Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art

Gateshead College is a further education college in the town of Gateshead, England. Established on November 15, 1955 at Durham Road in Low Fell, Gateshead. It was opened by the Duke of Edinburgh. The original campus was closed as part of a planned move in January 2008. The college moved into a £39 million new main site located at the Baltic Quayside in Gateshead. Also opened during the move was the Academy for Sport based at Gateshead International Stadium and in Team Valley the Skills Academy for Automotive, Engineering, Manufacturing and Logistics. Also in Team Valley, the Skills Academy for Construction opened in summer 2008. More than £75million has been spent developing six campuses, for academic and vocational courses. Based in the North East of England, Gateshead College offers further education to 16- to 18-year-olds, higher education, apprenticeships, part-time adult learning and training for employers. The Baltic Campus, based on the Gateshead quayside, has a range of facilities including: Baltic Salon and Spa Gym and aerobics studio 200 seat performance theatre Learning Resource Centre Sound proofed music rehearsal and recording studios Refectory, bistro, training kitchens and restaurant Art and design studios ICT Suite Shop Japanese gardenGateshead College develops training and facilities to support the North East's bid to become a hub for sustainability. The College has also established a reputation for working in partnership with many organisations including the Chamber of Commerce, Nissan, sports teams including Gateshead Thunder and the Newcastle Vipers, and The Sage Gateshead and was chosen founder college for the National Skills Academy for Creative and Cultural Skills. The College administers the Government's Plugged in Places project, through its Charge Your Car project. Gateshead College also established Zero Carbon Futures in 2011, to deliver a range of local and national programmes designed to advance the region as a European leader in the production of low carbon vehicles.

The Sage is a forthcoming indoor arena and conference centre in Gateshead, United Kingdom due to open in phases between 2025 and 2027. The site is located between the existing Sage Gateshead venue and the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art on Gateshead Quayside.The arena is being built to replace the nearby 11,000 capacity Utilita Arena Newcastle that was originally opened in 1995.

South Shore Road power station was a coal-fired power station situated on the River Tyne at Gateshead, North East England. The station was built by the Durham Electrical Power Distribution Company in the early twentieth century. Ownership of the station was handed over to the Newcastle upon Tyne Electric Supply Company in June 1932 when they bought the Durham company. During the Second World War a warden post was situated at the power station. The site of the power station, near the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, has since been cleared, and an office development is being constructed on it.

The Newcastle town wall is a medieval defensive wall, and Scheduled Ancient Monument, in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. It was built during the 13th and 14th centuries, and helped protect the town from attack and occupation during times of conflict. It was approximately 3 kilometres (2 mi) long, at least 2 metres (6.5 ft) thick, up to 7.6 metres (25 ft) high, and had six main gates: Close Gate, West Gate, New Gate, Pilgrim Gate, Pandon Gate and Sand Gate. It also had seventeen towers, as well as several smaller turrets and postern gates. The town wall was kept in good repair whilst there was a threat of invasion from Scottish armies, and the town was successfully defended on at least two occasions; but with the decline of the border wars between England and Scotland, the wall was allowed to deteriorate. During the English Civil War, the Scots were able to breach the wall using mines and artillery. By the mid-18th century the wall had become obsolete and, as the town was redeveloped, large sections were demolished leaving only parts standing. The most substantial remains are the West Walls, on the western side of the city.

Oakwellgate railway station served the town of Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, England, from 1839 to 1844 by the Brandling Junction Railway.

Sage Gateshead is a concert venue and also a centre for musical education, located in Gateshead on the south bank of the River Tyne, in North East England. It opened in 2004 and is occupied by North Music Trust.The venue is part of the Gateshead Quays development, which also includes the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art and the Gateshead Millennium Bridge.

St Dominic's Church, formerly St Dominic's Priory Church, is a Roman Catholic Parish church in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. It was built from 1869 and opened in 1873. It was founded by the Dominican Order. It is located on New Bridge Street, east of Manors railway station, in the Ouseburn area of Newcastle. It was designed by Archibald Matthias Dunn and is a Grade II listed building.

Pandon Dene Power Station was an early coal-fired power station situated on the Pandon Dene, to the east of Newcastle upon Tyne.

Austin Friars, Newcastle-upon-Tyne was an Augustinian friary in Tyne and Wear, England. The friary is believed to have been founded by William Lord Ros, Baron of Wark on Tweed, about the year 1290, at a site in Cowgate. Around 1540, the friary was closed as part of the dissolution of the monasteries under Henry VIII, and in 1551, the land was granted to John Dudley, 1st Duke of Northumberland.By 1648, the land had passed to the city council, and a series of institutions built on the site, including hospitals, prisons and guild houses. In 1681 the Holy Jesus Hospital was built partly on the site. In the 1820s, the site was occupied by the Newcastle Gas Company, local hospitals, and the Barber Surgeon's Company, who had leased part of the land since 1648.

The Newcastle Law Courts is a Crown Court venue, which deals with criminal cases, as well as a magistrates' court venue, on the Quayside in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.

The Tyne Bridge Tower was a tower block that resided at the foot of the Tyne Bridge on the Gateshead side of the River Tyne, near the medieval St Mary's Church and The Sage. It was constructed in the 1960s. The 13 floor building was used by the Inland Revenue until June 2005, after which it stood empty until its demolition in March 2011. The demolition was funded by One North East, a regional development agency. Total cost was just over £500,000.

Amazing Radio is an international radio station first broadcast originally on digital radio in the United Kingdom. The station plays new music from a number of music genres including pop, rock, indie, hip hop, electronica and jazz. The station originally broadcast on the Digital One ensemble which replaced the temporary Birdsong test transmission which had been running for a year and a half beforehand. The station discontinued its DAB presence in 2012 to become an Internet-only radio station, but later returned to DAB in London and Dublin. The station subsequently decided it was not worth paying to be on DAB when so much radio listening is now online.The station takes its music from its sister website amazingtunes.com and encourages its listeners to have their say as to which songs should make the station's playlist.Artists to have been played extensively by the station since their earliest recordings include Bastille, Nine Lies, Tom Odell, Haim, The 1975, Chvrches and London Grammar. Since 2010, the station has broadcast a weekly chart on Sunday afternoons. The first chart-topper was 'Spider' by Tom And The Tides (an early recording by Tom Odell)
