The East Second Street Commercial Historic District in Hastings, Minnesota, United States, is a downtown district consisting of thirty-five commercial buildings built between 1860 and 1900. The downtown area retained its historic integrity even as other communities modernized their downtowns as a result of post-World War II urban renewal efforts. The district contains a number of two- and three-story buildings, each in a unique style. Although the buildings are very different, common features include distinctive parapets at the roofline, often with the name of the business inlaid in brick or metal. The storefronts include large display windows with a main entrance flanked by cast iron or wooden columns. The upper levels of the buildings often include windows topped with ornate hoods.The historic integrity of the district is maintained through a number of guidelines that encourage restoration of buildings to their original appearance, replacement of any historic features that were altered, and avoidance of alterations that are not in keeping with the buildings' original historic context.

First Presbyterian Church, known also as First United Presbyterian Church, is a church located at 602 Vermillion Street in downtown Hastings, Minnesota, United States, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is significant for its Romanesque architecture. The building is characterized by its massive quality, its thick walls, round arches, large towers, and decorative arcading. The congregation was established in 1855 by Reverend Charles LeDuc, the brother of William LeDuc. The congregation built a stone church at that time, then decided to build a new, larger church in 1875. It was designed by Charles N. Daniels. Because of financial difficulties, it took nearly seven years to finish the building, although it was complete enough to host its first services in 1881. In 1907 the tall steeple was struck by lightning, which started a fire that left the church gutted. Architect Harry Wild Jones from Minneapolis was hired to design the restoration. He was asked to make the new church resemble the original as much as possible, so both the interior and the exterior are his work.

The VanDyke–Libby House, located at 612 Vermillion Street in Hastings, Minnesota is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built in 1868 by William J. Van Dyke, a banker and merchant. In 1880 the home was bought by Rowland C. Libby who was part-owner of a saw mill and door and sash factory. He lived there until 1911; in 1914 the building was converted to a sanitarium. Originally known as Hope Sanitarium, its name was later changed to St. Raphael's Hospital, which in 1929 moved to the Thompson-Fasbender House.The building's Second Empire architecture is reflected in its mansard roof and imposing size. The original cost to build the house was an exorbitant $25,000.

The Rudolph Latto House is a historic house in Hastings, Minnesota, United States, built 1880–1881. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for local significance in architecture for its transitional Italianate/Eastlake design. It was built in white Chaska brick.

The Claflin-Norrish House is a historic octagonal house located in Hastings, Minnesota, United States; a contributing property to the West Second Street Residential Historic District. The two-story home was built of limestone covered with stucco. Special features include a windowed cupola and wrap-around porch. It still stands at Spring and West 2nd Streets. It is one of scores of eight-sided homes built in the antebellum United States. Originally built for the Clafflin family, John F. Norris purchased the house in the late 19th century. After the mid-1940s, the house was remodeled into 5 unit apartments. It was bought by John and Lorena Phelps and has been going through renovation to make it a single family house.

The West Second Street Residential Historic District is a historic district in Hastings, Minnesota, United States. The district contains thirteen architecturally significant homes built between 1857 and 1890.

The Hastings High Bridge was a continuous steel through truss bridge that spanned the Mississippi River in Hastings, Minnesota, United States. It was designed by Sverdrup and Parcel and was built in 1951 by Graus Construction Company of Hasting for $356,000. It was demolished in late 2013 when the current Hastings Bridge opened. It had been scheduled to be torn down and replaced by MNDot in 2019, but after the I-35W bridge collapse in Minneapolis, it was re-prioritized and construction started in 2010.

Hastings Methodist Episcopal Church is a church building located at 719 Vermillion Street in downtown Hastings, Minnesota, United States, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is significant for its Gothic Revival, Greek Revival, and Italianate architecture. The building exterior is clapboard with a characteristic tower including abat-sons and emphatic eaves supported by corbels. It is the oldest church building in Hastings, originally built in 1862 on 5th Street, it was moved to its present location in 1871; at that time the tower was added. The building is currently used by the Life Tabernacle Pentecostal Church.

The Hastings Bridge is a free standing tied-arch bridge that spans the Mississippi River in Hastings, Minnesota, United States. It was designed by Parsons and was built in 2013 by Lunda Construction Company for $119,830,000. The Hastings Bridge replaces the former Hastings High Bridge, which was built in 1951 and demolished in 2013 when the replacement bridge was completed. The Hastings High Bridge had been scheduled to be torn down and replaced in 2019, but after the I-35W bridge collapse in Minneapolis, the MNDOT re-prioritized the replacement and construction of the new bridge started in 2010. Following the August 1, 2007 collapse of the I-35W Mississippi River bridge, the Hastings High Bridge was inspected between August 20 and August 31, 2007. An executive summary of the inspection report was released on January 15, 2008, questioning whether the bridge was capable of sustaining its 40-ton posted capacity, and calling for a load analysis to be performed immediately. Because the existing bridge was obsolete and average daily traffic exceeded 30,000 vehicles, MNDOT accelerated the new bridge project to begin in 2010. Three design-build teams submitted proposals on June 30, 2010, and the contract was awarded to the joint venture Lunda/Ames. In June 2013, two of the four lanes of the new bridge were open for traffic, and in November 2013 all four lanes opened. The new bridge cost $130 million and is the longest free-standing tied-arch bridge in North America, at a length of 545 feet. The main span is composed of arches, girders, beams, stringers, and roadway, offering four lanes of traffic plus twelve feet of mixed use pedestrian and bike path. The new bridge has an anti-icing system. Other features include: a public art mural on the south abutment wall, a scenic overlook incorporated near Levee Park, additional parking beneath the bridge, and lighting. The new bridge is expected to have a 100-year lifespan.

The Byron Howes House (also known as the Howes-Graus House) is a historic house located at 718 Vermillion Street in Hastings, Minnesota.

The MacDonald–Todd House is an 1857 home in Hastings in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The Greek Revival-style house was built by A.W. MacDonald in the utopian town of Nininger when he relocated to Dakota County from New York. He came to become the managing editor of the Emigrant Aid Journal. The paper was owned by Lieutenant Governor Ignatius Donnelly, who also founded the community of Nininger. In 1866, the home was moved across the ice in the Mississippi River to its present location, by Irving Todd, who had bought it for $385.
