North Carolina Executive Mansion

Marshall-Harris-Richardson House is a historic home located at Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina. It was built about 1900, and is a two-story, asymmetrical, Queen Anne-style frame dwelling. It has a one-story, hip roofed front porch. It features a steeply-pitched truncated hipped roof with projecting gables. It was moved to its present location in the fall of 1985.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The Heck-Andrews House was finished in 1870 and was one of the first houses in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina to be constructed after the American Civil War. It is located at 309 North Blount Street. It was created by G.S.H. Appleget for Mrs. Mattie Heck, the wife of Colonel Jonathan McGee Heck. It is on the National Register of Raleigh Historic Property. The house has a dramatic central tower capped with a convex mansard roof with a balustrade. The central part of the 2+1⁄2-story, Second Empire style frame dwelling is enclosed with a concave mansard roof with patterned slate.The house was owned by the Heck family until 1916 and was sold to A.B. Andrews. In 1948, Andrews heir sold the house to Julia Russell. The North Carolina government bought the house in 1987 planning to refurbish the structure. The exterior refurbishment was completed, however the State sold the house to the North Carolina Association of Realtors in January 2016 who plan on using it as an office building.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

The State Library of North Carolina is an institution which serves North Carolina libraries, state government employees, genealogists, and the citizens of North Carolina. The library is the main depository for North Carolina state publications and serves the needs of North Carolina government agencies and state government employees by providing access to information resources that are vital to public decision-making and economic development. The State Library of North Carolina is a division of the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, an agency that promotes and protects North Carolina’s arts, history, and culture. The library has two locations, both in the state capital, Raleigh. The main building is located on East Jones Street next to the North Carolina State Legislative Building and near the North Carolina Museum of History and the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. The Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped is located on Capital Boulevard.

The State Archives of North Carolina, officially the North Carolina Division of Archives and Records, is a division of North Carolina state government responsible for collecting, preserving, and providing public access to historically significant archival materials relating to North Carolina, and responsible for providing guidance on the preservation and management of public government records to state, county, city and state university officials. First founded as the North Carolina Historical Commission in 1903, the State Archives has undergone multiple changes in organization, title, and relation to other state agencies. Since May 2012, it has been known as the Division of Archives and Records within the North Carolina Department of Natural & Cultural Resources' Office of Archives and History.The State Archives includes four sections: Collection Services, Government Records, Digital Services, and Special Collections. The Outer Banks History Center (Manteo, N.C.), Western Regional Archives (Asheville, N.C.), and the main site at 109 East Jones Street in Raleigh account for the Archives' three locations open to the public. The State Archives' Government Records Section is responsible for administering records management services to state government agencies, local government agencies, and state-supported institutions of higher education in North Carolina, in accordance with its legislative mandates in General Statutes 121 and 132. As part of its records management program, the Government Records Section is responsible for managing the State Records Center. The State Archives houses over 50,000 linear feet of materials documenting North Carolina history, including government records and non-government materials. Government materials include records from state agencies, counties, and limited municipal records. Special collection materials (non-government materials) include individual and family papers (including extensive military collections), organizational records, records of defunct North Carolina educational institutions, and audio-visual collections. The State Archives currently collects government records in all formats, including born-digital materials ranging from documents, photographs, and videos to web archives and social media archives. It collaborates with the State Library of North Carolina to manage the North Carolina Digital Repository, which provides long-term archival preservation for born-digital and digitized government and non-government records and materials.

North Carolina Freedom Park in Raleigh, North Carolina is a park on Lane Street downtown between the Executive Mansion and the Legislative Building. Designed by Phil Freelon and the firm Perkins + Will, who helped design the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture, It opened August 23, 2023. The Park was Constructed by Holt Brothers Construction of Raleigh, North Carolina which was founded by Torry Holt and Terrence Holt. The park includes the North Carolina Victim Assistance Network’s Crime Victims’ Memorial Garden, which was already in the location. The total project cost of $5 million was funded partly from a Andrew W. Mellon Foundation grant of $1.9 million.

The Richard B. Haywood House, built in 1854, is a historic residence in the Capitol Area Historic District in Raleigh, North Carolina. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is the last home in the Capitol Area Historic District. The home is still owned by the Haywood family.Dr. Richard B. Haywood opposed North Carolina's secession from the United States during the Civil War, however he served as a surgeon in the North Carolina Militia on the staff of the Surgeon General. Union General William Tecumseh Sherman reached Raleigh after the Confederate defeat at Bentonville, the last major battle of the Carolinas Campaign. On April 13, 1865, Raleigh Mayor William H. Harrison asked Dr. Haywood to serve on a committee of emissaries that surrendered Raleigh to Sherman. The occupying Union forces in Raleigh were under the command of Major General Frank P. Blair, a friend of Dr. Haywood during their attendance at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Blair chose the Richard B. Haywood House as his headquarters during the occupation of Raleigh. Dr. Haywood and Blair hosted Sherman and General Ulysses S. Grant at the house.

The State Bank of North Carolina is the oldest surviving commercial building in Raleigh, North Carolina and was the first state-sponsored banking institution constructed in North Carolina. The bank was incorporated in 1810, but during the War of 1812 cash was moved inland to banks in Raleigh and Tarboro for fears that the British Army would attack the coast. The increase in money deposits resulted in the State Bank's construction in 1813. Jacob Johnson, the father of future President Andrew Johnson, was once employed at the bank. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970 and is a Raleigh Historic Landmark. It is located in the Capitol Area Historic District. The design of the State Bank is influenced by the Federal and Greek Revival styles of architecture. The brick building features matching two-story porticos on the east and west sides, supported by columns. For sixty years the building was used for banking until the Christ Episcopal Church acquired the facility in 1873 to use as a rectory. In 1968 the North Carolina National Bank, a predecessor of Bank of America, purchased the building and moved it 100 ft (30 m) for use as the bank's downtown branch. The building was moved to make room for an addition to the Christ Church's parish facility. In 1976 the building was home to the State Commission in charge of North Carolina's bicentennial celebration. Currently, the building is still being used as a bank. The State Employees Credit Union are the current owners.

The Andrews-Duncan House is a historic building located at 407 North Blount Street in Raleigh, North Carolina, United States. Built in 1874 for a prominent businessman, the Italianate style home was designed by architect George S. H. Appleget. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1972 and is currently owned by the state government. A large tree named after a presidential candidate once stood behind the house and is commemorated with a historical marker.

Garland Scott and Toler Moore Tucker House is a historic home located in the Oakwood neighborhood of Raleigh, North Carolina. It is located in the Oakwood Historic District. The house was built in 1914, and is a two-story, Southern Colonial Revival style frame dwelling with rear wings and porches. It has a brick foundation, weatherboard siding, and a slate-covered hipped roof. The front facade features a monumental rounded double-height porch, with four enormous fluted Ionic order columns. It was moved from its original located at 420 North Blount Street to 418 North Person Street, in 1974.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

Heck-Lee, Heck-Wynne, and Heck-Pool Houses are three historic homes located at Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina. They were built between 1871 and 1875, and are 1+1⁄2-story, L-shaped, Second Empire-style frame dwellings on brick foundations. They feature an Eastlake movement wrap-around porch, a full-height mansard roof and a 2+1⁄2-story corner mansard tower. Formerly separate kitchens have been connected to the main house by additions.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Lewis-Smith House is a historic home located at Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina, USA It was built between 1854 and 1856, and is a two-story, three-bay, Greek Revival-style frame dwelling with a low hipped roof and Italianate-style brackets. It features a two-tier pedimented entrance portico, with paired Doric order columns at the first level and well-detailed Ionic order ones at the second. Two-story, demi-octagonal projecting bays were added to the sides in the early-20th century.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

Christ Episcopal Church, also known as Christ Church on Capitol Square, is an Episcopal church at 120 East Edenton Street in Raleigh, North Carolina. Built in 1848–53 to a design by Richard Upjohn, it is one of the first Gothic Revival churches in the American South. The church was built for a parish established in 1821; its minister is the Rev. James P. Adams. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987.
