Hanapepe Town Lot No. 18, Hanapepe, Hawaii, on the island of Kauai, is a building built in 1926. Historically remembered as the Pool Hall, it was built as a coffee shop, then later partly used as a radio shop. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. Also listed on the state register, restoration of the building was completed in 2003 after being damaged in Hurricane Iniki. It was deemed "significant as a surviving example of the vernacular wood commercial buildings constructed in Hawaii in the early twentieth century. Single wall construction and the false front are characteristic of the type. The plantations popularized single wall construction, but the method was used throughout the islands because of its low cost and ease of construction. The unsupported pent roofs at the sidewalk are characteristic of Hanapepe's commercial buildings.": 3 It was deemed significant also for association with the 1920s and 1930s growth of Hanapepe, a town that is unique in Kauai for developing not as a plantation town, but rather as workers left plantations elsewhere and moved to the area to farm and to open businesses.

ʻEleʻele (literally, "black" or "black water" in Hawaiian) is a census-designated place (CDP) on the island of Kauaʻi in Kauaʻi County, Hawaiʻi, United States, with the ZIP code of 96705. Glass Beach, that is made of sea glass, is a local attraction. The population was 2,515 at the 2020 census, up from 2,040 at the 2000 census.

The Hanapepe River is a river on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. It begins at the confluence of the Kō'ula River with the Manuahi Stream and flows generally south, with a total length of 24.2 km (15.0 mi) to its mouth at Hanapepe and Eleele in the Pacific Ocean. The watershed covers an area of 27.7 square miles, draining roughly a twentieth of the island. The name Hanapepe translates to "crushed bay," which may refer to landslides in the area. The river drains the fertile Hanapepe Valley, a region that was historically used for growing rice, taro, coffee, and sugarcane. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the valley attracted Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Filipino immigrant workers, many of whom started their own farms or businesses. More recently, the Hanapepe Valley was used for filming parts of the 1993 Steven Spielberg film Jurassic Park. Near its mouth in Hanapepe, the river passes under the Hanapepe Swinging Bridge. The footbridge was built in 1911 to provide Hanapepe residents with a way to cross the river, and was restored in 1992 after Hurricane Iniki. Considered a local tourist attraction, the bridge is popular with children due to its tendency to rock back and forth.

Port Allen is a populated place at Hanapepe Bay, 20 nautical miles from Nawiliwili, in Kauai County, in the U.S. state of Hawaii. Originally named ʻEleʻele Landing, terminal owner Kauai Railway renamed it for Honolulu business man and port financial backer Samuel Clesson Allen. When the Civilian Conservation Corps Camp in Koke'e State Park was built in 1935, the lumber for the camp was floated in saltwater as a built-in deterrent to termites, and brought ashore at Port Allen. Captain James Cook landed on Kauai in this area. The facilities were demolished in 1982 by Hurricane Iwa, but eventually rebuilt.

Glass Beach is a beach in Eleele, an industrial area in Kauai, Hawaii, that is made of sea glass. It is in Hanapepe Bay, near Port Allen Harbor. The beach's regular rock is basalt, but the sea glass formed after years of discarded glass.

Port Allen Airport (IATA: PAK, ICAO: PHPA, FAA LID: PAK) is a regional airport of the State of Hawai'i. It is located 1 nautical mile (1.9 km; 1.2 mi) southwest of the unincorporated town of Hanapepe on the south shore of the island of Kauaʻi. Most flights to Port Allen Airport originate from commuter airports on the other Hawaiian islands by unscheduled air taxis and general aviation. It is included in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2017–2021, in which it is categorized as a general aviation facility.

Kaumakani (literally, "place in the wind" in the Hawaiian language) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Kauaʻi County, Hawaiʻi, United States. The population was 749 at the 2010 census, up from 607 at the 2000 census.

The Hanapēpē Massacre (also called the Battle of Hanapēpē) occurred on September 9, 1924, when an dispute amongst Filipino strike organizers in Hanapēpē, Kaua'i resulted in a violent exchange between local police officers and Filipinos. The conflict began when two Ilocano youth, allegedly breaking the Filipino-led labor strike, were detained and harassed by a group of Visayans at the Hanapepe strike camp. When the local police were called to settle the dispute, they arrived with a group of heavily armed special deputies. Upon arrival, the officers issued warrants of arrest for the two detained Illocanos, causing the collection of Filipino strikers to rally in opposition. Despite previously ridiculing the two Ilocanos, the remaining Filipinos armed themselves and demanded the boys be released. A violent exchange ensued wherein sixteen Filipino laborers and four police officers were left dead.

The Kō'ula River or Koula is the largest tributary of the Hanapēpē River on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. It rises at 4,642 ft (1415 meters) on the slopes of Mt. Waialeale and flows generally south for 9.2 miles to its confluence with the Manuahi Stream. Beyond this point it is known as the Hanapēpē River. The river has a long-term mean discharge of 85.2 cubic feet (0.99 cubic meters) per second.

Pākalā Village (literally, "the sun shines" in Hawaiian) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Kauaʻi County, Hawaiʻi, United States. The population was 286 at the 2020 census.

Kalāheo (literally, "the proud day" in Hawaiian) is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Kauaʻi County, island of Kauaʻi, Hawaiʻi, United States. The population was 4,996 at the 2020 census, up from 3,913 at the 2000 census. The National Tropical Botanical Garden is located in Kalāheo.

The Waimea River is the largest and the longest river on the island of Kauai in the U.S. state of Hawaii. At 35.7 km (22.2 mi) in length, it is the 3rd longest rivers in the Hawaiian Islands, draining one sixth of the total area of the island. It rises in a wet plateau of the island's central highlands, in the Alaka'i Swamp, the largest high-elevation swamp in the world. It flows south, passing through the spectacular 3,000-foot-deep (910 m) Waimea Canyon, known as the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific." The valleys of the Waimea River and its tributary, the Makaweli River, were once heavily populated. It enters the Pacific Ocean at Waimea, near the 1778 landing place of Captain Cook on Kauai.
