Farlim, officially Bandar Baru Air Itam, is a residential neighbourhood within the city of George Town in Penang, Malaysia. Located within the Air Itam suburb, the neighbourhood lies 6 km (3.7 mi) southwest of the city centre and was created in the 1980s. Over the recent decades, Farlim has evolved into a booming township, with several residential and commercial developments.

Batu Lanchang is a suburb of George Town in Penang, Malaysia. It is located nearly 2.7 km (1.7 mi) southwest of the city centre, and sandwiched between Air Itam to the west and Jelutong to the east. Formerly an agricultural area, Batu Lanchang has turned into a suburban residential area, with a mix of high-rises and landed properties. Green Lane, in particular, has become an affluent neighbourhood, whilst also serving as a major thoroughfare through Batu Lanchang, linking George Town and Gelugor.

All Seasons Place is a shopping mall at Air Itam, a suburb of George Town in Penang, Malaysia. Opened in 2012, it is the first strip mall in Penang and forms part of All Seasons Park, a mixed residential-commercial development.The three-storey, open-air mall was designed by Cottee Parker Architects, a renowned Australian architectural firm. Most of the mall's retail outlets are arranged in a 500 m (1,600 ft) row facing the Thean Teik Highway with sidewalks stretching along the outlets and with ample of indoor and outdoor car park.

Kampung Buah Pala (nicknamed High Chaparral) was a small village in Penang, Malaysia inhabited mostly by Indians at Gelugor. The 200-year-old village was controversially demolished in 2009 under the government of Lim Guan Eng.

Taman Tun Sardon is a residential neighbourhood within the city of George Town in Penang, Malaysia. Located 5.7 km (3.5 mi) south of the city centre, this working-class neighbourhood, which neighbours Minden Heights to the south and consists of low-cost five storey flats, was created in the 1980s and forms part of the Gelugor suburb. In all, 22 housing blocks were constructed within the neighbourhood to cater to the needs of lower-income citizens.

Minden Heights is a residential neighbourhood within the city of George Town in Penang, Malaysia. Located 6.1 km (3.8 mi) south of the city centre, this upscale housing estate lies within the Gelugor suburb and neighbours Universiti Sains Malaysia to the south, as well as Taman Tun Sardon to the north.

Universiti Sains Malaysia (lit. 'Science University of Malaysia'; abbreviated as USM) is a public research university in Malaysia. Founded on 1 June 1969 as a statutory body with its own constitution, it is among the oldest institutes of higher learning in Northern Malaysia. It has three campuses: a main campus on the island of Penang, a health campus in Kelantan, and an engineering campus in Nibong Tebal. There is currently an overseas collaboration with KLE University, India offering the Doctor of Medicine (USM) undergraduate degree. USM plans to open a Global Campus (Kuala Lumpur Campus) in Kuala Lumpur Education City (KLCE).With around 28,300 postgraduate and undergraduate students in 2009, USM is one of the largest universities in terms of enrollment in Malaysia. The number of lecturers is about 1,479, which leads to a student-lecturer ratio of around 19:1. USM is the only Accelerated Programs for Excellence (APEX) government-funded autonomous university in Malaysia.

Sunshine Central is a mixed-use complex within George Town in the Malaysian state of Penang. Situated at the suburb of Paya Terubong, the 3.64 ha (9.0-acre) 39-storey complex comprises a residential tower, an office block, a hotel and a nine-storey shopping mall forming the podium. Owned by local conglomerate Suiwah Corporation, Sunshine Central was opened to the public in 2024.

Relau is a residential neighbourhood located 9.9 km (6.2 mi) southwest of the centre of George Town, the capital city of the Malaysian state of Penang.

The Kek Lok Si Temple (Chinese: 極樂寺) is a Buddhist temple situated in Air Itam, Penang, Malaysia. It is the largest Buddhist temple in Malaysia, and is also an important pilgrimage centre for Buddhists from Hong Kong, the Philippines, Singapore and other countries in Southeast Asia. The entire complex of temples was built over a period from 1890 to 1930, an inspirational initiative of Beow Lean, the abbot. The main draw in the complex is the striking seven-storey Pagoda of the late Thai king Rama VI, which structure is known as the pagoda of Ten Thousand Buddhas with 10,000 alabaster and bronze statues of Buddha, and the 36.57-metre-tall (120 ft) bronze statue of Guanyin (Kuan Yin), the Goddess of Mercy. The 10.000 Buddhas concept belongs to the Chinese Mahāyāna school of Buddhism while Rama VI was king over a Theravāda country and Buddhist tradition. Mahayana Buddhism, Theravada Buddhism and traditional Chinese rituals blend into a harmonious whole, both in the temple architecture and artwork as well as in the daily activities of worshippers.

Chung Hwa Confucian High School (or 孔圣庙中华中学 in Chinese) is a Chinese conforming (national-type) secondary school located in Green Lane, Penang, Malaysia. The school is one of 10 Chinese secondary schools in Penang and also has a good record of co-curriculum and public examination results. It is the only overseas Chinese school that had been sanctioned by the Qing dynasty government of China, which officially presented it with royal seals bearing the school's name through its consulate and local businessman Cheong Fatt Tze, who is also credited with being the founder of the school. Chung Hwa Confucian High School is known as the oldest Chinese school in Malaysia.

Ayer Itam Dam is a dam in George Town within the Malaysian state of Penang. Located 7.6 km (4.7 mi) southwest of the city centre, the dam impounds the Ayer Itam River to the west of Ayer Itam. At the time of its opening in 1962, it was the largest dam in Malaya, with a capacity of 2.16 billion litres (480,000,000 imp gal; 570,000,000 US gal). The dam supplies water to nearby suburbs such as Ayer Itam and Paya Terubong.
