Rice–Eccles Stadium

The opening ceremony of the 2002 Winter Olympics took place at the Rice-Eccles Olympic Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States, on 8 February 2002. U.S. President George W. Bush opened the 2002 Winter Olympics, which took place five months after the September 11 attacks, with: On behalf of a proud, determined and grateful nation..., then the standard opening formula followed.

Robert Rice Stadium was an outdoor athletic stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah, located on the campus of the University of Utah. Originally opened in 1927 as Ute Stadium, it was the home of the Utah Utes football team. Renamed for Robert L. Rice in 1972, it was almost completely demolished after the 1997 season to make way for the Utes' current home, Rice-Eccles Stadium, which occupies the same physical footprint.

The Einar Nielsen Fieldhouse was a multi-purpose arena in the western United States, located in Salt Lake City, Utah. Opened 84 years ago in 1939 on the University of Utah campus, it was the home venue of Utes basketball for thirty years, and was formally dedicated on the night of Tuesday, January 9, 1940. The fieldhouse hosted a pair of first round games of the 23-team NCAA tournament in 1968, and high school basketball state tournaments. It was succeeded as the primary indoor venue on campus by the Jon M. Huntsman Center, which opened in late 1969 as the Special Events Center.The building served as a fitness and recreation center for students and staff at the university for many years, but now acts as a studio for students in the "pre-programs" for Multidisciplinary Design and Architecture.It is located in the southwest portion of campus, just north of Rice–Eccles Stadium, separated by Campus Drive. The approximate elevation at street level is 4,650 feet (1,415 m) above sea level.

The Olympic and Paralympic Cauldron Plaza is located outside the southwestern corner of Rice–Eccles Stadium on the campus of the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. During the 2002 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, the stadium was known as Rice-Eccles Olympic Stadium and hosted the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. Currently, the plaza contains the 2002 Winter Olympics cauldron surrounded by several plaques displaying photographs and information related to the 2002 Games. In 2003, the "Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Cauldron Park" was opened at the southern end of Rice-Eccles Stadium, near where the cauldron had stood during the Games. The park contained the cauldron, the Hoberman Arch, and other features such as a visitor center. Overtime, features of the park became disused and some were removed. In 2018, the University of Utah announced it would be expanding the stadium south, requiring the park to be eliminated and the cauldron relocated. The cauldron was removed for refurbishment in 2020, before being installed in the new Olympic and Paralympic Cauldron Plaza, which was unveiled October 29, 2021.

Carlson Hall at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States was built during 1937–38. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996, and was a part of the campus until it was demolished in 2012.

Stadium station is a light rail station serving the Rice–Eccles Stadium on the campus of the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States, served by the Red Line of the Utah Transit Authority's (UTA) TRAX light rail system. The Red Line provides a service from the University of Utah Medical Center to the Daybreak community of South Jordan.

The Pioneer Theatre Company (PTC) is one of four professional theatre companies in Utah, and the only fully professional theatre in Salt Lake City, contracting with union members belonging to Actors' Equity Association (AEA), Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC) and United Scenic Artists (USA829). PTC was formed in 1962 and performs at the Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre on the University of Utah campus in Salt Lake City. The non-profit company produces seven plays each season, running from September to May, including classics, musicals, dramas, and comedies. The company creates its own productions on site, including costumes and scenery, while sometimes using actors and directors from out-of-state. Among a number of premieres, the company produced the nation's first regional premiere of Les Misérables in 2007, giving 82 sold out performances.

The S.J. Quinney College of Law is the professional graduate law school of the University of Utah. Located in Salt Lake City, Utah, the school was established in 1913. It is a member of the Association of American Law Schools and is accredited by the American Bar Association. The 2023 U.S. News & World Report Law School Rankings place the S.J. Quinney College of Law 37th of 196 in the United States.

The J. Willard Marriott Library is the main academic library of the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. The university library has had multiple homes since the first University of Utah librarian was appointed in 1850. The current building was opened in 1968 and named for J. Willard Marriott, founder of Marriott International, in 1969. After two major renovations, the building is more than 500,000 square feet (46,000 m2) and houses more than 4.5 million volumes. The University of Utah Press and Red Butte Press are divisions of the Marriott Library.

Mount Olivet Cemetery is a cemetery in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was established on May 16, 1874, by an act of the U.S. Congress which granted 20 acres of land for public use as a cemetery. The first use of the cemetery was in 1877. The cemetery land originally consisted of exactly 20 acres and was part of the U.S. Army's Camp Douglas military reservation. Since that time, the allotment has been expanded and contracted; the present cemetery is approximately 80 acres.

The University of Utah College of Architecture + Planning (also known as CA+P) is an academic college of the University of Utah, offering undergraduate and graduate degrees in architecture, city and metropolitan planning and multi-disciplinary design. The College also offers graduate certificates in historic preservation, urban planning, real estate development and urban design. The College is the only accredited architecture program in the state of Utah.

The University of Utah Circle, also known as Presidents Circle, is located on the campus of the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978 as a historic district.
