Cedarbrae is a residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is bounded by Southland Drive to the north, 24 Street W to the east, Anderson Road to the south and Tsuut'ina Trail to the west. The lands were annexed by the city in 1956, and Cedarbrae was established in 1973. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 11 councillor.

Woodlands is a residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. The community is bordered by Fish Creek Provincial Park to the south, 24 Street SW to the west, Anderson Road SW to the north, and 14 Street SW to the east. The Canyon Meadows Golf course is entirely contained within the boundaries of Woodlands. Woodlands was established in 1976. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 13 councillor.

Oakridge is a residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is bounded to the north by 90 Avenue S, to the east by 24 Street W and the West/South by Southland Drive. To the north it borders the Glenmore Reservoir and the Weaselhead Natural Area. Oakridge was under the jurisdiction of the Municipal District of Rocky View until being annexed to the City of Calgary in 1956. It was subsequently established as a neighbourhood in 1968, with home and business construction beginning the following year in 1969. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 11 councillor.

Braeside is a residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is located north of Anderson Road, south of Southland Drive, west of 14th Street SW and east of 24th Street SW.

The Southland Leisure Centre is an indoor leisure centre situated in the southwest community on Palliser in Calgary, Alberta. The multipurpose recreational facility was built at the same time (although additions and redesigns have been made since) as the surrounding neighbourhood and is one of two leisure centres owned and operated by The City of Calgary. Southland Leisure Centre provides a wide range of registered programs and drop-in programs and activities, including sports training, gymnastics, day camps, racquet sports, skating, dance, martial arts, so-pitch, hockey and skating lessons. Southland also offers preschool programs including playschool, tot's gym time and more.

Palliser is a residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is bounded to the north by 90 Ave SW, to the east by 19 Street SW, to the south by Southland Drive SW and to the west by 24 Street SW. The Tom Brook Athletic Park is located within the neighbourhood. Named after John Palliser, an early explorer and geographer of western Canada, the neighbourhood was established in 1967. Until 1991 it included the community of Pump Hill. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 11 councillor.

Evergreen, which includes Evergreen Estates, is a suburban residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is located south of the Fish Creek Provincial Park, and southeast from the Tsuu T'ina first nation reserve. There are two sections of Evergreen, the older and more established Evergreen Estates, and the newer Evergreen to the south. The two sections have separate community associations and street naming patterns. All streets with Evergreen in their name are members of the Shawnee-Evergreen Community Association along with the neighbouring community Shawnee Slopes, while those with different names are members of the Calgary Evergreen Community Association.The area is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 13 councillor.The film Radiant City largely takes place in the community of Evergreen.

Calgary-Lougheed is a provincial electoral district in Alberta, Canada. It is one of 87 districts mandated to return a single member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta using the first-past-the-post method of voting. The district is primarily urban, and it exists on the suburban fringes of the city of Calgary. It was created in the 1993 boundary redistribution from Calgary-Shaw, and is named in honour of former Premier Peter Lougheed, who held the nearby seat of Calgary West from 1967 to 1986. The district has been a stronghold for Progressive Conservative candidates since it was created. The riding is currently vacant following the resignation of the former Premier of Alberta, Jason Kenney of the United Conservative Party. The first MLA was Jim Dinning who previously represented Calgary-Shaw. The district contains the neighbourhoods of Bridlewood, Millrise, Shawnee, Evergreen, Evergreen Estates, Alpine Park and Vermilion Hills.

The Shaw Charity Classic is a professional golf tournament in Canada on the Champions Tour, played at Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club in Calgary, Alberta. The 54-hole tournament was first played in 2013, and Rocco Mediate won with a 22-under 191, seven strokes ahead of runner-up Tom Byrum. A new course record was set by Bill Glasson at 62 (−9).The course was changed to par 70 in 2014, with a winner's share of $337,500. Fred Couples chipped in for eagle on the par-5 final hole for a course record 61 (−9) and a total of 195 (−15), then waited for the leaders to finish. Billy Andrade followed with a 62 (−8) to force a two-man playoff, which began on the 18th hole. Couples laid up with a wedge and nearly holed his third shot with a sand wedge; he sank the one-foot (0.3 m) putt for birdie to win the title.Canyon Meadows opened 66 years ago in 1957 and is south of central Calgary, at an approximate average elevation of 1,095 metres (3,590 ft) above sea level.

It is bounded to the north by 90th Avenue SW and the Glenmore Reservoir, to the east by 14 Street SW, to the south by Southland Drive and to the west by 19 Street SW. Pumphill was developed starting with 1967, when it was still incorporated in Palliser. It became a neighbourhood in its own right in 1991. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 11 councillor.

Bayview is a small residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It is located on a peninsula on the southern shore of Glenmore Reservoir. One of the lake's two marinas is located in this community. Bayview was established in 1967. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 11 councillor

Calgary Southwest was a federal electoral district in Alberta, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1988 to 2015. The district was in the southwest part of the City of Calgary, south of Glenmore Trail and west of the Canadian Pacific Railway line. Former Prime Minister Stephen Harper represented the riding during his leadership.
