Newmarket—Aurora

Newmarket—Aurora is a provincial electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that has been represented in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario since 2007. The district contains the towns of Newmarket and Aurora. The riding was created for the 2004 federal election by merging 50% of the riding of York North with 24% of the riding of Vaughan—King—Aurora. According to the 2006 census, 121,924 people are represented in the Ontario Legislature in this riding. The major industry in the riding is manufacturing, and auto parts maker Magna International is the largest manufacturer. Average family income in the riding is higher than the national average at slightly over $97,000 a year. Unemployment in the riding is lower than the national average at 3.6%.

Mulock GO Station is a planned GO Transit train station to be built by Metrolinx in Newmarket, Ontario as a part of the approved GO Expansion program. It will be built on Mulock Drive, between Yonge Street and Bayview Avenue. The station is to have approximately 550 parking spaces. A kiss and ride and a bus loop will also be provided at the station. Metrolinx expects the daily ridership at the station to be 3,891 in 2031.The station was originally proposed in 2015, as part of a larger list of potential future station sites. On June 24, 2016, Minister of Transportation Steven Del Duca announced that three new stations on the Barrie line corridor would be added as part of the RER plan: Kirby station in Vaughan, Mulock station in Newmarket, and Innisfil station in Innisfil. Metrolinx later approved the plan for the new stations on June 28, 2016.The Town of Newmarket also plans to create the Mulock Station Area Secondary Plan, a plan to provide development to the area around the future station. The Secondary Plan will provide places of residence, places of work, convenient connections to transportation, social services, and parks and outdoor areas in an approximate 79 hectares (195 acres) of area around the station site, with an estimated cost of C$240,000.

Pickering College is an independent, co-educational school for children in grades from Junior Kindergarten through grade 12. It is located in Newmarket, Ontario in Canada on a 17-hectare (42 acre) property on Bayview Avenue. The school accepts both day students and boarders (Grade 7 through Grade 12 only). Pickering College is the second oldest independent school in Ontario, behind Upper Canada College (UCC). However, Pickering's main building, Rogers House (built 1909), is older than UCC's current main building, which was condemned and rebuilt in 1960. Pickering College is also the site of the Quaker Archives and Library of Canada which are housed in the Arthur Garratt Dorland Reference Library.

CHOP-FM is a high school radio station that operates at 102.7 FM in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. Owned by Pickering College, the station began broadcasting on September 28, 2007, after it was given approval by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) on February 1, 2007. The station was modelled after another high school radio station in the province called CKVI-FM located in Kingston, Ontario. On November 12, 2021, the CRTC issued a call for comments on market capacity to serve Newmarket, Ontario and call for applications to serve Newmarket. The station also submitted an application to increase CHOP-FM's effective radiated power (ERP) from 5 watts LP to 100 watts class A1.

St. Maximillian Kolbe Catholic High School is a high school in Aurora, Ontario, Canada. The school opened in September 2009, and is administered by the York Catholic District School Board. St. Maximilian Kolbe CHS's patron saint is Saint Maximilian Kolbe, a Franciscan priest from Poland that was incarcerated and executed at the Auschwitz concentration camp as a political prisoner during World War II.When the school opened in September 2009, there were less than 800 students in grades 9 and 10. In the 2010/2011 school year, St. Max had students in grades 9, 10, and 11. By the following school year, the school was teaching curriculum for grades 9 to 12 and graduated its first senior class in June 2012. The following June, St. Max graduated its first class of students that attended the institution from grades 9 to 12. The school crest, logo, colour scheme, and mascot were chosen and during the 2008/2009 school year, before the school's completion.

Newmarket High School is a secondary school located in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. It is one of four high schools in Newmarket under the jurisdiction of the York Region District School Board and currently educates approximately 1400 students from Grades 9 to 12. The phoenix and the Viking are the school's symbols and the school's colours are purple and gold.

Old Newmarket Town Hall and Courthouse is a historic structure in Newmarket, Ontario and served as town hall, county offices and courthouse.

Aurora GO Station is a railway station and bus station in the GO Transit network located on Wellington Street East between Yonge Street and Bayview Avenue in Aurora, Ontario, Canada. It is a stop on the Barrie line train service, and connects with York Region Transit local bus routes, and the GO Express Bus between Newmarket Bus Terminal and Union Station Bus Terminal.

Newmarket (2021 population 87,942) is a town and regional seat of the Regional Municipality of York in the Canadian province of Ontario. It is part of Greater Toronto in the Golden Horseshoe region of Southern Ontario. The name stems from the fact that the settlement was a "New Market", in contrast to York as the Old Market. The town was formed as one of many farming communities in the area, but also developed an industrial centre on the Northern Railway of Canada's mainline, which was built in 1853 through what would become the downtown area. It also became a thriving market town with the arrival of the Metropolitan Street Railway in 1899. Over time, the town developed into a primarily residential area, and the expansion of Ontario Highway 400 to the west and the construction of Ontario Highway 404 to the east increasingly turned it into a bedroom town since the 1980s. The province's Official Plan includes growth in the business services and knowledge industries, as well as in the administrative, manufacturing and retail sectors. Landmarks include Upper Canada Mall, Southlake Regional Health Centre, the Main Street Heritage Conservation District, and Wesley Brooks Conservation Area (locally called "Fairy Lake Park" or "Fairy Lake").

The Elman W. Campbell Museum is a museum in Newmarket, Ontario. Beginning with the first Quaker settlers in the early 1800s, the museum covers the history of Newmarket and the surrounding area, with a focus on local artifacts and their significance. It has several permanent exhibits, as well as space for temporary exhibits. Also available are community group programs for elementary school students and groups such as Scouts Canada.The museum is located at 134 Main Street South and is wheelchair accessible.

Bogarttown is a community located at Mulock Drive and Leslie Street between Bayview Avenue and Woodbine Avenue in York Region, Ontario, Canada. Formerly a distinct rural hamlet, it is now a part of the Town of Newmarket, Ontario both administratively (since 1970) and more recently geographically owing to sprawling suburban development. The name is occasionally seen misspelled as Bogartown. In 1805 John Bogart built a sawmill at the corner of what is now Mulock and Leslie. In following years a grist mill (1806) and woollen mill (1808) were added and a small community grew up around them. Bogart Pond is still there, though now surrounded by homes and condominiums, and the former community of Bogarttown has now all but been swallowed up by the rapid expansion of Newmarket. The "Bogarttown Curve" was a locally known highway curve on the northeast corner of Mulock Drive and Leslie Street - the ambition of many local teenagers was to see what speed they could achieve around this curve. It was immortalized in song in 1995 by Andrew Walker in the song Bogarttown Curve performed by The Mummble Ducks. The Bogarttown curve and a corresponding curve at the intersection of Vivian Road and Woodbine Avenue (the "Pleasantville Curve") were installed to improve traffic flow in the 1960s, but removed as the intersections were upgraded again in the late 1990s and the traffic load on Woodbine Avenue fell dramatically when the 404 reached Mulock drive. The Bogarttown curve was for sale for development in 2005. The Bogarttown schoolhouse (built in 1857 and believed to be the oldest brick schoolhouse in the province) became the original site of the Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum in 1971, but was moved to the community of Vandorf, Ontario after expropriation in 1978 for the construction of Highway 404. The actual Highway 404 extension was not completed until 1989 and now passes directly over the school's former location. Bogarttown never grew into a large town, most likely because it was bypassed by the railway in the 1850s, unlike Newmarket. Nearby Bogart Public School was named in honour of John Bogart and this pioneer community.

Sir William Mulock Secondary School is a secondary school located at 705 Columbus Way, off Mulock Drive in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. It is one of four high schools in Newmarket under the jurisdiction of the York Region District School Board (a fifth school, Sacred Heart Catholic High School, is under the York Catholic District School Board) and currently educates students from Grades 9 to 12. It opened in December 2001. Prior to that, most of its students went to Newmarket High School. The founding students have demonstrated the initiative of character traits by creating original 'character feathers' which can be found in the main hall. The Newmarket Citizens' Band conducts rehearsals at Sir William Mulock Secondary School.
