Kingsborough Community College (KBCC) is a public community college in Brooklyn, New York. It is part of the City University of New York (CUNY) system and the only community college in Brooklyn.

The United States Maritime Service Training Station at Sheepshead Bay was opened on September 1, 1942. It closed on February 28, 1954.The station was the largest maritime training station during World War II and was equipped to train 30,000 merchant seamen each year. The site is now occupied by Kingsborough Community College, and has been since the mid-1960s.

Manhattan Beach Air Force Station was a United States Air Force installation located in Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn, New York City, and operational from 1954 to 1959. Built on land originally operated by the United States Maritime Service and the United States Coast Guard, it was later transferred to the Department of the Army, and later Kingsborough Community College.

Brooklyn Amity School (also known as Amity) is a UPK-12 private school that was founded in 1999. As of 2016, 256 students were enrolled.

Sheepshead Bay is a neighborhood in southern Brooklyn, New York City. It is bounded by Ocean Parkway to the west; Avenue T and Kings Highway to the north; Nostrand Avenue and Gerritsen Avenue to the east; and the Atlantic Ocean to the south. Sheepshead Bay is abutted by the neighborhoods of Brighton Beach and Homecrest to the west; Midwood to the north; and Gerritsen Beach to the east. Shore Boulevard Mall is a waterfront promenade extending for nearly a mile along the southern bank of Sheepshead Bay in the Manhattan Beach neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. Residential development began in the area in 1907, following the decline of local racetracks and hotels. Along the northern side of the Manhattan Beach peninsula, Shore Boulevard was constructed in 1907 in a manner resembling a parkway, with a wide shoulder along the water's edge containing rows of trees and a pedestrian path with benches overlooking Sheephead Bay.At the eastern tip of Manhattan Beach, Kingsborough Community College occupies the former site of a United States Coast Guard station; while the western end of Shore Boulevard contains Holocaust Memorial Park, which contains a monument completed in 1997 to commemorate victims of Nazi persecution. Between these two sites, the Ocean Avenue Footbridge connects Shore Boulevard Mall to mainland Brooklyn.

Randazzo's Clam Bar is an Italian Restaurant, opened in 1959, in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. It was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy in 2012 but was able to reopen 6 months later.The restaurant appeared on Man v. Food (season 9) where host Casey Webb had the linguine with white clam sauce. Randazzo's was one of Anthony Bourdain's five favorite under-the-radar NYC restaurants. He is favorite dish is the lobster fra diavolo and he also enjoyed the chicken parmigiana, and broiled salmon. He said "portions that could have once fed an entire block on the Lower East Side."

Sheepshead Bay High School is a defunct public high school in Brooklyn, New York City, New York. Closed in 2016, the building currently operates as Frank J. Macchiarola Educational Complex, housing several smaller high schools.

Gerretsen's Mill is an 18th century tide mill, at Gravesend, Long Island, also known as Johannes Gerritsen's Mill and the Whitney mill, derived its name from a 1750s Dutch miller in the area of Marine park, Brooklyn. The mill was situated near what is now known as Garritson's Creek and Mill Pond, formerly referred to as the Strome Kil. The origin of the name can be traced back to historical references, including an Indian deed mentioning land belonging to Hugh Garretson, likely referring to the same location. The farm was parceled to Dutch settler Wolfert Gerritse van Couwenhoven (1 May 1579 – 1662),an original patentee, director of bouweries (farms), and a founder of the New Netherland colony. The three-hundred-year-old mill was destroyed by fire in 1935 by arson.

Gerritsen Beach is a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Brooklyn, located between Sheepshead Bay to the west and Marine Park to the east. The area is served by Brooklyn Community Board 15. The population of the neighborhood is 8,353 as of the 2010 U.S. census.

Plumb Beach (sometimes spelled "Plum") is a beach and surrounding neighborhood along the north shore of Rockaway Inlet, in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. It is located near the neighborhoods of Sheepshead Bay and Gerritsen Beach, just off the Belt Parkway. Plumb Beach was originally part of a small island until Hog Creek was filled in during the late 1930s, connecting the beach to the rest of Brooklyn. Since 1972 it has been a part of Gateway National Recreation Area, though the parking lot and greenway that provide primary access to the shore are the responsibility of the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation and the New York City Department of Transportation. The neighborhood is part of Brooklyn Community District 15, although a section of the beach is not part of a Community District.In May and June, horseshoe crabs climb onto the beach to mate. That beach is often subjected to heavy beach erosion, as incoming storms often blow large amounts of water up the Rockaway Inlet past the beach into Jamaica Bay. In the summer, the beach attracts kiteboarding enthusiasts, as the southerly sea breeze makes the area ideal for this use.
