Rat Rock is an outcrop of Manhattan schist between 600 and 604 West 114th Street in the Morningside Heights neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. The boulder measures approximately 30 feet (9.1 m) high and 100 feet (30 m) long; it is notable as one of the only remaining such rocks remaining in Manhattan's street grid. It was named Rat Rock for the large number of rats nesting in it, similar to the other Rat Rock in Central Park. The row houses around it were built in the 1890s, when land in Manhattan was significantly less valuable. Though the land on which it sits has greatly appreciated in value, Columbia University, which owns Rat Rock along with most of West 114th Street, has no plans to remove it, as it has been estimated that removing the rock could cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. The fence around it was placed by the university in order to prevent vandalism. Columbia professor Andrew Dolkart described it as "an extraordinary survivor" of New York City's development, because it "hints at the geology of the city", and The New York Times labelled it one of New York's "most amazing natural wonders".

Morris A. Schapiro Hall, popularly known as Schapiro, is an undergraduate residence hall of Columbia University. The building is named after investment banker Morris Schapiro, who oversaw the merger of Chase Bank and Bank of Manhattan as well as the Chemical Bank and New York Trust Company.It is located half a block from the university's main campus, near the intersection of Broadway and 115th Street in the Morningside Heights neighborhood of the borough of Manhattan in New York City. Upon its completion in 1988, at a cost of $18 million, Schapiro allowed the university to house all its undergraduates in dormitories for the first time. This policy is now promised to all current and incoming undergraduate students at Columbia and Barnard. The 17-story building is one of the newer residences at Columbia and contains 245 single and 85 double residences, music practice rooms, floor lounges, and two study spaces. The "Penthouse," the 17th floor, has a quiet study space for students and no residential rooms. The building was designed by the architectural firm Gruzen Samton Steinglass.

The Delta Psi, Alpha Chapter fraternity house is located at 434 Riverside Drive in the Morningside Heights neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. It was purpose built in 1898 and continues to serve the Columbia Chapter of the Fraternity of Delta Psi (aka St. Anthony Hall), a social and literary fraternity.The chapter house was designed by two prominent New York City architects, Henry Hornbostel and George Carnegie Palmer. At this time of its construction, it was "the best appointed and most costly [fraternity] building that has ever been erected in the United States".The Delta Psi, Alpha Chapter building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 26, 1996, for its architectural significance.

The West End Bar, also known for a time as the "West End Gate", was located on Broadway near 114th Street in Morningside Heights, Manhattan, New York City. From its establishment in 1911, the bar served as a common gathering place for Columbia University students, faculty and administration (its slogan was "Where Columbia Had Its First Beer"). The bar was also a meeting place for many Beat Generation writers as well as many 1960s student activists when they attended the university.

Brooks and Hewitt Halls are historic dormitory buildings located on the campus of Barnard College in Morningside Heights, New York, New York. Brooks Hall was designed by Charles A. Rich (1854–1943) and built in 1906–1907. It is a seven and one half story, red Harvard brick building on a granite foundation with limestone and terra cotta trim. It features a sloping Spanish tile roof with hip-roof dormer windows. Hewitt Hall, named for Abram S. Hewitt, was designed by McKim, Mead & White and built in 1926–1927. It is a seven-story, red Harvard brick building with a sloping copper clad roof.They were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

The Colosseum is an apartment building located at 116th Street and Riverside Drive in Morningside Heights, Manhattan, New York City. The building is noted for its curved facade, unusual among New York City buildings, and impressive marble lobby. Across 116th Street, The Colosseum faces The Paterno, another building with a similar curved facade. The New York Times has said that the "opposing curves, (form) a gateway as impressive as any publicly built arch or plaza in New York." The unusual curved facades are the result of an 1897 plan to make the land between Claremont Avenue and Riverside Drive into a public park in order to give veterans' parades a large park adjacent to Grant's Tomb as a terminus. The street was redesigned to enter the proposed park in a gracious curve, but the city never appropriated funds to buy the land.The Colosseum was designed by Schwartz & Gross and built by the Paterno Brothers, Charles and Joseph, in 1909-1910. The luxury four-bedroom apartments with sweeping views of the Hudson River rented for $150 to $175 a month.Harlan Fiske Stone and Lajos "Louis" Jambor lived in the Colosseum when it was a private building. The Colosseum was later acquired by Columbia University. Among the distinguished members of the Columbia faculty who have lived here are David Weiss Halivni and Edward Said.

Hogan Hall is a dormitory of Columbia University primarily reserved for fourth-year undergraduate students. The dorm is popular for its suite configurations as well as its central location. Built in 1898 as a nursing home, the building was converted to graduate student housing in 1977. It was named after Frank S. Hogan. It was converted into an undergraduate residence in 1994, then renovated in 2000 with the completion of a new entrance connecting it to Broadway Hall, designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects. Located at the corner of 114th Street and Broadway in the Manhattan neighborhood of Morningside Heights, the building is named for former New York District Attorney Frank Hogan.

The building is noted for its curved facade, impressive marble lobby with a stained-glass ceiling, and substantial porte-cochère. Across 116th Street, The Paterno faces the Colosseum, another building with a similar curved facade. The New York Times has said that the "opposing curves, (form) a gateway as impressive as any publicly built arch or plaza in New York.The Paterno and Colosseum were both developed by Charles V. Paterno and designed by the architectural firm of Schwartz & Gross.The Paterno has been featured in the films Enchanted and Enemies, a Love Story.

Bank Street College of Education is a private school and graduate school in New York City. It consists of a graduate-only teacher training college and an independent nursery-through-8th-grade school. In 2020 the graduate school had about 65 full-time teaching staff and approximately 850 students, of which 87% were female.

Tom's Restaurant is a diner located at 2880 Broadway (on the corner of West 112th Street) in the Morningside Heights neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City. It is on the ground floor of Columbia University's Armstrong Hall, home to the Goddard Institute for Space Studies. Frequented by Columbia students and faculty, it was founded by Tom Glikas in the 1940s and after a sale at some undetermined point has been owned and operated by the Greek-American family of Minas Zoulis, who retained the original name.Senator John McCain often ate at Tom's when he visited his daughter Meghan when she was a student at Columbia. Likewise, Barack Obama frequented the restaurant as a student at Columbia.
