Spruce Meadows is a multi-purpose sports facility near Calgary, Alberta built by the Southern family which opened in 1975.The facility contains an equestrian show jumping complex that comprises 505 acres (2.04 km2). The current president and CEO of Spruce Meadows is Linda Southern-Heathcott, a former Olympian who competed in the 1996 Atlanta Summer Games for the Canadian Olympic Team. The facility is also the home venue of Cavalry FC of the Canadian Premier League, a soccer team owned by Spruce Meadows Sports and Entertainment. The 6,000-seat stadium, known as ATCO Field for sponsorship reasons during soccer use, is within the facility. The field was constructed in early 2019 at the site of a modified jumping field, which gained new stands to fit the rectangular soccer pitch.

Evergreen, which includes Evergreen Estates, is a suburban residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is located south of the Fish Creek Provincial Park, and southeast from the Tsuu T'ina first nation reserve. There are two sections of Evergreen, the older and more established Evergreen Estates, and the newer Evergreen to the south. The two sections have separate community associations and street naming patterns. All streets with Evergreen in their name are members of the Shawnee-Evergreen Community Association along with the neighbouring community Shawnee Slopes, while those with different names are members of the Calgary Evergreen Community Association.The area is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 13 councillor.The film Radiant City largely takes place in the community of Evergreen.

ATCO Field is a soccer stadium at Spruce Meadows in Foothills County, Alberta, Canada. It is home to Cavalry FC of the Canadian Premier League. The venue (formerly known as Meadows on the Green) also serves as the home for several equestrian events spanning two to four weeks per year. Public transportation to the stadium is available from the Somerset–Bridlewood CTrain station. ATCO, the Canadian corporation from which the stadium gets its name, is also owned by the Southern family.

Somerset is a residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It is located at the southern edge of the city, north of Stoney Trail and east from the community of Bridlewood and west from Macleod Trail. The Spruce Meadows equestrian facility is located immediately southwest. Somerset is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 13 councillor.

Calgary-Lougheed is a provincial electoral district in Alberta, Canada. It is one of 87 districts mandated to return a single member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta using the first-past-the-post method of voting. The district is primarily urban, and it exists on the suburban fringes of the city of Calgary. It was created in the 1993 boundary redistribution from Calgary-Shaw, and is named in honour of former Premier Peter Lougheed, who held the nearby seat of Calgary West from 1967 to 1986. The district has been a stronghold for Progressive Conservative candidates since it was created. The riding is currently vacant following the resignation of the former Premier of Alberta, Jason Kenney of the United Conservative Party. The first MLA was Jim Dinning who previously represented Calgary-Shaw. The district contains the neighbourhoods of Bridlewood, Millrise, Shawnee, Evergreen, Evergreen Estates, Alpine Park and Vermilion Hills.

Shawnessy is a suburban residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is bounded by Shawnessy Boulevard to the north, MacLeod Trail to the east, 162 Avenue S to the south and James McKevitt Road to the west. Shawnessy was established in 1981. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 13 councillor.It is served by the Shawnessy station of the C-Train LRT system. Shawnessy Town Centre is a regional shopping area located east of the community.

Millrise is a suburban residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is located south of Fish Creek Provincial Park, and is bounded by 146 Avenue S to the north, Macleod Trail to the east, Shawnessy Boulevard to the south and James McKevitt Road to the west. The land was annexed to the City of Calgary in 1961 and Millrise was established in 1982. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 13 councillor.The community is served by the Fish Creek-Lacombe station of the C-Train LRT system.

Shawnee Slopes is a residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It is bounded to the south by James McKevitt Road, to the east by Macleod Trail, to the north by Fish Creek Provincial Park and to the west by Evergreen Street SW. It was named for the Shawnee native people. Shawnee Slopes is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 13 councillors.

Somerset–Bridlewood station is a CTrain light rail station in Somerset, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It is the current southern terminus of the South Line (Route 201). The station is one of two that opened on June 28, 2004 as part of the South LRT Extension Phase II. The station is located on the exclusive LRT right of way (adjacent to CPR ROW), 16.9 km south of the City Hall interlocking along Shawville Gate. 913 parking spaces are included in the park-and-ride facility at the station. The station consists of a center-loading platform with at-grade crossings at both ends of the platform. The platform is also constructed to accommodate a four-car-length train. In 2005, the station registered an average of 10,100 boardings per weekday. In 2007, the station registered an average of 13,000 boardings per weekday.

Shawnessy is a CTrain light rail station in Shawnessy, Calgary, Alberta. It serves the South Red Line (Route 201). It is located on the exclusive LRT right of way (adjacent to the CPR ROW), 16 km south of the City Hall interlocking. It was one of the two new stations to open on June 28, 2004, as part of the South LRT Extension Phase II. The station is located along Shawville Boulevard and is adjacent to its neighbourhood and it's shopping district. The station's side-loading platforms are staggered with a pedestrian crossing of the tracks between the two platforms. The East platform takes you north through downtown to Tuscany. The West platform takes you the one stop south to the end of the line in Somerset. The station platforms were originally built to accommodate four-car-length trains. In 2005, the station registered an average of 3,900 boardings per weekday.

Silverado is a residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is located near the southern edge of the city, south of Stoney Trail, east of the equestrian sports facility Spruce Meadows, West of Sheriff King Street and North of 194 Avenue S.W. Silverado is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 13 councillor.

Fish Creek–Lacombe station is a CTrain light rail station in Shawnee Slopes, Calgary, Alberta which opened October 9, 2001 as part of the South LRT Extension Phase I and was the southern terminus until June 27, 2004. It serves the South Line (Route 201). It is located on the exclusive LRT right of way (adjacent to CPR ROW), 14.2 km south of the City Hall interlocking. The station is west of MacLeod Trail and just to the north of James McKevitt Road. The station has a center-loading platform with barrier-free access at both ends. The North end connects to the heated indoor ticket pavilion and the bus loop. The south end connects to the park-and-ride lot as well as the pedestrian overpass that connects Fish Creek Provincial Park and Midnapore to the LRT station. A large 1130 space park-and-ride lot is located on site. The station platform was originally constructed to 3-car length with room set aside to easily expand to 4-car length when needed in the future. Construction on a Southern extension of the platform started on July 16, 2012, and the new platform extension and relocated track crossing opened on December 15, 2012. In 2005, the station registered an average of 6,200 boardings per weekday.
