Dubina is a small unincorporated community in Fayette County, Texas, United States. It currently is home to a population of approximately 44 persons, but it was once a thriving community. Dubina was the first Czech settlement in Texas and dates from 1856. It is located 90 miles west of Houston and 104 miles east of San Antonio. Most of the town since 2003 has been designated as the Dubina Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places.The naming of this settlement as Dubina ("oak grove") goes back to one of the first nights spent by the settlers. As the story goes, the settlers were travelling, looking for a suitable place to settle down when it started raining. They sat down under a very large oak tree for shelter and looked around, realizing how comfortable this place was. They then settled there, giving it what they considered the appropriate name. After the Civil War, Dubina became a toehold for recently arrived Czech immigrants. The nearby town of Hackberry was for German settlers. Dubina has some historical buildings, the most famous of which is one of Texas' painted churches, Saints Cyril and Methodius.

It is an example of immigrants bringing building styles to their new homes. The house is built in the style of a Ukrainian Izba. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 14, 1975 and designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark.

Nativity of Mary, Blessed Virgin Catholic Church is a historic church located at 2833 Farm to Market Road 2672 in High Hill, Texas. The church, which was built in 1906, was designed by prominent Texas church architect Leo M.J. Dielmann. Dielmann designed the red brick church in the Gothic Revival style. The interior of the church was painted by Ferdinand Stockert and Hermann Kern in 1912. The pair painted designs on canvas and affixed them to the church walls, resulting in decorations which resemble wallpaper. The designs were drawn freehand and include symbols such as angels, crosses with crowns, Stars of David, and bunches of grapes. The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Borden, Texas

After the war ended, Gail Borden returned to Texas, and at what would become Borden, built houses for himself, his brother, and his sons. He renamed the settlement Bordenville. The Galveston, Harrisburg and San Antonio Railway opened its line through the Borden area in 1872.In 2000, Borden had 60 residents.
