Kongeparken

Svalbard Ekspressen is a Svalbard-themed roller coaster located at Kongeparken, Ålgård, Norway. The coaster's background story tells of a polar bear (Sam) who runs away from the coal mines in Svalbard to come to the park. It is a family roller coaster manufactured by Vekoma.

Old Ålgård Church (Norwegian: Ålgård gamle kirke) is a historic parish church of the Church of Norway in Gjesdal Municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Ålgård. It used to be the main church for the Ålgård parish which is part of the Jæren prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Stavanger. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design and an art nouveau style in 1917 using designs by the architect Ole Stein. The church seats about 250 people.

Ålgård Church (Norwegian: Ålgård kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Gjesdal Municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Ålgård. It is the main church for the Ålgård parish which is part of the Jæren prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Stavanger. The white, concrete church was built in a fan-shaped style in 2015 using designs by the architects René de Groot og Erik Thesen from the firm, Link Arkitektur. The church seats about 500 people.The church was built in 2015 to replace the Old Ålgård Church (located next door) which was then too small for the congregation. The church was consecrated on 15 March 2015 by the Bishop Erling Johan Pettersen. The 1,800 square metres (19,000 sq ft) church was built at a cost of 54.5 million kr.On the upper floor is the sanctuary, vestry, two larger meeting rooms, and a smaller room. There is room for 430 people in the sanctuary, but the large doors in the back can be opened up to the entry hall and adjoining rooms, giving the church a maximum capacity of 600. A 12.5-metre (41 ft) high altarpiece designed by Tor Lindrupsen stands at the front of the church. On the lower floor is the 180-square-metre (1,900 sq ft) kitchen, dining hall, church offices, seminar rooms, utility rooms, and closets.

Ålgård (historic: Aalgaard) is the administrative centre of Gjesdal municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The village is located along the European route E39 highway, about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) southeast of the city of Sandnes in the Jæren district of the county. The village includes the neighborhoods of Ålgård, Bærland, Fiskebekk, Opstad and Solås. The large lake Edlandsvatnet lies on the south side of the village, emptying into the river Figgjoelva which runs northwest to Sandnes.Ålgård is mostly known for the Kongeparken amusement park, an old wool mill, and a local football team (Ålgård F.K.) playing in the Norwegian Second Division. The Old Ålgård Church (built in 1917) and the new Ålgård Church (built in 2015) are both located in the village. There is significant industries in Ålgård, primarily the wood, textile, and clothing industries.

Figgjo is a borough of the city of Sandnes in the west part of the large municipality of Sandnes in Rogaland county, Norway. The borough is located in the southern part of the city. It has a population (2016) of 2,213. The borough is mostly rural, but the village of Figgjo lies in the southern edge of the municipality. About 90% of the population of the borough lives in the village of Figgjo.Although it is part of the city of Sandnes, Statistics Norway considers Figgjo to be a separate urban area (this urban area is not the same as the borough, just one part of it). In recent years, however, Figgjo has grown together with the large village of Ålgård, located immediately to the south in the neighboring municipality of Gjesdal. In 2016, Statistics Norway recorded the Ålgård-Figgjo urban area as having a combined population of 10,956. Figgjo's urban area alone has a population of 2,018.Figgjo is known for the Figgjo factories. Previously the village had a train station on the now closed Ålgård Line.

Flassavatnet is a lake in Rogaland county, Norway. The lake lies on the border of the municipalities of Gjesdal and Sandnes. The 0.9243-square-kilometre (0.3569 sq mi) lake sits about 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) north of the large village of Ålgård, not far north of the lakes Edlandsvatnet and Limavatnet. The lake is a reservoir with a small dam on the southern edge of the lake. The water level is kept at about 177 metres (581 ft) above sea level. The reservoir holds about 900,000 cubic metres (730 acre⋅ft; 1,200,000 cu yd).

Edlandsvatnet is a lake in the municipality of Gjesdal in Rogaland county, Norway. The 2.11-square-kilometre (0.81 sq mi) lake lies just south of the large village of Ålgård, immediately southwest of the lake Limavatnet. The European route E39 highway runs along the northern shore of the lake. The lake empties into the river Figgjoelva on the northwestern end of the lake. The lake has many brown trout in it.

Sviland Chapel (Norwegian: Sviland kapell) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in the large Sandnes municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Sviland in the rural borough of Sviland on the eastern edge of the city of Sandnes which is in the western part of the municipality. It is one of the two churches for the Høyland parish which is part of the Sandnes prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Stavanger. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1913 using designs by the architect Michale Slettebø. The church seats about 140 people.

Sviland is a borough in the southwestern part of the municipality of Sandnes in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the rural part of the municipality, southeast of the city of Sandnes. With a population (2020) of only 1,332, the borough is one of the least populous of all the boroughs in Sandnes. On the other hand, Sviland borough is 68.6 square kilometres (26.5 sq mi), making it the second largest borough by area. Sviland Chapel is located in the borough. The borough is home of the legendary Norwegian race horse Rex Rodney, winner of the 1986 Elitloppet.

The Ålgård Line (Norwegian: Ålgårdbanen) is a closed, but not abandoned, railway line between Ganddal and Ålgård in Rogaland, Norway. The 12.24-kilometer (7.61 mi) line was built as a narrow gauge branch line of the Jæren Line by the Norwegian State Railways (NSB) and opened in 1924. It runs through the villages of Foss-Eikeland and Figgjo in Sandnes to Ålgård in Gjesdal. Several proposals were made for the Ålgård Line to become the first part of the main line from Stavanger to Oslo, but instead the Sørlandet Line was connected to the Jæren Line in 1944. At the same time, the Ålgård Line was upgraded to standard gauge. The line had up to ten daily round trips with diesel multiple units, until passenger traffic was terminated in 1955. Freight traffic remained until 1988, when most of the line was abandoned in 1988, although 3 kilometers (2 mi) was used until 2001. The line is owned by the Norwegian National Rail Administration. The station at Figgjo has been converted to a museum, and the 3-kilometer (2 mi) section from there to Ålgård is used for recreational draisines. There have been proposals to reopen the line either as part of the Jæren Commuter Rail or the planned light rail for Greater Stavanger.

Limavatnet is a lake in the municipality of Gjesdal in Rogaland county, Norway. The 1.73 km2 (0.67 sq mi) lake lies between the villages of Ålgård and Gjesdal. On the western end of the lake, the European route E39 highway crosses the lake on the Vaula Bridge. The lake Edlandsvatnet lies immediately to the west of the bridge. The hydronym Lima, belonging to the lake, adjacent settlements, and associated surname, is, according to Oddvar Nes, likely derived from the Indo-European root "lei-", which means "wet, calm water".

Vatneleiren is a military base located in the municipality of Sandnes in Rogaland county, Norway. It was constructed just east of the Hanafjellet mountain just outside the city of Sandnes by the German Army during World War II, and has been used by the Norwegian Army since 1945. After the Cold War ended the number of soldiers stationed there gradually decreased, and the base is now mainly used by the Norwegian Home Guard. The Agder og Rogaland Heimevernsdistrikt 08 (Agder and Rogaland Home District 08) is based here, covering the two southernmost counties of Rogaland and Agder. The United Nations Logistics Officers Centre maintains a training centre in Vatneleiren, offering a logistics course.
