Svanholm

Skibby is a town with a population of 3,165 (1 January 2024), situated in Frederikssund Municipality, Region Hovedstaden on the northern part of the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in eastern Denmark. It was the municipal seat of the former Skibby Municipality (Danish, Skibby Kommune), until 1 January 2007.

Krabbesholm is a manor house and estate located on the Hornsherred peninsula, between Skibby and Sæby, Lejre Municipality, some 50 kilometres west of Copenhagen, Denmark. The manor was detached from Egholm by Oluf Rosenkrantz in 1783 but the two estates had the same owners until 1806. The Gothic Revival style main building, the first on the estate, was built for Lars Trolle in 18. The estate covers 488 hectares of land.

Hornsherred (Danish pronunciation: [ˈhoɐ̯ˀnsˌhɛɐ̯ð̩]) is a peninsula between Roskilde Fjord and Isefjord on the island of Zealand in eastern Denmark. It falls within the expanded Frederikssund municipality and includes Jægerspris and Skibby and before 1 January 2007 a part of Bramsnæs Municipality, now a part of Lejre Municipality. It is connected to Frederikssund by the Kronprins Frederik bridge which was built in 1935. The area is increasingly popular as a venue for tourists with facilities for walking, cycling and sailing.

Skuldelev is a town in the Frederikssund Municipality in North Zealand, Denmark. It is located 5km northeast of Skibby, 11km south of Jægerspris and 11km southwest of Frederikssund. As of 2023, it has a population of 861.

Sæby Church (Danish: Sæby Kirke) is located in the small village of Sæby on the Hornsherred peninsula, Lejre Municipality, some 50 km west of Copenhagen, Denmark. Originating in a Romanesgue church from the 13th century, later expanded with a Gothic tower, it owes its current appearance to a renovation undertaken by Jørgen Hansen Koch in 1824.

Jægerspris Castle (Danish: Jægerspris Slot), in Jægerspris on the Hornsherred peninsula west of Copenhagen, is a Danish manor house. It has belonged to the Danish monarchs for most of its history which dates back to the 13th century. In the 1850s it became a retreat for King Frederik VII and his morganatic wife Countess Danner, who sought refuge there to escape the controversy their marriage had caused among the establishment in Copenhagen. After the king's death, Countess Danner turned it into an asylum for women. Today the castle serves as a historic house museum and is also noted for its park.

Gerlev is a town in the Frederikssund Municipality in North Zealand, Denmark. It is located on Hornsherred, five kilometers south of Jægerspris and six kilometers southwest of Frederikssund. As of 2023, it has a population of 1,065.

Selsø (Selsø Slot) is a historic manor house located near Skibby, on the Hornsherred peninsula, Frederikssund Municipality, some 50 km (31 mi) west of Copenhagen, Denmark. The estate traces its history back to the 13th century. The current main building dates from 1576 but was renovated in the Baroque style in 1734. The estate has been owned by the Scheel-Plessen family since 1721 but the recently restored main building and its immediate surroundings have been ceded to a self-owning foundation. The building is now operated as a museum and is also used as a venue for concerts and other events. The knight's hall is decorated with paintings by Hendrick Krock. The main building, a gatehouse from 1734 and the east wing of the adjacent home farm (Avlsgården) were listed on the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1918.

Jægerspris is a town, with a population of 4,083 (1 January 2023), in eastern Denmark. It is situated in Region Hovedstaden, 6 km northwest of Frederikssund, on the northern part of the island of Zealand (Sjælland). The town was established ca. 1870 around Jægerspris Castle, which is surrounded by kilometres of hiking and biking trails in the Jægerspris forest. It was the municipal seat of the former Jægerspris Municipality (Danish, Kommune), until 1 January 2007.

Roskilde Fjord is the fjord north of Roskilde, Denmark. It is a long branch of the Isefjord.

The Skuldelev ships are five original Viking ships recovered from the waterway of Peberrenden at Skuldelev, c. 20 km (12 mi) north of Roskilde in Denmark. In 1962, the remains of the submerged ships were excavated in the course of four months. The recovered pieces constitute five types of Viking ships and have all been dated to the 11th century. They are thought to have been an early form of blockship, i.e. ships that were scuttled to block potential invasions from the sea. The numbering of the ships is slightly confusing as when the remains were unearthed, they were thought to comprise six ships, but after "Skuldelev 2" and "Skuldelev 4" were later discovered to be parts of one ship, it was decided not to renumber the other vessels.Together, the five Skuldelev ships provide a good source of information about the shipbuilding traditions of the late Viking Age and are now exhibited at the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde. The museum has built accurate reconstructions of all five of the original Skuldelev ships; some of them have also been reconstructed by other groups across the world.

Orø is a small island in Denmark located in the Isefjord within Holbæk Municipality. The island covers 14 km2 (3,500 acres) and has a population of 1,003 (as of 1 January 2023). There are four villages on Orø: Bybjerg, the largest village on the island with a population of 260 (1 January 2023), Brønde, Gamløse and Næsby. There is a ferry connection between Orø and Holbæk, and a cable ferry connects the island to Hammer Bakke (Hammer Hill) on the Hornsherred peninsula. It is a popular vacation area with some 1,200 summer houses.Orø Church dating back to the 12th century and Orø Museum, which depicts local life in the area, are both national monuments.
