Sunnyvale High School

Tripp is a former town on the eastern side of Dallas County, Texas, United States. After 1964, the town was annexed into Sunnyvale.

Sunnyvale is a town in Dallas County, Texas, United States. It is the easternmost city completely within Dallas County. The population was 7,893 in 2020. The town had a median household income in 2020 of $137,656. Within the last two decades the towns demographics drastically changed. The town once criticized for lack of diversity now has a majority (50.67%) of its citizens POC, BIPOC, and AAPI members.

New Hope was a town in eastern Dallas County (not to be confused with the town of New Hope, Texas in Collin County) that was later incorporated into Sunnyvale, Texas, United States. New Hope was founded in the 19th century. Eventually it became quite large and was the main rival of neighboring Mesquite. The town had a newspaper called the New Hope News, a post office, a school, a baseball club, several stores, and an annual fair called Gala Days. A storm destroyed much of New Hope in 1921, it never fully recovered. In the year 1953, the towns of New Hope, Long Creek, and Hattersville joined into Sunnyvale. There are some remainders of New Hope in Sunnyvale: several old houses, some which are still in use; the old New Hope schoolhouse; Kearney's Store, which sits on the site of the old Lander's mercantile store where Gala Days used to be held.

Highland Hills is a neighborhood in the southern sector of Dallas, Texas. The neighborhood is centered on the intersection of Bonnie View and Simpson Stuart roads. Approximately 78% of the neighborhood is African American, 18% is Hispanic, 2% is white, and 2% are multiracial.

Mesquite High School (MHS) is a public high school in Mesquite, Texas, United States. It is part of the Mesquite Independent School District. It participates in the University Interscholastic League 6A division.

Dr. Ralph H. Poteet High School is located at 3300 Poteet Drive in Mesquite, in the U.S. state of Texas. It opened in 1986 and is named for a former school superintendent, Dr. Ralph H. Poteet. It is the fourth high school built by the Mesquite Independent School District. Poteet serves grades 9 through 12. Poteet serves northern portions of Mesquite; the school formerly served parts of Sunnyvale. The school mascot is Patch the Pirate. One of the things Poteet High School is known for is its band program. The Poteet Pirate Band has consistently made state finals since 1993, won the AAAA UIL State Marching Band title in 1997, 2005, and 2007, and has mostly recently placed 5th at AAAAA UIL State Marching in 2017. The Poteet Honors Band received the title of 2008 TMEA Class 4A Honor Band, the highest honor a concert band can receive in the state of Texas. The band has also received the UIL Sweepstakes Award for 22 consecutive years (every year since the school opened). The Poteet Percussion Ensemble was selected as a showcase performance in Austin at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in November 2008. Also, in 2009, the band received the Sudler Flag of Honor, an award from the John Philip Sousa Foundation. The band also participated in its 1st BOA competition with BOA DFW in 2018. Poteet was named a 1999-2000 National Blue Ribbon School.

Hattersville is the name of a former hamlet in eastern Dallas County, Texas. Boyd Hatter originally settled the hamlet and founded a school in the area. In 1953, the hamlet was merged with the nearby towns of Long Creek, Tripp, and New Hope to create the town of Sunnyvale, Texas.

Mesquite is a suburban city located east of the city of Dallas, Texas, United States. Most of the city is located in Dallas County, though a small portion extends into Kaufman County. As of 2019 census estimates, the population was 140,937, making it the 22nd-most populous city in the U.S. state of Texas; in 2020, its population grew to 150,108. Mesquite is positioned at the crossroads of four major highways (Interstates 30, 635, 20, and U.S. Route 80), making locations such as downtown Dallas, Lake Ray Hubbard, Dallas Love Field, and DFW International Airport accessible. According to legislative action, the city is the "Rodeo Capital of Texas". In 2016, Mesquite received a Playful City USA designation for the fourth year in a row. The city has been named a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation for over 25 years. The city of Mesquite holds the 10th-longest reign in all of Texas.Unique to suburbs of Dallas and Fort Worth, the city of Mesquite is served by its own local airport, Mesquite Metro Airport. Companies and institutions with a major presence in the city are the United Parcel Service, Sears, AT&T, Charter Spectrum, Eastfield College, Ashley Furniture, and FedEx.

Lakeview Centennial High School is a public secondary school in Garland, Texas, United States. It enrolls students in grades 9–12 and is a part of the Garland Independent School District. The school's name derives from two sources: "Lakeview" from its location near Lake Ray Hubbard and "Centennial" as it opened during the American bicentennial year of 1976.

Rose Hill is an area located in southeast Garland, Texas, United States. It was formerly a distinct unincorporated community in Dallas County until annexed by Garland in 1970. The community was first settled in 1853 and composed of land grants by John Little, W.S. Peques, and J.W. Smith. It was named Rose Hill in 1931 either in honor of early settler P.W. Rose or after roses found at the local churchyard. The population was 117 in 1904 and diminished to 50 by 1910. It had featured a post office (1884-1906) as well as four stores, two churches, a school, a restaurant, a blacksmith, and approximately twenty residences. The population gradually increased to 175 in 1964, the last recorded population number until annexation by Garland six years later.

Lake Ray Hubbard Transit Center is a small bus-only station located on Duck Creek Dr. west of Broadway (Belt Line Rd.) in Garland, Texas (U.S.A.). It is owned and operated by Dallas Area Rapid Transit, whose buses mostly serve Lake Ray Hubbard as well as South Garland Transit Center and Downtown Garland Station

Lake Ray Hubbard, formerly Eastern Dallas Lake or Forney Lake, is a freshwater impoundment (reservoir) located in Dallas, Texas in the counties of Dallas, Kaufman, Collin, and Rockwall, just north of the City of Forney. It was created by the construction of the Rockwall-Forney Dam, which impounded the East Fork Trinity River. It measures 22,745 acres (92.05 km2) in size with a storage capacity of 490,000 acre-ft (600 million m3) and a maximum depth of 40 ft (12 m). The dam is currently owned by the City of Dallas. I-30 crosses the lake on the Eastern Dallas Causeway. The lake was originally named Forney Lake for the small city of Forney. After the City of Dallas incorporated the lake, it was renamed after a living person, Ray Hubbard, who presided over the Dallas Parks and Recreation System board from 1943 to 1972. The reservoir is currently managed and owned by Dallas Water Utilities.
