Shrewsbury railway station is in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. Built in 1848, it was designated a grade II listed building in 1969. The station is 43 miles (69 km) north west of Birmingham New Street. Many services starting at or passing through the station are bound for Wales, and it is a key hub for its operator, Transport for Wales. Services are also provided by Avanti West Coast and West Midlands Railway.

Shrewsbury Castle is a red sandstone castle in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. It stands on a hill in the neck of the meander of the River Severn on which the town originally developed. The castle, directly above Shrewsbury railway station, is a Grade I listed building.

Shrewsbury Library is housed in a Grade I listed building situated on Castle Gates near Shrewsbury Castle. The site was the home of Shrewsbury School from 1550 until 1882. The buildings were handed over to the town in 1882 and a free library and museum were opened by the Corporation of Shrewsbury utilizing the building in 1885. The library was moved temporarily to Raven Meadows in 1976 while the site on Castle Gates underwent extensive restorations. The library was re-opened in 1983 by Princess Margaret.Above the main entrance are two statues bearing the inscriptions "Philomathes" and "Polumathes". These represent students, one coming to learn and the other a learned scholar on leaving. The inscription below is from Isocrates and reads "If you are a lover of learning, you will become learned".

Shropshire Archives is located in Shrewsbury, England, and is the archives and local studies service for the historic county of Shropshire, which includes the borough of Telford and Wrekin. It preserves and makes accessible documents, books, maps, photographs, plans and drawings relating to Shropshire and its people dating from the early 12th to the 21st century. Shropshire Archives is funded by Shropshire Council and Telford and Wrekin Borough Council and is supported by an active friends organisation - the Friends of Shropshire Archives. The service has attracted external funding from bodies such as the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Arts Council.

HM Prison Shrewsbury was a Category B/C men's prison in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. It was decommissioned in March 2013, and is now open to the public. The Victorian prison as seen today sits on top of the original Georgian prison, the remains of which are still accessible underneath the current buildings. The former prison site, on Howard Street, adjacent to Shrewsbury railway station, is near the site of the Dana Gaol, a medieval prison. The name The Dana is still often used for the prison, as well as being the name of the road to one side of the prison and the pedestrian route that runs from near the front of the prison into the town centre via a footbridge over the station. Shrewsbury Prison is now open to the public as an interactive tourism destination, The Campbell Group runs guided tours, ghost tours and various activities throughout the 4 acre-site. The prison will continue to operate as a tourism destination and there are now no plans for re-development.

The Bagley Brook is a small watercourse that flows into the River Severn at Shrewsbury in Shropshire, England. Its course has been severely altered by urban development in the area, such that the brook is now little known or seen. However its name is used for an official area name - Bagley - which is an electoral division of the county council and a ward of the town council. The brook follows to some extent the old course of the River Severn which was cut off from the course of the Severn at the last glaciation period. When the River Severn floods in a severe way, such as in November 2000, the area around the Bagley Brook also floods (about 20 hectares (49 acres)).In present times, the watercourse starts roughly where the Ellesmere Road (the A528) crosses the old course of the Severn, and runs through the marshy area at first in a southeasterly direction, then a southerly direction. This area has been designated as an SSSI under the name Old River Bed, Shrewsbury.It then runs through a cutting to the east of the Shrewsbury–Crewe railway line, eventually passing between a new housing development ("Ellesmere Grange") and a coal yard. It then enters a long underground culvert. The water discharges into the Severn at Chester Street, where the Gateway public building is, between Coton Hill and the town centre. Historically there was a bridge to carry the road over the brook, but the watercourse now flows through a culvert from the north of the Shrewsbury–Chester railway line straight into the river and cannot now be seen at Chester Street.

Bagley is an area of Shrewsbury, county town of Shropshire. It is part urban, part rural and extends out from the town centre in a northwest direction. Though not clearly defined, it is often regarded as including Coton Hill, Greenfields and Gravelhill. The Shropshire Agricultural Showground is located between Coton Hill and Gravelhill. Bagley is a Shropshire Council electoral division, which until 2009 included Coton Hill and the town centre of Shrewsbury. It now covers a smaller area, though includes the northern half of the Mount Pleasant housing estate. The same area covered by the electoral division also forms the town council ward of Bagley. It is named after the Bagley Brook which flows through the area and into the River Severn at Chester Street. Parts of the area are prone to flooding. On a small estate in the area named Herongate the positioning of the old river can be seen. As of 2009 a new housing development ("Ellesmere Grange") is taking place on former railway land off Ellesmere Road. In future further housing development is expected to take place in the Bagley area, on both brownfield and greenfield land.

Shrewsbury bus station is a bus station and terminus located on Raven Meadows in the centre of Shrewsbury, the county town of Shropshire, England. Local and inter-city services, predominantly operated by Arriva Midlands North, run from the station. Additional services are operated by Lakeside Coaches, Tanat Valley, Celtic Travel and Minsterley Motors.The station is connected to the Darwin Shopping Centre by an escalator and is adjacent to a Premier Inn hotel. Facilities include toilets, baby changing, a car park, anewsagent shop and a travel agent. It is also located 0.1 mi from Shrewsbury railway station.The station is considered to be dated due to its 1980s architecture partially under a 1960s multi-storey car park. There have been plans for the station to be modernised and rebuilt, or even demolished completely, as part of the town's "Big Town Plan". The demolition of the station would mean the town would not have a central bus terminus and would instead use smaller sites on the town's Park and Ride routes.

The Shrewsbury Hoard (also known as the Shropshire Hoard) is a hoard of 9,315 bronze Roman coins discovered by a metal detectorist in a field near Shrewsbury, Shropshire in August 2009. The coins were found in a large pottery storage jar that was buried in about AD 335.

The Darwin Shopping Centre is the main shopping centre in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England, comprising approximately 17 per cent of the town centre's retail offer by leasable area.It was built by John Laing Developments in 1989 and refurbished in 2002. It was in 2010 due to undergo further refurbishment in a plan being devised by Chapman Taylor Architects as part of the New Riverside redevelopment.

St Mary's Church is a redundant Anglican church in St Mary's Place, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust, the Trust designated St Mary's as its first Conservation Church in 2015. It is the largest church in Shrewsbury. Clifton-Taylor includes the church in his list of 'best' English parish churches.

The Parade Shops, formerly the Royal Salop Infirmary, is a specialist shopping centre at St Mary's Place in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. It is a Grade II listed building.
