The Rockaway Beach Hotel, also known as the Hotel Imperial, was a very large hotel built in Rockaway, Queens, New York City during the late 1870s and early 1880s by the Rockaway Improvement Company. The hotel, promoted as the "biggest hotel in the world", ran along the Rockaway beachfront from the present-day Beach 110th Street to Beach 116th Street, thus locating it in the contemporary Rockaway Park neighborhood rather than Rockaway Beach as the name implies. The hotel, the product of an age of superlatives which also produced the Brooklyn Bridge, was 1184 feet (360.9m) long and 250 feet (76.2m) wide. Construction of the hotel was beset by labor difficulties and lack of capital; a railroad station opened in front of the hotel on August 26, 1880, but, except for one wing which was pressed into service for the summer of 1881, the hotel, although construction was completed, never actually opened for business. It was torn down for its lumber in 1889. The name "Rockaway Beach Hotel" has been used for at least two smaller hotels since the original's demolition.

The Rockaway Park–Beach 116th Street station is the western terminal station on the IND Rockaway Line of the New York City Subway, located on Beach 116th Street near Rockaway Beach Boulevard in Rockaway Beach, Queens. It is served by the Rockaway Park Shuttle at all times and ten daily rush-hour A trains in the peak direction.

Curley's Atlas Hotel and Baths was a long-standing institution in Queens, New York City. The hotel was founded in 1876 by John J. Curley on the beachfront at present-day Beach 102nd Street, in the neighborhood now known as Rockaway Beach or "Irishtown". The hotel was moved to its larger longer-lasting site at Beach 116th Street (then known as Fifth Avenue) in 1900. Curley's remained extremely popular well past World War II, and was mentioned in a comedy routine by George Carlin as the place where he was conceived.The hotel was destroyed by fire on March 31, 1968. After the fire, the lot remained empty for forty years.

The Beach 105th Street station (signed as Beach 105th Street–Seaside station) is a station on the IND Rockaway Line of the New York City Subway, located at Beach 105th Street on the Rockaway Freeway in Queens. It is served by the Rockaway Park Shuttle at all times and ten daily rush-hour only A trains. It is the least-used station out of all 424 stations in the New York City Subway system, serving 88,439 passengers in 2019, an average of fewer than 250 people per day.

Tribute Park is a 0.83-acre (0.34 ha) public green space in the Rockaway Park neighborhood of Queens, New York City. It is located at the corner of Beach Channel Drive and Beach 116th Street, facing Jamaica Bay.At the time of the September 11 attacks, the park site was an undeveloped lot that provided an unobstructed view of the collapse of the World Trade Center. Following the attacks, local residents used this waterfront lot as a place to gather and remember the victims. The Rockaway Chamber of Commerce and the Tribute Park Committee lobbied the city to designate this space as a park with a memorial. The garden section of the park was designed by Lynden Miller, and its pavilion by artist Patrick Clark. The park features a mosaic centerpiece pointing directly at Downtown Manhattan, a central path containing custom-inscribed memorial bricks designated as the "Fireman's Walk," the pavilion with a stained-glass dome, and a granite rock carved in the shape of a fireman's helmet engraved with the names of all 343 firefighters killed on September 11. The park was dedicated by Mayor Michael Bloomberg on November 6, 2005.

Seaside is a section of the Rockaway Peninsula in the New York City borough of Queens. It is bordered by the Rockaway Beach neighborhood on the east, and by the neighborhood of Rockaway Park on the west. Formerly a resort community of small seasonal bungalows, Seaside is today dominated by middle-income high-rise Mitchell-Lama apartment buildings along its south shore beachfront. The zip code of Seaside is 11694. The main roads through Seaside are Rockaway Beach Boulevard, Rockaway Freeway, and the never-finished Shore Front Parkway. The southern end of the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge can be found between Seaside and Rockaway Park. Seaside contains New York City Subway stations on the IND Rockaway Line (A and ​S trains) at Beach 105th and Beach 98th Streets.

Rockaway Park is a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens. The area is on the Rockaway Peninsula, nestled between Jamaica Bay to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the south. The neighborhood of Rockaway Beach lies on its eastern border while the community of Belle Harbor is situated on its western side. The neighborhood is part of Queens Community Board 14.

Scholars' Academy is a uniformed preparatory school consisting of a middle school (grades 6-8) and a high school (grades 9-12) for gifted and talented children located in Rockaway Park, in the New York City borough of Queens. Scholars' Academy grew out of a pilot program and established a middle school in 2004 and added a 9th grade in 2007. It draws 51% of its students from the Rockaway Peninsula and is known for its diversity.

Beach Channel High School (BCHS) (also known as High School 410 or H.S. 410), was a high school in the public school system of New York City, located at 100-00 Beach Channel Drive in Rockaway Park in the borough of Queens. The school opened in 1973 and, as of 2006, had an enrollment of 2,175 students. The school was built on the edge of Jamaica Bay and has a private dock. It offered a College Now program, which allows students to get college credit through programs at Rikers Island, Kingsborough Community College and Southampton College (part of Stony Brook University), while LaGuardia Community College offers classes for reading skills improvement. A separate special education school was located in one wing of the campus. In November 2009, the New York City Department of Education announced that the school may be closed in 2010 as a low-performing school. Beach Channel High School graduated its last class in 2014. The building now houses several small schools.

Rockaway Beach Boulevard, opened in 1886, was the first major east-west thoroughfare on the Rockaway Peninsula in the Borough of Queens in New York City. Much of its route parallels the Rockaway Freeway and the IND Rockaway Line above the Freeway. The boulevard first forks off at its eastern end from Beach Channel Drive at Beach 35th Street in Edgemere and merges once again with Beach Channel Drive by Jacob Riis Park shortly before the Marine Parkway–Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge. Rather curiously, the Boulevard runs north of the Freeway from its eastern end, while Edgemere Avenue runs exactly south of the Freeway, until Beach 56th Street in Arverne, where the northern flank becomes Arverne Boulevard and Edgemere Avenue abruptly turns into Rockaway Beach Boulevard for the remainder of its run. While the Boulevard served as the heart of a bustling business and entertainment district in the heart of the Rockaway Beach neighborhood, which included numerous hotels and amusement attractions, including the famous Rockaways' Playland, it was found that its original width could barely cope with the expanding traffic in its heyday. Much of the area in Arverne served by Rockaway Beach Boulevard was leveled through abortive urban renewal efforts in the 1960s.

Rockaways' Playland was an amusement park that operated from 1902 to 1987 in Rockaway Beach in Queens, New York City. Bounded by Beach 97th and Beach 98th Streets between Rockaway Beach Boulevard and the Rockaway Beach and Boardwalk, Rockaways' Playland was created in 1902 by roller coaster designer LaMarcus Adna Thompson. By 1903 was a ferry dock not far from the park, making it more convenient to reach (from just about everywhere in New York City) than some of the competing amusement parks. It was sold in 1927 to Robert Katlin who added amenities such as a gym and swimming pool, and the following year to A. Joseph Geist who achieved greater success than the previous owners. Between 1928 and 1970, Rockaways' Playland was extremely successful, drawing 175 million visitors. It closed in 1987 due to a sharp increase in the price of insurance.
