Thean Kong Thnuah Temple or Jade Emperor God Temple (also known as Thni Kong Tnua, Chinese: 天公壇) is a Chinese temple located at the foot of Penang Hill in Air Itam, Penang. Completed in 1869, it is the only temple in Malaysia built specifically for the worship of the Jade Emperor (Hokkien: Thinn-kong) and becomes a focal point for the annual Jade Emperor's Birthday celebrations on the 9th day of Chinese New Year.The temple was featured in Episode 8 of The Amazing Race 16.

Hill Railway Station Road is a road within the suburb of Air Itam near George Town in Penang, Malaysia. Designated as Route P210, it leads to the Penang Hill Lower Railway Station at the foot of Penang Hill.

Penang Hill is a hill resort comprising a group of peaks near the center of Penang Island, Malaysia. It is located within the Air Itam suburb, 9 km (5.6 mi) west of the center of George Town. Penang Hill is also known by the Malay name Bukit Bendera, which actually refers to Flagstaff Hill, the most developed peak. One of the peaks is known as Strawberry Hill, which was also the name of a house owned by Francis Light, founder of Penang colony. A number of hills are covered by Penang Hill, with the highest point being Western Hill that stands at an altitude of 833 meters (2,733 feet) above sea level. Penang Hill is a hilly and forested area that stands out from the lowlands of Malaysia by being hilly and wooded. The area was used as a retreat during the British colonial period, and is now a very popular tourist destination due to its history and heritage. The top of Flagstaff Hill, the most developed tourist area, is accessible via the Penang Hill Railway from its base station at Hill Railway Station Road. To date, this funicular railway system is the only one of its kind in Malaysia, transporting over a million visitors to the top of Penang Hill as of 2014.Penang Hill is part of Penang Hill Biosphere Reserve, recognized by UNESCO as the third Biosphere Reserve in Malaysia listed in the World Network of Biosphere Reserves (WNBR).

The Ayer Itam War Memorial Park is a war memorial in George Town within the Malaysian state of Penang. Located at the suburb of Ayer Itam, the memorial commemorates the local Chinese who lost their lives during the Second Sino-Japanese War and the subsequent Japanese occupation of Malaya. The memorial was unveiled in 1951, with additional upgrades completed in 2011.

Ayer Itam Road is a major thoroughfare within the city of George Town in the Malaysian state of Penang. It is one of the main roads leading out of the city centre towards the suburb of Ayer Itam.

Kek Lok Si Charitable Hospital is a non-profit hospital in George Town within the Malaysian state of Penang. Established in 2021, the 50-bed hospital at Ayer Itam is the first Buddhist hospital in the state and is run by the nearby Kek Lok Si Temple. The hospital provides services including internal medicine, orthopaedics, otorhinolaryngology, radiology, anesthesiology, nephrology, medical diagnostics, general surgery and hemodialysis. First proposed as a "charitable hospital" for lower-income groups, the medical centre has maintained a policy against medical tourism, in contrast to other healthcare establishments in Penang. Plans for its construction had been submitted to the Penang Island City Council in 2014. Upon its opening, the hospital was also equipped with six hemodialysis machines and two operation theatres. As an extension of the existing non-profit centre, a proposed 400-bed hospital at Paya Terubong was announced in 2023.

The Kek Lok Si Temple (Chinese: 極樂寺) is a Buddhist temple situated in Air Itam, Penang, Malaysia. It is the largest Buddhist temple in Malaysia, and is also an important pilgrimage centre for Buddhists from Hong Kong, the Philippines, Singapore and other countries in Southeast Asia. The entire complex of temples was built over a period from 1890 to 1930, an inspirational initiative of Beow Lean, the abbot. The main draw in the complex is the striking seven-storey Pagoda of the late Thai king Rama VI, which structure is known as the pagoda of Ten Thousand Buddhas with 10,000 alabaster and bronze statues of Buddha, and the 36.57-metre-tall (120 ft) bronze statue of Guanyin (Kuan Yin), the Goddess of Mercy. The 10.000 Buddhas concept belongs to the Chinese Mahāyāna school of Buddhism while Rama VI was king over a Theravāda country and Buddhist tradition. Mahayana Buddhism, Theravada Buddhism and traditional Chinese rituals blend into a harmonious whole, both in the temple architecture and artwork as well as in the daily activities of worshippers.

Rifle Range (Malay: Padang Tembak) is a residential neighbourhood within the city of George Town in Penang, Malaysia. Located within the Air Itam suburb, the neighbourhood lies 4.4 km (2.7 mi) west of the city centre and was completed in the 1970s. Formerly a shooting range used by the British Army, low-cost flats were constructed within the area to provide affordable housing for the urban poor.

Sunshine Central is a mixed-use complex within George Town in the Malaysian state of Penang. Situated at the suburb of Paya Terubong, the 3.64 ha (9.0-acre) 39-storey complex comprises a residential tower, an office block, a hotel and a nine-storey shopping mall forming the podium. Owned by local conglomerate Suiwah Corporation, Sunshine Central was opened to the public in 2024.

Chung Ling Private High School (simplified Chinese: 锺灵独立中学; traditional Chinese: 鍾靈獨立中學) is a Chinese independent high school in George Town, Penang, Malaysia. Its affiliated schools are Chung Ling High School and Chung Ling Butterworth High School. The school was established in 1962 to provide education for students who were ineligible to attend Malaysian public schools because they were considered overaged by the Malaysian Ministry of Education . It is one of the 60 Chinese Independent High Schools in Malaysia. Chung Ling Private High School provides secondary education in the Chinese language, with the medium of instruction being Mandarin using simplified Chinese characters. Chung Ling Private High School is the first secondary school in South-East Asia to fully adopt Cambridge English courses. It was awarded five stars in SKIPS (the Private Education Institution Quality Standard Certificate) by the Ministry of Education (Malaysia) in 2016, and is ranked as one of the top 5 private high schools in Malaysia.

Ayer Itam Dam is a dam in George Town within the Malaysian state of Penang. Located 7.6 km (4.7 mi) southwest of the city centre, the dam impounds the Ayer Itam River to the west of Ayer Itam. At the time of its opening in 1962, it was the largest dam in Malaya, with a capacity of 2.16 billion litres (480,000,000 imp gal; 570,000,000 US gal). The dam supplies water to nearby suburbs such as Ayer Itam and Paya Terubong.
