Hanumanthanagar, is a locality in the Banashankari suburb of South Bangalore. It gets its name from the Ramanjaneya Temple near the Kengal Hanumanthaiah Kalaa Soudha, which was built during the time of Kengal Hanumanthaiah, the then chief minister of Karnataka. This area is one of the oldest areas of Bangalore with large Brahmin population. Byatarayanapura, Srinagar, Nagendra Block, Kalidasa Layout, Raghavendra Block, Brindavan Nagar, Srinivasa Nagar, Vidyapeetha, Mysore Bank Colony and Ashok Nagar are the surrounding neighbourhoods. Hanumanthanagar is well-known for the Ramanjaneya Temple, Kumara Swamy Devasthana and K H Kalasoudha. The Head Office of the Hanumanthanagar Cooperative Bank (which has many branches in Bangalore) is also located here.

B.M.S. College of Engineering (BMSCE) is a private engineering college in Basavanagudi, Bangalore, India. It was started in 1946 by Bhusanayana Mukundadas Sreenivasaiah and is run by the B.M.S. Educational Trust. It is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University and became autonomous in 2008. BMSCE is located on Bull Temple Road, Basavanagudi, diagonally opposite to the famous Bull Temple. Though a private college, it is partially funded by the Government of Karnataka.

Acharya Pathasala (transl. Teacher School) is an organization in southern Bangalore, Karnataka, India. It was founded in 1935 by Prof. N Ananthachar. Acharya Pathasala Public School, started in 1989, is a co-educational English medium school, headed by Sri T. V. Maruthi, President of the Board of Management and Dr. A.S. Vishnu Bharath, Chartered Accountant as Chairman of Governing Council. The School is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (ICSE). The school has had 100% results for X Standard in Board Exams over many years. It offers courses from upper kindergarten to X std. The school has been placed as one of the top ICSE schools in bangalore

Kadalekai Parishe (Kannada: ಕಡಲೆಕಾಯಿ ಪರಿಷೆ), is an annual groundnut fair which takes place in Basavanagudi and Malleshwaram of Bangalore. This is a two to three-day fair. Farmers from other parts of the state bring their first crop of groundnuts to offer to Basavanna. Also, there will be numerous stalls of Groundnuts, with all different varieties such as, freshly plucked groundnuts, fried groundnuts, with shell, unshelled, boiled groundnuts and many. Apart from the Groundnuts, there are numerous stalls in the fair, selling Bangles, Bags, traditional toys and clay trinkets, plastic and glass dolls, Mehndi tattoos. There are a variety of food items, such as Bajji, Bonda, Batthaas (Coloured sugar candies), Kalyana seve or Bendu (Sugar coated gram) and Coloured sodas on sale during the fair. Over 200 groundnut vendors were benefited and the total plastic consumption at the fair came down by over 60%.

The Basavanagudi Inscriptions are a set of three Kannada and one Tamil inscriptions that can be found in the locality of Basavanagudi. Of the four, three Kannada inscriptions are physically present and the fourth Tamil inscription's physical status remains unknown. The available Kannada inscriptions can be found in Bugle rock park and Dodda Basavana Gudi or Big bull temple. Two inscriptions found in the vicinity of Dodda Basavana Gudi or Big bull temple, both describe the Vrishabhavati river's origin as coming from the feet of the Basava idol in the temple's sanctum and flowing westwards thereon as Paschimavahini. The two inscriptions can be found: one on the pedestal of the Basava deity in the sanctum and the other on a boulder in the shrubbery surrounding the temple. Two more inscriptions that are published, one is a one line Tamil inscription in Grantha script published in Epigraphia Carnatica and is about possible donatory inscription to the Chokkanathaswamy Temple in Domlur, a locality in Bengaluru, its physical status is not known at present and the other is a one line Kannada inscription in the Kannada script published in Itihasa Darshana Journal and is present on a boulder in the Bugle rock park in Basavanagudi is about one Deevatige Soma .

Dodda Basavana Gudi (the Nandhi Temple) is situated in Bull Temple Road, Basavanagudi, area of South Bengaluru, part of the largest city of the Indian state of Karnataka. The Hindu temple is inside a park called Bugle Rock. The bull referred to is a sacred Hindu demi-god, known as Nandi; Nandi is a close devotee and attendant of Shiva. Dodda Basavana Gudi is said to be one of the biggest temple to Nandi in the world. The stone monolith idol of Nandi is continually covered with new layers of butter, benne in the local language of Kannada. There is an idol of the elephant-headed Hindu deity Ganesha close by. Every year on the last Monday and Tuesday of the Hindu month of Karthika Maasa a groundnut fair is held in the temple premises and groundnut is offered to the deity. This fair is known as 'Kadalekaayi Parishe' in local tongue. Groundnut sellers and devotees throng the place during Kadalekaayi Parishe. Basavana Gudi is a regular place of visit for tourists and is covered by most of the tour operators including the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation.

Poornaprajna Vidyapeetha is a gurukula in Bangalore, that was founded by Sri Vishwesha Teertha Swamiji of Pejavara Matha, Udupi in 1956. It is dedicated to the preservation and propagation of Indian philosophical texts.

Bugle Rock (Kahale Bande) is a massive rock in the Basavanagudi area of South Bangalore, in the state of Karnataka. It is an abrupt rise above the ground of peninsular gneiss as the main rock formation and with an assessed age of about 3,000 million years. Bugle Rock has generated wide interest among the scientific community.Kempe Gowda II (who came to power in 1585), the feudal ruler of Bangalore, is credited with building four watchtowers setting limits for Bangalore's expansion, which included a tower on the Bugle Rock (on the southern boundary) as it commands a panoramic view of Bangalore city. It is said that at sunset a sentry would blow the bugle and hold a torch (Kannada:panju) which was visible from the other three watch towers (one on the southern bank of the Kempambudi tank on the west, the second near Ulsoor Lake in the east and the third tower adjoining Ramana Maharshi Ashram on Bellary Road, namely Mekhri Circle in the north). This was done to inform people that everything was safe at that location and to give a warning bugle call to alert the citizens of any intruders into the city. Most of the rocks on the Bugle Rock, next to the Bull Temple, have hollows, which were once used to light lamps. This landmark spreads over an area of 16 acres (6.5 ha). This rock is contiguous and similar to the rock at Lalbagh tower.

Basavanagudi is a residential and commercial locality in the Indian city of Bangalore. It is located in South Bangalore, along the borders of Jayanagar. The name "Basavanagudi" refers to the Bull Temple, which contains a monolith statue of the Nandi Bull. The word Basava in Kannada means bull, and gudi means temple.Basavanagudi is one of the oldest areas of Bangalore. 4.6 km far from Bangalore City Railway Station and BMTC, and 38.7 km to Kempegowda International airport. The main commercial street of Basavanagudi is DVG Road, which is home to numerous retail businesses - several of them dating back to the 1920s and 1930s. Towards the middle of DVG Road is Gandhi Bazaar for fresh flowers, fruits, and vegetables. The neighbourhood includes several historic restaurants, notably Vidyarthi Bhavan, a vegetarian restaurant which was opened in 1943.

Gavi Gangadhareshwara Temple also Gavipuram Cave Temple, an example of Indian rock-cut architecture, is located in Bangalore in the state of Karnataka in India. The temple is famous for its mysterious stone discs in the forecourt and the exact planning allowing the sun to shine on shrine in certain time of the year. It was built in the 16th century by Kempe Gowda I, the founder of the city.

Gandhi Bazaar is a busy market area in Basavanagudi, Bangalore, known mainly for its flower and condiment hawker shops. One of the oldest areas in the city, Gandhi Bazaar is said to be traditional and conservative. The area also houses many temples; fruit, vegetable and cloth stores; and restaurants, including the Vidyarthi Bhavan which was started in 1943. The market typically functions from 6am to 9pm, with an increased crowd during festival periods for buying puja items. DVG Road, which has some of the oldest business outlets in the city, runs through the centre of Gandhi Bazaar and is the commercial centre of Basavanagudi.Kannada writer Masti Venkatesha Iyengar was a resident of this locality.

Banashankari, abbreviated as BSK, is a locality in South Bangalore. It gets its name from the Banashankari Temple on Kanakapura Road, one of Bangalore's oldest and well known temples constructed by Subramanya Shetty in 1915. Banashankari is the largest locality in Bangalore, extending all the way from Mysore Road to Kanakapura Road. It is bound by Girinagar and Rajarajeshwari Nagar in the west, Basavangudi in the north, Jayanagar and J.P. Nagar in the east, and Padmanabhanagar, Kumaraswamy Layout, ISRO Layout, Vasanthapura and Uttarahalli in the south.
