Grapevine Canyon Petroglyphs

Grapevine Canyon is located in the Bridge Canyon Wilderness Area and the Spirit Mountain Wilderness within Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The canyon contains the Grapevine Canyon Petroglyphs and is accessible from Nevada State Route 163 which leads to Lower Grapevine Canyon Road. During non-drought years, the canyon contains a fresh water spring. The spring provides water for shrubbery along its path.While it was used by the Mohave people, the canyon may have served as a ritual location and for summer solstice observations. Various petroglyphs serve as evidence of use by the Mohave people

The Bridge Canyon Wilderness is a small wilderness area located in the Newberry Mountains in southern Nevada, United States, in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. It is also within Avi Kwa Ame National Monument. The rock outcrops and caves make this area very striking. Stands of cottonwood trees can be found along the Grapevine Wash and Sacatone Wash water courses. Canyon grape, cattails and rushes grow in Grapevine Canyon. Discover the petroglyphs of early Native Americans in the canyon. Reptiles include the Western chuckwalla, side-blotched lizard, and Gila monster.

Hiko Springs, also spelled Hyko Springs, is a natural spring located at the farming community of Hiko, in Lincoln County, eastern Nevada, United States. Its cool water flowing from the hillside spring supports the existence of the desert community. Hiko Springs flows beyond the spring for about 5 miles (8.0 km) in the northern end of the Pahranagat Valley. It also supplies irrigation water for valley farms there, and for riparian habitats in the Key Pittman Wildlife Management Area. It fills the small Nesbitt Lake and Frenchie Lake within the Nevada state wildlife preserve.

The Newberry Mountains in Nevada are located east of Cal-Nev-Ari and the United States Coast Guard LORAN station in the southern part of the state. The range is Nevada's southernmost named mountain range, and lies to the northwest of the town of Laughlin and west of Lake Mohave. The Newberry Mountains connect with the Eldorado Mountains and The Highland Mountains. The highest point in the range is Spirit Mountain at 5,642 feet (1,720 m). Native Americans held the range to be sacred. The range includes Spirit Mountain which is a Native American Traditional Cultural Property and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Ancient Native American petroglyphs abound in Grapevine Canyon, located just south of Spirit Mountain in the Newberry Mountain range. Located within the Lake Mead National Recreation Area just west of the 67-mile-long Lake Mohave, Grapevine Canyon offers visitors the opportunity to see numerous abstract, anthropomorphic, and animal depictions pecked directly into the basalt rock near the mount of the canyon. A parking area with restrooms is provided and a about a half-mile walk through desert scrub is required to see the petroglyphs. Ranger-guided hikes are offered by National Park Service staff based at Katherine Landing, located on the east side of Lake Mohave 2 miles north of Bullhead City, Arizona, and accessed via Arizona Highway 95 and Highway 68. The area is in the homeland of the Yuman people. Yuman and Mojave people believe all life began on this mountain, which is visible for miles from Bullhead City in Arizona, Needles in California, and Laughlin, Cal-Nev-Ari, and Searchlight in Nevada. Descendants of the first Native Americans to reside in the area still live on the Fort Mojave Indian Reservation, located about 20 miles south of the Spirit Mountains Wilderness.

The station operates during the day only and signs off at local sunset to protect clear channel station KNWN in Seattle, Washington.

Homestake Mine is located in the Newberry Mountains near Searchlight, Nevada. It is listed on the United States National Register of Historic Places for activities between 1850 and 1924. Gold and silver were mined.

Laughlin River Run was an annual motorcycle rally held in Laughlin, Nevada. It was the largest gathering of bikes and bikers in the Western United States. The event drew an estimated 70,000 motorcycle enthusiasts in 2005.

Laughlin is an unincorporated resort town and census-designated place in Clark County, Nevada, United States. Laughlin lies 90 miles (140 km) south of Las Vegas, in the far southern tip of Nevada, and is known for its gaming and water recreation. It is located on the Colorado River, downstream from the Davis Dam and Lake Mohave, and directly across from the much larger Bullhead City, Arizona. As of the 2020 census, the population was 8,658. The nearby communities of Bullhead City, Arizona; Needles, California; Fort Mohave, Arizona; and Mohave Valley, Arizona, bring the area's total population to about 100,000. Laughlin is also 286 miles (460 km) northeast of Los Angeles.Laughlin was named for Don Laughlin, an Owatonna, Minnesota, native who purchased the southern tip of Nevada in 1964 (informally called South Pointe). At the time, Don Laughlin operated the 101 Club in Las Vegas. He opened what would become the Riverside Resort, and later wanted to call the community Riverside or Casino, but the post office opted for Laughlin instead.

Pyramid Canyon is the canyon on the Colorado River where Davis Dam was built on the state line between Nevada and Arizona. The canyon is located on the Colorado River, between Cottonwood Valley on the north and the Mohave Valley to the south. To the west of the canyon are the Newberry Mountains, and to the east are the Black Mountains of Arizona. Originally a deep canyon between the two ranges containing the free flowing Colorado River, Pyramid Canyon is now filled by the lower reach of Lake Mohave a reservoir formed by Davis Dam.

Davis Dam is a dam on the Colorado River about 70 miles (110 km) downstream from Hoover Dam. It stretches across the border between Arizona and Nevada. Originally called Bullhead Dam, Davis Dam was renamed after Arthur Powell Davis, who was the director of the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation from 1914 to 1923. The United States Bureau of Reclamation owns and operates the dam, which was completed in 1951.Davis Dam impounds the Colorado River and forms Lake Mohave.

Polhamus Landing, or Welton & Grounds Landing, was a steamboat landing in Mohave County, Arizona, United States during 1881 and 1882.
