Smiths Station High School is a high school in Smiths Station, Alabama, enrolling grades 9 to 12. The school enrolls about 1,382 students, and is one of four high schools in the Lee County School District along with Beauregard, Beulah, and Loachapoka High Schools.

Glenwood School is a co-educational private for pupils from grades K1 through 12. The school is located in Smiths Station, Alabama in southeastern Lee County. It serves 577 students. The school is accredited by both the Alabama Independent School Association and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. It was founded in 1970 as a segregation academy.

Fort No. 5 is a historic American Civil War fort in Phenix City, Alabama. It was built in 1863 as one of eight forts for the defense of Columbus, Georgia, which was a major producer of war materiel for the Confederacy. The pentagonal fort is 30 yards (27 m) per side, with earthen walls. During the Battle of Columbus on April 16, 1865, the Confederate army was badly undermanned, and Fort No. 5 was left unoccupied as the Union Army captured Columbus. The fort was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

Garrett–Harrison Stadium is a high school football stadium in Phenix City, Russell County, Alabama, United States, and it has been used for college and high school football games. It is owned by the City of Phenix City and is the home stadium for the football team from Central High School Red Devils. Most famously, the stadium played host to the NCAA Division III Football Championship, also known as the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl, from 1973 to 1982 and again from 1985 to 1989. In 2014, Tuskegee and Albany State played a neutral-site game at the stadium called the White Water Classic. It was the first college football game at the stadium since the last Division III championship held at Garrett-Harrison in 1989.

Lake Oliver is a 2,150-acre (8.7 km2) reservoir on the Chattahoochee River, which lies south of Goat Rock Dam (Goat Rock Lake). The lake is created by the Oliver Dam and Generating Plant, which was completed in 1959 by Georgia Power. The lake was named for James McCoy Oliver, an executive of Georgia Power at the time. Oliver Dam has four turbine units, and the dam itself is 70 feet tall and 2,150 feet (660 m) long. At the southern end of the reservoir, Lake Oliver is relatively wide but quickly narrows and becomes almost riverine at the northern end of the lake, at the foot of the Goat Rock Dam upstream. Public access to the lake is limited to one marina owned by the City of Columbus. Since Lake Oliver is entirely within the city limits of Columbus, Georgia, the shore is densely settled on both the Georgia and Alabama sides. Green Island Hills, an upscale development, is located on the lake at the mouth of Standing Boy Creek. Given the amount of settlement, there are many private access points to the lake. In the summer, the lake is very crowded with recreational activity. The other three seasons usually see anglers fishing for sunfish. Lake Oliver also serves as the municipal water supply for Columbus. The location of Oliver Dam is approximately at the Fall Line of the Chattahoochee River. Between Oliver Dam and the downtown Columbus, a few miles downstream, the river drops nearly 100 feet (30 m) in elevation. Lake Oliver is the northernmost point of the Chattahoochee Riverwalk a fifteen-mile long bicycle pathway that extends southward to Fort Benning.

Roaring Branch is a stream in the U.S. state of Georgia. It empties into Lake Oliver.A variant name is "Roaring Creek". The name Roaring Creek first appeared in the 1820s.
