Moulins, Allier

The canton of Moulins-Sud is a former administrative division of the Arrondissement of Moulins in the Allier department in central France. It was disbanded following the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. It had 13,021 inhabitants (2012).The canton comprised the following communes: Bressolles Moulins (partly) Toulon-sur-Allier

Moulins Communauté is the communauté d'agglomération, an intercommunal structure, centred on the town of Moulins. It is located in the Allier and Nièvre departments, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté regions, central France. Created in 2017, its seat is in Moulins. Its area is 1,336.2 km2. Its population was 64,458 in 2019, of which 19,246 in Moulins proper.

Moulins Cathedral (French: Basilique-Cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-l'Annonciation de Moulins, lit. 'English: Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of the Annunciation of Moulins') is a Roman Catholic church located in the town of Moulins, Allier, France. It is also known as Notre-Dame de Moulins. The cathedral is the seat of the Bishop of Moulins. It is a national monument. The cathedral contains two distinct building phases four centuries apart. It was constructed as a collegiate church in the Flamboyant style at the end of the 15th century. In 1822 it was made a cathedral. To this a neo-Gothic nave, designed by the architects Lassus and Millet, was added at the end of the 19th century. The treasury contains the famous triptych by the Maître de Moulins, which was commissioned around 1500 by the Duke of Bourbon.

Le Grand Café is a famous café and brasserie in Moulins in the French department of Allier, located at 49, place d'Allier, in the town centre. It was created in 1898 and its inner architecture is representative of the Neo-rococo late 19th century style and features large wall mirrors, stucco, wrought iron, murals and ceiling paintings, as well as a large glass roof. Le Grand Café was listed as an official historical monument in February 1978.The Grand Café was frequented by Coco Chanel (who may have sung there, since at this time Le Grand Café was also a café-chantant) and Georges Simenon during their youths. In his novel Maigret Goes Home, a chapter is set in Le Grand Café but the 1959 movie Maigret et l'Affaire Saint-Fiacre (in French) based on the book and directed by Jean Delannoy with Jean Gabin playing Maigret was not shot in the actual café but in interiors constructed in a Paris film studio. The 2008 television movie Coco Chanel had scenes shot in the Grand Café.

The Maison Mantin (French pronunciation: [mɛzɔ̃ mɑ̃tɛ̃]; "Mantin House") is a late 19th-century French mansion located in the town of Moulins (Arrondissement de Moulins) in the Allier department of central France. The mansion, shuttered for more than a century, opened its doors to the public in November 2010 as a museum.

Moulins-sur-Allier station (French: Gare de Moulins-sur-Allier) is a railway station serving the town Moulins, Allier department, central France. It is situated on the Moret–Lyon railway, the Montluçon–Moulins railway and the Moulins–Mâcon railway. The station is served by long distance trains (Intercités) towards Paris, Nantes, Clermont-Ferrand and Lyon, and regional trains towards Clermont-Ferrand, Dijon, Nevers, Montchanin and Lyon.

The Freyssinet Test Arch (in French Arche d'essai Freyssinet) is a prestressed concrete arch built in 1909 in Moulins, Allier by Eugène Freyssinet1. Its purpose was to test the resistance of this material to traction exerted on very flat and long-range arches. Freyssinet wanted to validate this prestressed concrete technique which he had perfected before the construction of three road bridges over the Allier river which he was to undertake in the following years: the Veurdre Bridge, the Boutiron Bridge and the Châtel-de-Neuvre bridge. As the first testimony to this innovative technique, the arch has been registered as a Monument historique since October 2021 with Boutiron Bridge, the only existing original bridge of the three.

The canton of Moulins-1 (before March 2015: Moulins-Ouest) is an administrative division of the Arrondissement of Moulins in the Allier department in central France. It consists of the western part of the commune of Moulins and its western suburbs. It includes the following communes: Aubigny Avermes Bagneux Coulandon Montilly Moulins (partly) Neuvy

Centre National du Costume de Scene (CNCS) (English: National Center of Stage Costume (CNCS)), is a French museum dedicated to stage costumes and sets. It was inaugurated on 1 July 2006 in Moulins, Allier by Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres the Minister of Culture, Pierre-André Périssol the mayor of Moulins and Christian Lacroix, dressmaker and board chairman. The current director is Delphine Pinasa, whose portrait is exhibited at the museum.
