Edmonton Convention Centre

Canada Place is a glass-and-steel office building in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Currently, it houses the main federal government offices for Edmonton and much of Western Canada. Located in downtown Edmonton, it was built by the Government of Canada and features a distinctive pink colour and stepped shape, a design intended to resemble the shape of the maple leaf on the Canadian flag. It neighbors the Edmonton Convention Centre and overlooks the North Saskatchewan River valley. The building was opened in 1988 as a replacement for the Federal Public Building, which had been the main federal offices since 1958. Construction lasted from November, 1985 until the summer of 1988, and was worked on by WZMH Group Architects. The building consists of two stepped office blocks, ranging from 15 to 13 storeys in height, connected by an atrium. The original design of the building had an additional, taller, third office block at the rear; however, this plan was scaled back to two blocks, due to concerns that demand for new office space in downtown Edmonton at the time was not high enough to justify the larger building. The pavilion was engineered to accommodate the third tower in the future, should it be desired. In 2006, the federal government commissioned BMO Capital Markets and RBC Capital Markets to study whether continued Crown ownership of Canada Place and other federal properties was cost-effective. The firms concluded it was more prudent for the Crown to sell and leaseback the building to a private developer, along with eight other Crown-owned properties across Canada. All nine buildings were sold in 2007 to Larco Investments Ltd., a Vancouver, BC-based company, and leased for 25 years.The building is linked to the Edmonton Convention Centre and the Citadel Theatre via the Edmonton Pedway. There is a food court open to the public in the lower level of the building, as well as underground parking.

Alldritt Tower is an approved 80 storey mixed use skyscraper in Edmonton, Alberta. It could be the tallest building in Western Canada and one of the tallest buildings in the country.

The Ukrainian Canadian Archives & Museum Of Alberta (UCAMA) is a Ukrainian museum located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Recently the museum bought the old Lodge Hotel and the Brighton Block located at 9670 Jasper Avenue. The goal is to develop in order to create a facility which will house exhibition galleries, an archive and library resource area, collection storage areas, educational, meeting and special programming areas. The museum's vision states a number of aspects where growth is expected: creating an opportunity for exploring Ukrainian heritage, enriching the collection of the museum with respect of acquisition policies, transferring the collection to a more up-to-date building and expanding not only the permanent, but also the traveling collection of artifacts that the museum possesses.

The Citadel Theatre is the major venue for theatre arts in the city of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, located in the city's downtown core on Churchill Square. It is the third largest regional theatre in Canada.

The Francis Winspear Centre for Music is a performing arts centre located in the downtown core of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Opened in 1997, it is the home of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. The centre is named after Francis G. Winspear, who donated $6 million ($9.6 million today) to the construction of the facility - the single largest private donation to a performing arts facility in Canadian history.

The Low Level Bridge is a bridge that spans the North Saskatchewan River in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Completed in 1900, this was the first bridge across the North Saskatchewan River. It was designed to carry a railway, and a railway track was added in 1902 to accommodate the Edmonton, Yukon and Pacific Railway (amalgamated with the Canadian Northern Railway in 1905).Streetcars used the bridge (on a gauntlet track) from 1908 to 1939. Trolley buses used the bridge from the removal of the streetcar track in 1939 until 1965.Originally known simply as the Edmonton Bridge or the Inter-Urban Bridge (connecting the towns of Strathcona and Edmonton), the bridge became known as the Low Level Bridge some time after the completion of the High Level Bridge. In 1948 a twin span of the same design was added upstream of the original span. The new span was originally used for vehicle traffic in both directions, with the original span being reserved for railway use. When the railway track was removed from the original span in 1954, that bridge was widened and then used for two lanes of west-bound traffic. The 1948 bridge has carried all east-bound traffic since the widening of the original span.The Low Level Bridge connects the communities of Cloverdale on the south end to Rossdale/Downtown on the north end.

The Fairmont Hotel Macdonald, formerly and commonly known as the Hotel Macdonald (colloquially known as The Mac), is a large historic luxury hotel in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Located along 100 Street NW, south of Jasper Avenue, the hotel is situated in the eastern end of downtown Edmonton, and overlooks the North Saskatchewan River. The 47.7-metre-high (156 ft) hotel building was designed by Ross and MacFarlene and contains eleven floors. The hotel is named for the first prime minister of Canada, Sir John A. Macdonald. The Grand Trunk Pacific Railway Company opened the hotel on 5 July 1915. Built as an early-20th century railway hotel, the Châteauesque-styled building is considered one of Canada's grand railway hotels. Following Grand Trunk's 1919 bankruptcy, Canadian National Hotels assumed management of the hotel. The building has undergone several renovations since its opening, and an expansion wing to the hotel building was added in 1953. In 1983, Canadian National Hotels ceased operations, and demolished the building's expansion wing in the same year. The hotel property was later sold to Canadian Pacific Hotels in 1988, and was restored and reopened to the public in May 1991. The hotel is currently managed by Fairmont Hotels and Resorts.

Quarters stop is a tram stop under construction in the Edmonton Light Rail Transit network in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It will serve the Valley Line, and is located on the south side 102 Avenue, west of 96 Street, in Boyle Street. The stop is scheduled to open in 2022.

The Edmonton International Street Performers Festival (sometimes known as StreetFest) is an annual, 10-day performance festival that takes place in mid-July at Sir Winston Churchill Square, in the city of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The festival was founded in 1985 by Sheldon Wilner and Dick Finkel with the intention of bringing the art of street performance to Edmonton’s downtown region. Every year, the festival brings in performers from around the world, and gives an opportunity for local performers to showcase their talent. In 2014, the festival featured roughly 1500 performances, and was attended by 250,000 people.Over the years, StreetFest has hosted a wide variety of performers, such as famous high-wire artist Phillip Petite, Cirque du Soleil clown Michael Hancock, and a variety of other clowns, acrobats, jugglers and magicians. The festival is somewhat unique in that the majority of the income that the artists receive for their work during the festival comes not from the festival organizers, but from the goodwill of the audience. Hats are passed around after each performance, and audience members are encouraged, but not required, to tip the performer for their work.In addition to traditional outdoor shows, the festival is also known for its encouragement of artistic collaboration. The "Troupe de Jour" program brings select artists together every night during the festival for an original variety show that combines the unique talents of the performers involved. "Late Night Madness" is a festival-wide night of collaboration where individual artists are invited to work together to come up with their own show. "Be Your Own Busker" is an educational series aimed at teaching both children and adults some of the basics of street performance, like juggling and making balloon animals.No festival was held in 2020.

The Edmonton Public Library (EPL) is a publicly funded library system in the city of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, available for use by any member of the public. Library cards are free to all Edmontonians; as part of its centennial in 2013, the Edmonton Public Library eliminated membership fees. University of Alberta and MacEwan University students receive free access through the L-Pass program.In 2014, more than 14.1 million visits were made to the Edmonton Public Library, either in physical or virtual form. 10.4 million items were borrowed, and 347,995 people participated in 13,532 library-run programs.

The Stanley A. Milner Library is the flagship branch of the Edmonton Public Library. It is located on the southern side of Sir Winston Churchill Square in the downtown core of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The main library is near walking distance to the City Hall, the Edmonton City Centre mall, the Francis Winspear Centre for Music, and the Citadel Theatre. In January 2017, the library closed its doors for a major renovation, as all but the basic structure was removed to be rebuilt with an architectural design similar to that of the Art Gallery of Alberta located a few blocks away. Its services were relocated to a temporary space on Jasper Avenue in Enterprise Square. The new Stanley A. Milner Library, along with the new Shelley Milner Children's Library opened on September 17, 2020. The building is directly connected to the underground pedway network and to Edmonton's LRT. A number of ETS bus routes also serve the library along Harbin Road (102 Avenue) and 100 Street. Underground parking, run by the city, is also available.The Stanley A. Milner Library is also a centre for assistive services. Specialized magnifiers, projection reading rooms, large print books, braille material, voice dictation stations, and specialized computers are available as part of the library's mission to provide information access to all.

Churchill station is an Edmonton Light Rail Transit station in Edmonton, Alberta. It serves both the Capital Line and the Metro Line. It is an underground station located beneath Churchill Square and is a part of the Edmonton Pedway system. An at-grade surface platform is currently under construction above the existing station at Rue Hull (99 Street) and 102 Avenue, and is scheduled to open in 2022. The new platform will facilitate transfers between the Metro and Capital lines below grade, and the Valley Line and Festival Line at the surface level. By 2040 Churchill LRT Station is expected to be one of the major hubs of the Edmonton LRT system, with four out of the five lines currently approved by the City passing through the station.
