Hampton, Virginia

The Air Power Park is an outdoor, roadside museum in Hampton, Virginia which recognizes Hampton's role in America's early space exploration and aircraft testing. The outdoor park is open year-round, seven days a week from sunrise to sunset. Several vintage aircraft and experimental space launch vehicles from the 1950s and 1960s are displayed out of doors. The park is on a 15 acres (6.1 ha) plot and includes a children's playground. The indoor museum at the center of the park was reopened after a 2011 renovation (with hours more limited than the outdoor part of the park). There are eight themed rooms containing over 325 models of aircraft, space craft, and nautical vessels representing all the U.S. branches of service as well as various model craft from other nations. Joseph S. Darling Memorial Stadium, located in Hampton, Virginia, serves primarily as a high school football stadium, and also hosts various track-and-field meets, as well as marching band competitions. The 8,000-seat brick facility opened in 1989. In 1928, the Darling Estate donated land on Hampton's Victoria Road, exclusively for the use of athletic facilities. The original stadium lasted until 1987, two years before the current stadium opened. The city's four high schools -Bethel, Hampton, Kecoughtan, and Phoebus- each use Darling Stadium for their home football games.

The Hampton National Guard Armory is a history military facility at 504 North King Street in Hampton, Virginia. A large brick building with Moderne styling, it was built in 1936 with funding support from the New Deal-era Works Progress Administration, and is one of the few surviving armories built in the inter-war period in coastal Virginia. It originally housed Battery D of the 111th Field Artillery, and was used as a community meeting space for dances and other social events.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.

Scott House, also known as The Magnolia House, is a historic home located at Hampton, Virginia. It was built in 1889, and is a two-story, five-bay, stuccoed wood-frame Queen Anne style dwelling. It has a steeply pitched cross-gable roof and features cornice dentils, a bracketed cornice, elaborate gable ornamentation, an art glass transom over the raised panel double door, and 14 fluted Doric order columns that support a wrap-around porch.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.

St. John's is an Episcopal church located in Hampton, Virginia, United States, within the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia. Established in 1610, St. John's is the oldest English-speaking parish in continuous existence in the United States of America.

Hampton City Hall is a historic city hall located at Hampton, Virginia. It was built in 1938–1939, and is a two-story, concrete building clad in brick veneer and topped with a flat roof surrounded by a parapet in the Art Deco style. In 1962, the building was expanded and converted for use as a Juvenile Courts and Probation Office. The entrance façade is marked by stylized fluted columns flanking the double-leaf replacement entrance doors and glass block window. There is a stylized Art Deco motif panel surrounding the City of Hampton seal above the double-leaf doors and decorative transom. Funding for the building's construction was provided by the Public Works Administration (PWA).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.The current City Hall is located on Lincoln Street and opened in 1976.

Hampton Downtown Historic District is a national historic district located at Hampton, Virginia. The district encompasses 25 contributing buildings and 7 contributing sites in the central business district of Hampton. The district includes a variety of commercial, residential, institutional, and governmental buildings dating from the late-19th to mid-20th century. There are notable examples of the Beaux-Arts, Art Deco, and Gothic Revival styles. Notable buildings include First United Methodist Church (1887, 1931), the Sclater Building (1871), St. Tammany's Masonic Lodge (1888), Hampton Baptist Church (1883), Old Hampton Station Post Office (1914), and the circuit courthouse (1876). Located in the district and separately listed are St. John's Episcopal Church (1728) and the former Hampton City Hall (1939).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

Buckroe Beach Carousel, also known as Philadelphia Toboggan Company Number Fifty and the Hampton Carousel, is a historic carousel operated by the Hampton History Museum in Hampton, Virginia. It was built by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company and installed at Buckroe Beach in 1920. It measures 45 feet in diameter and the platform consists of 18 sections. It has 42 oil paintings; 30 mirrors; a 1914 Bruder band organ that plays 66 key B.A.B. rolls, 48 hand-carved wooden horses placed three abreast; and two upholstered, hand-carved wooden chariots. It was disassembled in 1985 when the Buckroe Beach Amusement Park closed. It was restored between 1988 and 1991 by R&F Designs of Bristol, CT, and was installed that year in its present location in Carousel Park, 602 Settlers Landing Road, across from the Virginia Air and Space Center.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

Pasture Point Historic District is a national historic district located at Hampton, Virginia. The district encompasses 110 contributing buildings in a streetcar suburb of Hampton platted in 1885. The residences include notable examples of the Late Victorian, Prairie School, and Bungalow styles. The district was largely developed by 1919, with some later infill dwellings.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.

Historic Little England (previously known as the Victoria Boulevard Historic District) is a national historic district located at Hampton, Virginia. The district encompasses 87 contributing buildings in a streetcar suburb originally laid out in 1888. The primarily residential district includes notable examples of the Queen Anne and Colonial Revival styles. Notable dwellings include the house of developer Frank Darling (c. 1895), Reed House (c. 1902), and the James Darling II residence (1927).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Hampton Coliseum is a multi-purpose arena in Hampton, Virginia. Construction began on May 24, 1968. The venue held its first event on December 1, 1969, with the nearby College of William & Mary playing North Carolina State University in a college men's basketball game. On January 31, 1970, the Coliseum formally opened as the first large multi-purpose arena in the Hampton Roads region and the state of Virginia (opening a year before the Norfolk Scope in Norfolk.) With a final estimated cost between $8.5 million to $9 million, the arena was designed by Odell Associates and constructed by McDevitt and Street, of Charlotte, North Carolina. The venue capacity is configurable from 9,800 to 13,800 seats.

Nekocon is an annual three-day anime convention held traditionally on the first weekend in November at the Hampton Roads Convention Center in Hampton, Virginia. It is Virginia's oldest anime convention. The convention's name comes from the Japanese word neko, meaning "cat".
