The United States’ Emergency Management Institute (EMI), of the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), serves as the United States’ focal point for the development and delivery of emergency management training. The emergency management training improves the capabilities of state, territorial, local, and tribal government officials; volunteer organizations; FEMA's disaster workforce; other Federal agencies; and the public and private sectors to minimize the impact of disasters and emergencies on the American public. EMI curricula are structured to meet the needs of this diverse audience, with an emphasis on separate organizations working together in all-hazards emergencies to save lives and protect property. Particular emphasis is placed on governing doctrine, such as, the National Response Framework (NRF), National Incident Management System (NIMS), and the National Preparedness Guidelines. EMI is fully accredited by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and the American Council on Education (ACE). The instruction is based upon the principles of Emergency Management and instructional systems design. This instruction creates a framework within whole community to reduce vulnerability to hazards and to cope with disasters. EMI develops courses and implements training delivery systems to include residential onsite training; offsite delivery in partnership with Emergency Management training systems, colleges, and universities; and technology-based mediums to conduct individual training courses for Emergency Management and Response personnel across the United States.EMI provides the following services: Emergency Management certification and leadership training Mission assistance to organizations and teams Online knowledge-sharing resources Continuous learning assets

Saint Joseph College and Mother Seton Shrine are two closely related campuses in Emmitsburg, Maryland, United States. It forms a historic district that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

The National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton is a U.S. religious site and educational center in Emmitsburg, Maryland, that pays tribute to the life and mission of Elizabeth Ann Seton (August 28, 1774 – January 4, 1821), the first native-born citizen of the United States to be canonized by the Roman Catholic Church. It is both a minor basilica and a national shrine.

The Emmitsburg Historic District is a national historic district in Emmitsburg, Frederick County, Maryland. The district is predominantly residential and includes most of the older area of the town extending along Main Street and Seton Avenue. Also included are several commercial buildings and churches interspersed among the dwellings. The buildings are primarily two-story sided log or brick, dating from the late 18th to the mid 19th centuries. Some later 19th century buildings in this area include some large Italianate-influenced buildings forming the northeast and southeast corners of the main square; an area destroyed by fire in 1863. Settlement began in the region during the 1730s, bringing Protestant Germans and Scotch-Irish from Pennsylvania, as well as English Catholics from Tidewater Maryland.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

Emmitsburg is a town in Frederick County, Maryland, United States, 0.3 miles (0.5 km) south of the Mason-Dixon line separating Maryland from Pennsylvania. Founded in 1785, Emmitsburg is the home of Mount St. Mary's University. The town has two Catholic pilgrimage sites: the National Shrine Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, which is on the campus of Mount St. Mary's, and the Basilica and National Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, who was the first native-born United States citizen to be canonized as a saint. The Seton Shrine is one of the top eight Catholic pilgrimage destinations in the United States.The National Emergency Training Center (NETC) campus is in Emmitsburg, located on the former campus of Saint Joseph College. The campus includes the Emergency Management Institute, the National Fire Academy and the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial. The population as of the 2010 U.S Census was 2,814. Emmitsburg is home to three Cal Ripken Baseball 12U 46/60 baseball championships. The titles were won in consecutive years (2013, 2014, and 2015). For years, the youth baseball and softball league was the gold standard in the Catoctin area.The current mayor of Emmitsburg is Don Briggs. The current commissioners are Frank Davis, T. J. Burns, Tim O'Donnell, Joseph Ritz III and Cliff Sweeney.

St. Euphemia's School and Sisters' House is a historic school building and convent located at Emmitsburg, Frederick County, Maryland. It is a late-19th century school complex that consists of two attached brick buildings: a two and half story school building built about 1890, and a house that was used as a convent and built about 1860.It was named after the patron saint of sister Euphemia Blenkinsop in 1899 as a tribute to her memory. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Knott Arena is a multi-purpose sports arena at Mount Saint Mary's University, in Emmitsburg, Maryland. It was built in 1987 and is home to the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers men's basketball and women's basketball teams. It features a main arena/convocation center with a seating capacity of 3,500 for basketball. For other events, the arena can seat up to 5,000.

E.T. Straw Family Stadium is a baseball venue in Emmitsburg, Maryland, United States. It is home to the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers baseball team of the NCAA Division I Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The stadium is part of the larger PNC Sports Complex.In 2007, the stadium underwent $400,000 renovations, thanks to the donation of Mount St. Mary's alumnus E.T. Straw. The venue was dedicated to Straw as a result. The renovations added a new backstop, outfield fence, a warning track, bullpens, and foul poles. A new press box, sound system, and bleachers were also added. A second round of renovations occurred in 2017, with the addition of a synthetic turf infield and padded outfield fences.

Mount St. Mary's University is a private Roman Catholic university in Emmitsburg, Maryland. It has the largest Catholic seminary in the United States. Undergraduate programs are divided between the College of Liberal Arts, the Richard J. Bolte School of Business, and the School of Natural Science and Mathematics. "The Mount" has over 40 undergraduate majors, minors, concentrations, and special programs, as well as bachelor's/master's combinations in partnership with other universities, 8 master's programs, and 6 postgraduate certificate programs.

Middle Creek is a 17.1-mile-long (27.5 km) tributary of Toms Creek in Pennsylvania and Maryland in the United States.Middle Creek is born on the eastern slope of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and from there flows through Adams County, Pennsylvania and Frederick County, Maryland to join Toms Creek near Emmitsburg.Water from Middle Creek flows via Toms Creek, the Monocacy River, and the Potomac River to Chesapeake Bay and eventually the Atlantic Ocean.

The Fourpoints Bridge, near Emmitsburg, Maryland is a wrought iron bridge by the Wrought Iron Bridge Company of Canton, Ohio. The bridge crosses Toms Creek and is similar to the Poffenberger Road Bridge elsewhere in Frederick County. The 103-foot Pratt truss bridge remains in daily use.

Fairplay is a populated place in Adams County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located between the Gettysburg Battlefield and the Mason–Dixon line at the intersection of U.S. Route 15 in Pennsylvania and the Emmitsburg Road near Marsh Creek, in Freedom Township. Moritz' Tavern at the intersection was the site of General John F. Reynolds' headquarters the night before the Battle of Gettysburg.
