Clayesmore School is an independent school for boys and girls, aged 8 – 18 years, in the village of Iwerne Minster, Dorset, England. It is both a day and boarding school and is a member of The Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference (HMC). The school was founded by Alexander Devine in 1896 in Enfield, Middlesex. After moving to Pangbourne, Berkshire and then to Winchester, Hampshire it finally moved to Iwerne Minster for the summer term of 1933. In 1974 it was joined on the Iwerne site by Clayesmore Preparatory School, originally Charlton Marshall School, which had been founded in 1929 by R.A.L. Everett. In the following year the school became co-educational. As of 2023 there are 400 pupils in the senior school (ages 13–18) and 150 in the prep school (ages 3–13). The current head is Joanne Thomson. The school is situated on a 62-acre (250,000 m2) campus.

Fontmell Magna is a village and civil parish in Dorset, England. It is situated in the Blackmore Vale, close to the chalk hills of Cranborne Chase, on the A350 road five miles (eight kilometres) south of Shaftesbury and eight miles (thirteen kilometres) north of Blandford Forum. In the 2011 census the parish had a population of 734.

Iwerne Minster ( YOO-ern) is a village and civil parish in Dorset, England. It lies on the edge of the Blackmore Vale, approximately midway between the towns of Shaftesbury and Blandford Forum. The A350 main road between those towns passes through the edge of the village, just to the west. In the 2011 Census the civil parish had a population of 978.

Bedchester is a hamlet in the civil parish of Fontmell Magna, in Dorset, England. A sign for Bedchester can be briefly seen in The Only Fools and Horses episode, A Touch of Glass.

Compton Abbas is a village and civil parish in north Dorset, England. It lies 3 miles (5 kilometres) south of the town of Shaftesbury. It is sited on greensand strata on the edge of the Blackmore Vale, below the chalk downs of Cranborne Chase. On top of these hills is Compton Abbas Airfield. The A350 road between Wiltshire and the south coast passes through the village. In the 2011 census the civil parish had a population of 216. The name Compton Abbas derives from the Saxon "cumb-ton", meaning 'village in a narrow valley', plus "abbas" which refers to Shaftesbury Abbey (the land was owned by the abbess). The church, St. Mary's, was built in 1866 to replace the older structure which was more remote from the village. The tower of the Church of St Mary in East Compton is a Grade I listed building.

Iwerne Courtney (), also known as Shroton, is a village and civil parish in the English county of Dorset. It lies approximately 4 miles (6 kilometres) north-west of Blandford Forum. It is sited by the small River Iwerne between Hambledon Hill to the south-west and the hills of Cranborne Chase to the east. In 2001 the parish had 187 households and a population of 400. In 2013 the estimated population of the parish was 410.

Hambledon Hill is a prehistoric hill fort in Dorset, England, in the Blackmore Vale five miles northwest of Blandford Forum. The hill itself is a chalk outcrop, on the southwestern corner of Cranborne Chase, separated from the Dorset Downs by the River Stour. It is owned by the National Trust.

Melbury Hill, whose summit is also called Melbury Beacon, is a prominent hill, 263 metres high, on the high chalk escarpment of the North Dorset Downs above the village of Melbury Abbas in the county of Dorset in southern England. From Melbury Beacon there are superb panoramic views of Blackmore Vale and Cranborne Chase, as well as the Saxon hilltop town of Shaftesbury less than 2 miles to the north.In 1588 an Armada beacon sited here formed part of a chain of signal beacons from London to Plymouth.There is a trig point on the summit and a National Trust-owned wood on its western flank above the A350 from Blandford Forum to Shaftesbury.

Stepleton House is a 17th-century country house in the parish of Iwerne Stepleton in Dorset, situated about 5 kilometres (3 mi) north of Blandford Forum, Dorset, England. It is a Grade I listed building.Originally built around a courtyard, the house is now a six- by five-bay block with flanking pavilions. It is constructed of ashlar in two storeys plus basement and attics with a hipped stone slate roof. The main house dates from the 17th century and the pavilions from the 18th century. The six-bay frontage has a two-bay pedimented centrepiece. The house stands in a 110-hectare (270-acre) park through which runs the River Iwerne. The grounds and the stable block are separately Grade II listed.

Iwerne Stepleton (anciently Ewern Stapleton, etc.) is a small civil parish and former manor in the county of Dorset, England. The parish comprises about 800 acres of land and lies on the eastern side of the River Iwerne. The soil is chalk. The surviving St Mary's parish church, to the west of the parish, was founded in about 1100 and stood originally surrounded by the village of Iwerne Stepleton, deserted at some time before 1662 and replaced by the surviving large structure of Stepleton House.

St Thomas's Church is a Grade II listed building in East Orchard, Dorset. The church dates from 1859. The Diocese of Salisbury discontinued services in 2018, and in 2023 planning permission as granted to turn the church into a residential property.
