The Bonch-Bruevich Saint Petersburg State University of Telecommunications Russian: Санкт-Петербургский государственный университет телекоммуникаций им. проф. М.А.Бонч-Бруевича; Russian: СПбГУТ, SUT) is a very well-known university in the area of communications and telecommunications. The Bonch-Bruevich University offers training programs in communications and telecommunications, information technologies, computer science, economics, management, advertising and public relations. SPbSUT is a founding member of the Association of European Universities and Companies of Informatics and Computer Electronics (EUNICE).

The Stroganov Palace (Russian: Строгановский дворец) is a Late Baroque palace at the intersection of the Moika River and Nevsky Prospect in St. Petersburg, Russia. The palace was built to Bartolomeo Rastrelli's designs for Baron Sergei Grigoriyevich Stroganov in 1753–1754. The interiors were remodeled by Andrei Voronikhin at the turn of the 19th century.

Green Bridge (Russian: Зелёный мост, Zyelyoniy Most) (also known as Police Bridge and People Bridge) is a bridge across Moika River in Saint Petersburg, Russia. It was the first cast iron bridge in the city.In 1713, there was a major road built on the left bank of Neva river, which became the modern Nevsky Prospekt. At the crossing with Moika, in 1716 the original wooden bridge was built. In 1730 it was painted green, therefore it got the name of Green Bridge. In 1768 the bridge was renamed Police Bridge due to the nearby house of St. Petersburg's police general. In 1806 in place of the existing bridge, the architect William Heste built a new cast iron bridge. The strength of cast iron allowed a more elegant and lightweight design, especially compared with heavyweight granite bridges. The design was considered so successful, that it was approved as a standard design for bridges across the Moika. In 1842, the Police Bridge was widened to accommodate growing traffic on Nevsky Prospekt. In 1844 it was the first bridge paved with asphalt in Russia. In 1904–1907, when the tramway tracks were built into the Nevsky Prospekt, the bridge was widened again, and architect Lev Ilyin added street lamps.In 1918 the bridge was renamed to People Bridge (Russian: Народный мост, Narodniy Most), and in 1998 it was renamed once again back to its original designation, Green Bridge.

Literaturnoye Kafe (Russian: Литературное кафе), or Literary Cafe, is a historically significant restaurant on Nevsky Prospect in Saint Petersburg, Russia, that was frequented by famous writers of Russian literature, including Alexander Pushkin and Fyodor Dostoyevsky, and their friends in the nineteenth century.

The Saint Petersburg metropolitan area is a metropolitan area that is centered around Saint Petersburg. It includes the entire territory of the federal city of Saint Petersburg and part of the territory of Leningrad Oblast. The metropolitan area extends for about 50 km (31 mi) from the center of Saint Petersburg.The population of the Saint Petersburg metropolitan area is approximately 6.2 million people of the urbanized population (including St. Petersburg, Vsevolozhsky, most of Gatchinsky and Lomonosovsky Districts, and part of Kirovsky and Tosnensky Districts of Leningrad Oblast), and the remaining parts of the above municipal districts of Leningrad Oblast, including the Sosnovy Bor, whose area is approximately 12.6 thousand km². It is the second largest metropolitan area in Russia after Moscow.

The St Petersburg school for the Deaf (Санкт-Петербургское училище глухонемых) was a school for the deaf in Saint Petersburg in Russia between 1806 and 1918. It was the first school for the deaf in Russia and as such a pioneer institution. It was founded by empress Maria and a part of the Office of the Institutions of Empress Maria.

The Flour Bridge (Russian: Мучной мост) is a bridge across the Griboyedov Canal in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The bridge got its name from the flour warehouses located nearby, which were built in the 18th century and also gave their name to the nearby Flour Alley. The first bridge at this place was built in 1931, it had three spans and carried heating pipes. In 1951 the bridge was rebuilt according to P. V. Bazhenov's design which converted it into a single span pedestrian bridge. The arch of the bridge is created by a curvilinear steel beam which is supported by the quay walls. Gently sloping stairways descend at the ends of the bridge.

The Stone Bridge (Russian: Каменный мост) is a bridge across the Griboyedov Canal in Saint Petersburg, Russia. It was built in 1774–78, and at the time it was one of the first bridges in Saint Petersburg made of stone, hence the name. The bridge crosses the canal on the axis of Gorokhovaya Street connecting Kazansky and Spassky islands. Unlike many other bridges, this one did not undergo major reconstruction, and therefore preserves most of its original form from the 18th century.

The siege of Leningrad (Russian: блокада Ленинграда; German: Leningrader Blockade) was a prolonged military blockade undertaken from the south by the Army Group North of Nazi Germany against the Soviet city of Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg) on the Eastern Front in World War II. The Finnish army invaded from the north, co-operating with the Germans, and completed the ring around the city. The siege began on 8 September 1941, when the Wehrmacht severed the last road to the city. Although Soviet forces managed to open a narrow land corridor to the city on 18 January 1943, the Red Army did not lift the siege until 27 January 1944, 872 days after it began. The blockade became one of the longest and most destructive sieges in history, and it was possibly the costliest siege in history due to the number of casualties which were suffered throughout its duration. In the 21st century, some historians have classified it as a genocide due to the systematic starvation and intentional destruction of the city's civilian population.

Kazan Cathedral House (Russian: До́м Каза́нского собо́ра, romanized: Dóm Kazánskogo sobóra), also widely known as the house of the clergy of the Kazan Cathedral (Russian: До́м церко́внослужителей Каза́нского собо́ра), is a historic building in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The building was built in 1813-1817 in the style of Russian Neoclassicism. Architects—Vasily Stasov, Andrey Voronikhin. Before the Russian Revolution, the house belonged to the clergy of the Kazan Cathedral (since 1813). Location: St. Petersburg, Nevsky Prospect, 25 & Kazanskaya street, 1. The Red Bridge (Russian: Кра́сный мост, Krasniy most), is a single-span bridge across the Moika River in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The bridge is a part of Gorokhovaya Street. The length of the bridge is 42 m; the width is 16.8 m. The first cast iron bridge on the site was designed and built in 1808-1813 to a design by William Heste. The bridge was rebuilt in 1953 by architect V.V. Blazhevich. The original cast iron structure of the bridge was replaced by the welded steel arches but most of the decorations are left intact. The bridge's name dates from a 19th-century tradition of color-coding the bridges crossing the Moika River. Like other colored bridges, the Red Bridge got its name from the colour of its sides facing the river. Today only four colored bridges survive, the other ones being the Blue Bridge, the Green Bridge and the Yellow Bridge respectively. Three of them have kept their original names, but Yellow Bridge has been renamed to Pevchesky Bridge.

Gorokhovaya Street (Russian: Гороховая улица) is a north-south thoroughfare in the Central Business District of Saint Petersburg. Gorokhovaya Street is one of central Saint Petersburg's major thoroughfares, extending from the Admiralty and running south, crossing the Moyka River and the Griboyedov Canal, crossing Sadovaya Street near Sennaya Square. Continuing south, it crosses the Fontanka River with the Semenovsky Bridge, and ends at Zagorodny Prospect.
