Durham County (area 376,397 acres (1,523 km2)) is an historic county in Ontario, Canada. It was named for the English County Durham and city of Durham. It was created in 1792 but was later merged Northumberland County to form the United Counties of Northumberland and Durham. In 1974, the two counties were split and reorganized, with the former portions of Durham County reorganized into the Regional Municipality of Durham.

The Fleetwood Kames is a 939 hectare provincially significant Earth Science Area of Natural and Scientific Interest in Ontario, Canada. The topographical feature is located on the north slope of the Oak Ridges Moraine, in the city of Kawartha Lakes. Part of the parcel, known as Fleetwood Creek, is owned by the Ontario Heritage Foundation.Formed in the Late Wisconsinan period, it consists of a till plain and drumlins from the Port Bruce Stadial, and kettles, eskers and kames from the Port Huron Stadial. To the north, it is adjacent to the Omemee Esker. The drumlin, part of the Peterborough Drumlin Field, is a rarity on the Oak Ridges Moraine.

The Township of Manvers (area 69,923 acres (283 km2)) was a municipality in the former Victoria County, now the city of Kawartha Lakes, in the Canadian province of Ontario.

The Molson Diamond Indy was an annual USAC Championship Car race. It was held in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada. It was held from 1967 to 1968 and again from 1977 to 1978. In 1967, the first ever Indy race held in Canada was the Telegram Trophy 200, held at Mosport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario as part of the USAC Championship Car season. The race was won by Bobby Unser for his first career Indy victory. Following Dan Gurney’s victory in 1968, a group led by John Bassett and Imperial Tobacco made the first proposal to run both the 1969 Telegram Trophy Indy race and the Formula One Canadian Grand Prix at a new street circuit along Lake Shore Boulevard and through Exhibition Place with the start/finish line and pits to be located inside Exhibition Stadium. Bassett dropped the idea just as the bill was going through third reading before Toronto city council. After a nine-year absence, IndyCars returned to the Toronto area for the Molson Diamond Indy at Mosport Park won by A. J. Foyt in 1977 and Danny Ongais in 1978.

The Chevrolet Silverado 250 was a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race held at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (Mosport). It was first held in 2013, and served as the second round of the Truck Series playoffs from their introduction in 2016.

The Clarington 200 (formerly the Mosport 200) is a NASCAR Pinty's Series stock car race held twice annually at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada. In previous seasons, one race would take place on the facility's 3.957 km (2.459 mi) road course and one race taking place on the facility's now-closed 0.805 km (0.500 mi) oval speedway. It has been part of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series in every season since 2007. Previous editions of the race have belonged to the USAC Stock Car division, the ASA National Tour and the CASCAR Super Series.

The Chevrolet Grand Prix is an annual IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race held every July at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada. The race originated in 1975 and is currently a two hour and forty minute race in order to fit the event into a television-friendly package. Previous editions of the Grand Prix were part of the World Sportscar Championship, the American Le Mans Series and the IMSA GT Championship.

Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (formerly Mosport Park and Mosport International Raceway) is a multi-track motorsport venue located north of Bowmanville, in Ontario, Canada, approximately 75 kilometers (47 miles) east of Toronto. The facility features a 3.957 km (2.459 mi), 10-turn road course; a 2.9 km (1.8 mi) advance driver and race driver training facility with a 0.402 km (0.250 mi) skid pad (Driver Development Centre) and a 1.5 km (0.93 mi) kart track (Mosport Karting Centre Inc., previously "Mosport Kartways"). The name "Mosport", a portmanteau of Motor Sport, came from the enterprise formed to build the track.

Kirby is a rural hamlet located in the Municipality of Clarington in Durham Region in Ontario, Canada. On Highway 35/115, it is north of Orono, approximately a 45-minute drive east of Toronto. The community is named for Kirkby, North Yorkshire. The hamlet also features the Kirby United Church, although services are not held there anymore.

Bethany is an unincorporated village in the Canadian province of Ontario, within the single-tier municipality of Kawartha Lakes. Bethany is centred on Highway 7A. It is located a few kilometers west of Peterborough, the largest city in the area. It is a gateway community, since 2000 there has been significant real-estate development, mostly in the form of individual dwellings. To the north are downhill and cross-country ski areas, mostly accessible by paved county roads.

Orono/Hawkefield Aerodrome (TC LID: CHF4) is located 1.9 nautical miles (3.5 km; 2.2 mi) northwest of Orono, Ontario, Canada.

The United Counties of Northumberland and Durham was a historic county in the Canadian province of Ontario. The two counties were originally combined in the District of Newcastle formed in 1802, and continued as united counties from 1850 until January 1, 1974, when portions of Durham County were amalgamated with adjacent Ontario County to form the Regional Municipality of Durham. Manvers Township went to Victoria County and what is now Cavan-Monaghan went to Peterborough County. What is now Port Hope remained in the area which was continued as Northumberland County, while Durham County was dissolved.
