Delft University of Technology

The TU Delft Library is the main library of the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), located in Delft, Netherlands. It was designed by the Dutch architecture firm Mecanoo and built in 1997. It is the largest technical scientific library in the Netherlands.

Delft Aerospace Rocket Engineering is a student-run society within Delft University of Technology, with over 190 members. The main focus of the student group is the development of rocket technology on a non-profit basis. All development, from engines to electronics, is done in-house. Although several projects take place in DARE, the group's two flagship projects are Stratos and Project Sparrow. Stratos includes the Stratos I rocket which was launched in 2009 and set the European altitude record for amateur rocketry at 12.5 km. The follow-up of this rocket was the Stratos II+, which was launched on 16 October 2015, reaching an altitude of 21.5 km and breaking the European altitude record. In summer of 2018, Stratos III was launched, disintegrating 20 seconds after the launch. Its successor, Stratos IV, is currently in development. Project Sparrow is the newest project, working on a liquid-fueled rocket engine, which will be designed to go beyond the Kármán line. Even though DARE cooperates with the military to safely conduct launch campaigns, DARE's technology is strictly non-military. Approximately 70 percent of members come from the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering of Delft University of Technology, with the remaining 30% coming from other faculties, including Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics and Industrial Design. DARE also features a very high number of international students, with about half of the students coming from outside the Netherlands.

The Formula Student Team Delft (FS Team Delft) is a Dutch Formula Student team based in Delft and composed mostly of students from the Delft University of Technology. The team is known for designing constructing lightweight Formula Student racing cars and competing in the global Formula Student competition since 2001. Having won Formula Student UK three times (2011, 2014, 2015) and Formula Student Germany six times (2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015), FS Team Delft is currently among the highest ranked teams in the Formula Student competition.

The Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment at TU Delft (Dutch: Faculteit Bouwkunde; abbr. BK ) is the largest faculty of TU Delft with around 2,900 students. It is also one of the top faculties in the world: it was ranked 2nd in the world's top universities for architecture & built environment in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2020, following the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and 3rd in 2015, 2017 and 2018 an 2019.

The Studentenstam De Delftsche Zwervers (Delft Rovers Student Crew) is a student society in Delft, Netherlands. Dating from 1915, it is the world's oldest student Scouting group, first as a club for former Scouts, from 1920 as a Rover crew. They are housed in the Scout Centre "Kruithuis", the monumental gunpowder ammunition dump of the Dutch Republic, designed in 1660 by Pieter Post. The members are students at the Delft University of Technology and other higher education institutions.

The eastern gate in Delft, Netherlands, is an example of Brick Gothic northern European architecture that was built around 1400. Around 1510, the towers were enhanced with an additional octagonal floor and high spires. This is the only city gate remaining in Delft; the others were demolished in the 19th century. It currently serves as an art gallery and private residence.

The Koninklijk Nederlands Legermuseum (Royal Dutch Army Museum) is the former national museum of the Dutch Army. Until 2013, it was located in the Armamentarium in Delft. In 2013 it was merged with the Militaire Luchtvaartmuseum (Military Aviation Museum), based on the former airbase at Soesterberg, where the new merged museum (Militaire Luchtvaart Museum) is based and where its new stores were opened on 13 May 2009 by Jeroen Sikkel, Secretary General for Defence.

Delft Campus railway station is a railway station in Delft, Netherlands, located on the railway line between The Hague and Rotterdam. The railway station was opened on 31 May 1970. The station building was demolished in June 2006. The name of the station was Delft Zuid until 14 December 2019. The station area is dominated by the overpassing viaduct, which carries the Kruithuisweg, a provincial Highway, over the railroad. The viaduct is also used by pedestrians and travellers to reach the platforms at the other side.

The Reactor Institute Delft (Dutch: Reactor Instituut Delft), or RID, is a nuclear research institute at Delft University of Technology in Delft, Netherlands. The institute features the Hoger Onderwijs Reactor (HOR, Dutch: Higher Education Reactor), a 2 MWt pool-type research reactor. Neutron research instruments are developed using several neutron beam lines leading from the core. One of the most intense positron beam lines in the world is powered by gamma-pair production near the reactor core.

The Stadsleenbank Delft is a former Bank van Lening on the Burgwal 45 in Delft, and serves today as a pop music podium for concerts. The gable stone is inscribed '1769 Den Ingangh van de Stadsleenbanck', whereby "Den Ingangh" means entrance. Delft first received rights for a city lombard or "lommerd" bank in 1287 from Floris V. In 1367 similar rights "as in Delft" were granted to Haarlem by Albert I, Duke of Bavaria. The Lombard bankers sold out to the city council in 1676, and the bank functioned until 1923 when it was dissolved. The archives 1676-1923 were only partially retained and were inventoried in 1970 and are today in the collection of the city of Delft.

The Delft Synagogue is a Reconstructionist Jewish congregation and synagogue, located at Koornmarkt 12, in the city of Delft, in the South Holland region of The Netherlands. Designed by L. Winkel in the Neoclassical style, the synagogue was completed in 1862, fell into disuse after World War II, was subsequently restored and reconsecrated from 1974. Since 2005, the synagogue has been home to the OJG Klal Israël (Dutch: OPEN Joodse Gemeente Klal Israël congregation, translates into English as the OPEN Jewish Congregation Klal Israel). Services are held in the synagogue twice a month. Rabbi Hannah Nathans is rabbi of OJG Klal Israël since 2 October 2016.

The Nieuwe Kerk (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈniʋə ˈkɛr(ə)k]; English: New Church) is a Protestant church in the city of Delft in the Netherlands. The building is located on Delft Market Square (Markt), opposite to the City Hall (Dutch: Stadhuis). In 1584, William the Silent was entombed here in a mausoleum designed by Hendrick and Pieter de Keyser. Since then members of the House of Orange-Nassau have been entombed in the royal crypt. The latest are Queen Juliana and her husband Prince Bernhard in 2004. The private royal family crypt is not open to the public. The church tower, designed by Pierre Cuypers and completed in 1872, is the second highest in the Netherlands, after the Domtoren in Utrecht.
