The following is a list of important sites of interest in and around the city of Lima, Peru.

The Monument to the Defenders of the Border (Spanish: Monumento a los defensores de la frontera) is a commemorative sculptural complex located in the Campo de Marte in Lima, Peru. Its author was the Peruvian sculptor Artemio Ocaña. It was erected between 1944 and 1945 in honor of those who fell during the Ecuadorian–Peruvian War of 1941.

The Eye that Cries (El Ojo que Llora in Spanish) is a memorial that was born as a private initiative designed to honor the thousands of victims as a result of terrorism in Peru, to strengthen the collective memory of all Peruvians and to promote peace and reconciliation in the country.The Eye that Cries is part of a larger project called The Memory Alameda which will incorporate other art pieces, large extensions of green areas and the Museum of Memory (Yuyanapaq).

The Apostolic Nunciature to the Republic of Peru is an ecclesiastical office of the Roman Catholic Church in Peru. It is a diplomatic post of the Holy See, whose representative is called the Apostolic Nuncio with the rank of an ambassador. Papal representation was established in Peru by the Apostolic Delegation to Peru and Bolivia, a single office resident in Peru. As a delegation, it had no diplomatic status but acted on behalf of the Holy See with respect to the Catholic Church in the region. This was then divided to create a nunciature for each country, a diplomatic office. Archbishop Angelo Giacinto Scapardini was named Apostolic Delegate to Peru and Bolivia in 1910. When he was assigned to his next diplomatic post in December 1916, he was described as Internuncio to Peru and Bolivia. Apostolic internuncio is a title given in anticipation of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the exchange of ambassadors. The Nunciature to Peru was established on 20 July 1917.

José Carlos Mariátegui Museum is a historic house museum located on the final residence of Peruvian writer José Carlos Mariátegui, where he spent the last five years of his life. The museum is dedicated to the life and work of Mariátegui, as well as that of his wife Anna and partner Victoria Ferrer, in the context of how the rooms in the household were used. Mariátegui moved into the house in 1925.The house dates back to the early 20th century, and was declared a National Historic Monument in 1972. It was inaugurated on June 14, 1994, coinciding with the 100th anniversary of Mariátegui's birth.

The Great Clock of Lima (Spanish: Gran Reloj de Lima), also known as the Pedro Ruiz Gallo clock (Spanish: Reloj de Pedro Ruiz Gallo) after its inventor, was a monumental clock created by Pedro Ruiz Gallo, and which was installed in the Parque de la Exposición in 1870 for the celebration of the Exhibition of 1872. The watch disappeared during the occupation of Lima by the Chilean Army in the War of the Pacific.

The Medicinal Botanical Garden of Lima (Spanish: Jardín botánico de Plantas Medicinales de Lima) is a botanical garden for medicinal plants in Jesús María District, Lima, Peru. It is located next to the headquarters of the Ministry of Health, with another garden located at Chorrillos District.

The Metropolitan Museum of Lima (Spanish: Museo Metropolitano de Lima) is a museum located next to the Park of the Exhibition in Lima, Peru. The neoclassical building that houses the museum was designed by French architect Claude Sahut and built in 1924, formerly housing the country's Ministry of Development and Public Works. It was inaugurated on October 10, 2010.The museum links the history of the city with the history of Peru using audiovisual resources such as scenery, videos and holograms, which covers the pre-Hispanic, viceregal and republican eras told by the characters who shaped it, such as Viceroy Amat, Rose of Lima, Pancho Fierro, José Olaya, José de San Martín, Simón Bolívar, Ricardo Palma, Abraham Valdelomar, Miguel Grau, among others. It has 27 projection rooms, whose museographic direction was directed by filmmaker Luis Llosa. It also contains a temporary exhibition hall, the Municipal Library, the Historical Archive and the Taulichusco auditorium.

The Church of Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus (Spanish: Iglesia de Santa Teresita del Niño Jesús) is a Catholic church located in the Santa Beatriz neighbourhood of Lima District, Lima, Peru. It therefore operates under the jurisdiction of the Archdiocese of Lima.

The National Stadium of Peru is a multi-purpose stadium located in Lima, Peru. Its current capacity is 50,086 seats as stated by the Peruvian Football Federation without the lodges for some thousands more. The stadium was first inaugurated on 27 October 1952 for the 1953 South American Championship—replacing the Stadium Nacional—and is Peru's principal and national stadium. It has hosted three of the six South American Championship/Copa América football competitions held in Peru. It is referred to as the Coloso de José Díaz because of its proximity to a street of the same name. It is the home ground of the Peru national football team. The IPD (Peruvian Sport Institute)—a branch of the Ministry of Education—is the stadium's administrating entity. The stadium has undergone several renovations for tournaments such as the 2004 Copa América. The artificial turf was installed for the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Championship. The most recent renovation started in 2010 and concluded in 2011. The re-inauguration ceremony of the renovated stadium was held on 24 July 2011 with a match between the Peru national under-20 football team and the Spain national under-20 football team.

The Estadio Nacional disaster took place on 24 May 1964 at the Estadio Nacional in Lima, Peru, during a match between Peru and Argentina. An unpopular decision by the referee outraged the Peruvian fans, who invaded the pitch. Police retaliated by firing tear gas into the crowd, causing a mass exodus. The deaths mainly occurred from people suffering from internal hemorrhaging or asphyxiation from the crushing against the steel shutters that led down to the street. The incident is considered the worst disaster in the history of association football.

The original Estadio Nacional del Perú, originally known as Estadio Guadalupe, was a stadium that existed from July 18, 1897 until 1951 when it began, on the same land, the construction of Peru's current National Stadium. From 1921 this place was called Sports National Stadium since it was established as the main sports arena for the practice of football in Peru.
