The Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn, located at 856 Pacific Street between Vanderbilt and Underhill Avenues in the Prospect Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn in New York City, was built in 1912 in the Spanish Colonial style, replacing a previous church built in 1861. The parish was founded in 1850 to serve the large immigrant population that was moving into the city of Brooklyn at the time. On February 14, 2013, Pope Benedict XVI approved the petition of Bishop Nicholas Anthony DiMarzio to have the church designated as the diocesan co-cathedral because the Cathedral Basilica of St. James is too small to hold diocesan liturgies, and because of its prime location near the newly opened Barclays Center and a construction boom that was to include 16,000 new apartments in the area. The church can hold 1,500 worshippers, and as of 2014 averaged 700 at Sunday mass, up from only a few dozen 10 years earlier. The building underwent an $18.5 million renovation.The church's campus also includes a Gothic revival rectory next door at 834 Pacific Street, built around 1860, and a school at 683 Dean Street, built around 1920, which is now used as a senior center.

The Church of St. Luke and St. Matthew is a historic Episcopal church at 520 Clinton Avenue between Fulton Street and Atlantic Avenue in the Clinton Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. This congregation was founded as St. Luke's Protestant Episcopal Church in 1842 following the failure of Trinity Church, which had been consecrated in the same building on June 1, 1835, by Bishop Onderdonk of the Diocese of Long Island. The founding of a church in this location resulted from the expansion of Brooklyn beyond initial European settlement in Brooklyn Heights. The building was constructed on a property consisting of eight city lots donated by George W. Pine.The congregation's building eventually grew to be the largest in the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island. It merged with the St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in 1943, and the Church of St. Michael and St. Mark in 1993.

Vanderbilt Avenue was a station on the demolished BMT Fulton Street Line. The Fulton Street Elevated was built by the Kings County Elevated Railway Company and this station started service on April 24, 1888. The station had 2 tracks and 2 side platforms. It was served by trains of the BMT Fulton Street Line, and until 1920, trains of the BMT Brighton Line. This station was served by steam locomotives between 1888 and 1899. In 1898, the Brooklyn Rapid Transit Company (BRT) absorbed the Kings County Elevated Railway, and it took over the Fulton Street El, and it was electrified on July 3, 1899. It also had a connection to the streetcar line of the same name. In 1936, the Independent Subway System built the Fulton Street subway and added a station one block to the southeast named Clinton–Washington Avenues. The el station became obsolete, and it closed on June 1, 1940, when all service from Fulton Ferry and Park Row to Rockaway Avenue was abandoned, as it came under city ownership.

Prospect Heights is a neighborhood in the northwest of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The traditional boundaries are Flatbush Avenue to the west, Atlantic Avenue to the north, Eastern Parkway – beginning at Grand Army Plaza – to the south, and Washington Avenue to the east. In the northern section of Prospect Heights are the Vanderbilt Rail Yards, built over as part of the Pacific Park (formerly Atlantic Yards) project. The neighborhood is served by the New York Police Department's 77th Precinct.

Sarah Smith Garnet Elementary School, also known as P.S. 9, is a public elementary school of the New York City Department of Education, located at 80 Underhill Avenue in the Prospect Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. The school was renamed from "Teunis G. Bergen" to its current name in 2019.Famous alumni include the classical composer Aaron Copland, who was an honor student in 1914.

Prospect Heights Historic District is a national historic district in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, New York City. It consists of 305 contributing buildings built between 1865 and about 1900. The district is almost exclusively residential and includes a variety of single family rowhouses and multiple dwellings. They are in a variety of architectural styles popular in the late-19th century.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Clinton–Washington Avenues station is a local station on the IND Fulton Street Line of the New York City Subway. Located on Fulton Street between Clinton Avenue and Washington Avenue, it is served by the C train at all times except nights, when the A train takes over service.

The South Oxford Tennis Club was an athletic club and event space in the Fort Greene neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York which was in operation from 1981 to 1997. It was noted as the only Black-owned tennis club in New York City and for its role as a community hub, particularly for the Black and gay communities of its district. In the assessment of Patrick Sauer, "What started out as a Brooklyn hot spot for matches on green Har-Tru clay would become, during its 16-year existence, a focal point for the surrounding, predominantly Black neighborhoods. It was a place where kids could take free lessons, members competed in tournaments, future hip-hop legends spit rhymes, folks marked important occasions, politicians held fund-raisers, and the area's gay community found an unlikely locus."

St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Brooklyn at 423 Clinton Street at Carroll Street in the Carroll Gardens neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City was built from 1867 to 1884 and was designed by Richard Upjohn & Son in the High Victorian Gothic style. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.The parish is part of the Episcopal Church in the United States of America in the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island, part of the worldwide Anglican Communion, in the Anglo-Catholic tradition.

Public School 9 and Public School 9 Annex are two historic school buildings located at 249 and 251 Sterling Place, respectively, at Vanderbilt Avenue in the Prospect Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. Public School 9 consists of a central, two-story gabled section flanked by two-story wings. The central section dates to 1867–68 and was designed by Samuel B. Leonard in the Early Romanesque Revival style. The two wings were added in 1887 and were designed by James W. Naughton. The school was originally Public School 9, later becoming Public School 111, and currently P.S. 340.Public School 9 Annex was necessitated by the continued population growth of Prospect Heights, which caused overcrowding in the original school. It was designed by James W. Naughton and built in 1895. It is a three-story, H-shaped, brick building crowned by gable dormer windows. The Romanesque Revival building incorporates Renaissance Revival style details. The building has been converted into condominium apartments under the name "P.S. 9". Both buildings were separately designated New York City Landmarks in 1978, as "Public School 9" and "Public School 9 Annex" and were listed together on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981, as "Public School 111 and Public School 9 Annex"
