Madrid–Barajas Airport

The Madrid runway disaster was on 7 December 1983 when Iberia Boeing 727 collided with Aviaco McDonnell Douglas DC-9 on the ground at Madrid–Barajas Airport. A departing Iberia Boeing 727 struck an Aviaco McDonnell Douglas DC-9, causing the deaths of 93 passengers and crew.

Aeropuerto T1-T2-T3 is a station on Line 8 of the Madrid Metro next to terminal T2 of Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport, in the Madrid district of the same name. It is located in fare Zone A.The station opened to the public on 14 June 1999 under the name Aeropuerto. The line was opened by the King and Queen of Spain along with the chairman of the Community of Madrid. Construction of the expansion of line 8 were funded by the European Union Cohesion Fund. On 3 May 2007 the station was renamed Aeropuerto T1, T2, T3, after the Terminal 4 extension opened.

Casco Histórico de Barajas is an administrative neighborhood (barrio) of Madrid belonging to the district of Barajas. It has an area of 0.609202 km2 (0.235214 sq mi). As of 1 February 2020, it has a population of 7,735.

El Capricho is a station on Line 5 of the Madrid Metro. It is located in fare Zone A.The station is named after the Parque de El Capricho. There is a pedestrian route from the station to these gardens which were created by the Duchess of Osuna.

Aeropuerto T4 is a station on Line 8 of Madrid Metro and Lines C-1 and C-10 of Cercanías Madrid on the lower level of the new terminal T4 of Madrid-Barajas Airport. The metro station was opened on 3 May 2007 and the commuter rail station was opened on 22 September 2011; and presents the particularity of requiring the payment of a special supplement of €1 for users of single ticket or Metrobus, the same way it happens in the station Airport T1-T2-T3. It is located in fare Zone A.The Cercanías Madrid station runs in parallel to the Metro and can be seen from one platform to the other. The station was built along with the civil works of the airport terminal and a train station.

On December 30, 2006, a van bomb exploded in the Terminal 4 parking area at the Madrid–Barajas Airport in Spain, killing two and injuring 52. On January 9, 2007, the Basque nationalist and separatist organisation ETA claimed responsibility for the attack. The attack, one of the most powerful carried out by ETA, damaged the airport terminal and destroyed the entire parking structure. The bombing ended a nine-month ceasefire declared by the armed organisation and prompted the government to halt plans for negotiations with the organisation. Despite the attack, ETA claimed that the ceasefire was still in place and regretted the death of civilians. The organisation eventually announced the end of the ceasefire in June 2007. Ordered and planned by then head of commandos Miguel Garikoitz Aspiazu Rubina alias Txeroki, the attack was carried out by the "commando Elurra", whose members were arrested in early 2008 and sentenced for the attack in May 2010. Txeroki was arrested in November 2008 and was condemned to prison in 2011.

El Capricho is a park in Madrid. The name capricho means "folly" in Spanish. It was created by María Josefa Pimentel, Duchess of Osuna (1752-1834) on her estate at Alameda de Osuna, which was then outside the city of Madrid. It is landscaped in eighteenth-century style with formal and naturalistic features. It is recognised as one of the most beautiful parks in the city.The landscape design shows some English influence. Characteristically of continental gardens in the English style, there are a number of "eye-catchers" such as a hermit's house and a temple to Bacchus. Other features include a lake and a maze.
