Södertälje

Södertälje Centrum (abbreviated Södertälje C) is a station on Stockholm's commuter train network, located in central Södertälje in Stockholm County, Sweden. The station is 38.1 km from Stockholm C, and is the terminus station of a branch line from Södertälje Hamn railway station. Södertälje Centrum serves SL train routes 40, 41 and 44 towards Stockholm. Line 48 to Gnesta also starts from here, which is the only of Stockholm's commuter train lines not running via Stockholm City.

The Södertälje Canal (Swedish: Södertälje kanal) is a canal connecting the lake Mälaren with the Baltic Sea, at the city of Södertälje. It is 5.2 km long, and it has one lock. The size of this lock is the largest in Scandinavia by allowed ship size. The lock is 135 m long and 17 m wide. The water level difference between Mälaren and the Baltic Sea is not large, on average 0.6 m (2 ft). This is the main shipping route into the lake Mälaren.

Tom Tits Experiment is a science centre located in the municipality of Södertälje in Stockholm County, Sweden – and the first permanent hands-on science centre in the Nordic countries. It started as a temporary exhibition in the Södertälje Art Hall in 1985. Two years later, a permanent exhibition was opened in its current premises, which were previously used for industrial purposes by the company Alfa Laval. The name Tom Tit comes from the French book Tom Tit – La Science Amusante by Arthur Good, which contains various experiments originally published in a French magazine under the pseudonym Tom Tit. Tom Tits Experiment comprises an area of 15,000 square metres and has exhibitions and experiments on the themes of technology, physics, mathematics, natural geography, biology, man and optical illusions. The indoor part occupies around 6,000 square metres, and the outdoor part 9,000 square metres. In total, the facility has about 500 experiments. In 2006 Tom Tits Experiment was awarded the Luigi Micheletti Award, a prestigious prize (under the auspices of the Council of Europe) for museums with a focus on contemporary history, science and the industrial and social cultural heritage of Europe.

Södertälje Municipality (Södertälje kommun) is a municipality in Stockholm County in east central Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Södertälje. It borders to Lake Mälaren in the north and the Baltic Sea in the south, and within the Stockholm County to Nykvarn Municipality and Salem Municipality and also border Södermanland County and its municipals Gnesta and Trosa. The municipality was created 1967–1971 through the amalgamation of the former City of Södertälje with large rural and suburban areas surrounding it. In 1999, it was split when a new entity, Nykvarn Municipality, was detached from Södertälje Municipality.

Bårsta IP is a stadium in Södertälje, Sweden. The stadium is best known for having been the stadium of football club Assyriska until late 2005. It was the club's home stadium during their sole season in Sweden's top football division Allsvenskan in 2005. The record attendance is 7620 which was set at a match between Assyriska and GIF Sundsvall in a promotion play-off in 1999. Assyriska has since moved on to Södertälje Fotbollsarena which was built in late 2005. The stadium is no longer well maintained but is still used by the Assyriska youth squad and Nya Södertälje KFF.
