Kastrup station

Kastrup (Danish pronunciation: [ˈkʰæˌstʁɔp]) is a suburb of Copenhagen, Denmark, on the east coast of Amager in Tårnby Municipality. It is the site of Copenhagen Airport. In Danish, the airport is often called Kastrup Lufthavn (Kastrup Airport) or Københavns Lufthavn, Kastrup (Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup).

Lufthavnen station (Danish pronunciation: [ˈlɔftˌhɑwˀn stæˈɕoˀn]; The Airport Station) is a rapid transit station of the Copenhagen Metro, located at Copenhagen Airport on the island of Amager. The station is the terminus of the M2 line and is located in fare zone 4. Trains approach the station by a bridge over the Øresund Motorway (E20). The platform area is constructed above the tracks of the Øresund Line adjoining a multi-storey car park. The station connects to the airport at the north end of Terminal 3 on level 2. Intercity trains operate out of the Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup Station which is located beneath the airport terminal building, around 200 metres (660 ft) from the Lufthavnen Station.

Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup Station (Danish: Københavns Lufthavn, Kastrup Station) is a railway station in Tårnby, Denmark, served by DSB’s regional trains including the Øresundtrain network. The nearby Lufthavnen metro station is served by the Copenhagen Metro’s line M2. The station opened on 27 September 1998, and was subsequently reconstructed and reopened on 28 September 2007, with a connection to the Copenhagen Metro opening the following month. The stations take their names from Copenhagen Airport, to which they are connected. It is linked to Ørestad station on the M1 line by DSB regional trains. It is located in fare zone 4. The airport’s railway station is the closest to the check-in and arrival area in Terminal 3. It is located below ground under Terminal 3. It is served by the following types of trains: Local trains between Copenhagen Central Station and Malmö Central Station. These trains also stop at Tårnby and Ørestad en route to Copenhagen, and at Hyllie and Triangeln en route to Malmö. To Copenhagen every 10 minutes, and to Malmö every 20 minutes. Regional trains on Zealand and southern Sweden. Connects to Klampenborg, Helsingør, Lund, Helsingborg, Landskrona and Hässleholm. Intercity trains to the rest of Denmark including Odense, Fredericia, Aarhus, Esbjerg and Aalborg. Intercity trains in southern Sweden connects to Gothenburg, Kalmar and Karlskrona (see Øresundståg). High-speed X 2000 trains to Stockholm.Temporarily from 4 January 2016 to 4 May 2017, Sweden required train and bus transport companies entering Sweden to perform full identity check of every passenger, because of the European migrant crisis. For that reason the Southern platform was used only for departures to Sweden, with border checks at openings in fence erected along the platform. All arrivals and all departures to Denmark used the Northern platform. Only the regional trains towards Helsingør and Sweden used Copenhagen Airport station, all other trains did not go here during this period. There is a decision to build platforms at the two tracks north of the existing station, so far used for freight trains.Lufthavnen (‘Airport’) metro station is located slightly further off than the railway station, at the far end of Terminal 3 on the level 2. The metro connects to Nørreport Station and Vanløse station.

Kastrup Strandpark is a waterfront park on the east coast of Amager in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is situated between the larger Amager Strandpark to the north and the National Aquarium Denmark and the Scanport development to the south. The park was established on reclaimed land in connection with the construction of the new Kastrup Marina. The project was designed by Friis & Moltke in collaboration with the landscape architect Erik Mygind.

Kastrupgård is a former manor house in Kastrup, a suburb of Copenhagen, Denmark. Dating from the mid 18th century, it is now a museum housing the Kastrupgård Collection (Kastrupgårdsamlingen) of modern art, which is owned and operated by Tårnby Municipality.

National Aquarium Denmark, Den Blå Planet (Danish: Den Blå Planet, Danmarks Akvarium) is a public aquarium in Denmark. The original aquarium was located in Charlottenlund, but this facility closed in 2012 and most of the animal collection was relocated to the new and much larger aquarium Den Blå Planet (lit.: The Blue Planet) in Kastrup, a suburb of Copenhagen. The National Aquarium Denmark, Den Blå Planet opened to the public in March 2013 and is the largest aquarium in Northern Europe. The main purpose of the aquarium is to disseminate marine information, help science projects, and help improve educational institutions.

Vilhelm Lauritzen's Terminal, constructed in 1939 to a Functionalist design by Vilhelm Lauritzen, was the first airport terminal constructed at Copenhagen Airport. The building is internationally recognised as a principal example of Danish modernist architecture. It was moved to its current location in 1999. It was listed on the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 2000. It is now used for receiving foreign heads of state and other VIPs arriving at the airport.

Femøren station is a rapid transit station on the Copenhagen Metro located in the Sundbyøster district of Copenhagen. It opened on 28 September 2007. The station serves the M2 line. It is located in fare zone 3.

Amager Strandpark (Amager Beach Park) is a seaside public park in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is located on the island of Amager and includes an artificial island and offers a total of 4.6 km (2.9 mi) of beaches. From the beach, the Middelgrunden wind farm can be seen on the horizon.The park was founded in 1934 and in 2005 a 2 km-long (1.2 mi) artificial island was added. The island is separated from the original beach by a lagoon which is crossed by three bridges. The beach has two sections. The northern section has a natural beach environment with winding paths, broad sandy beaches and low dunes. The southern section offers a so-called city beach with a broad promenade and areas for ball play or picnicking. There is also a small marina and parking facilities at the southern end. The lagoon has low-water areas for children as well as a 1,000 m (3,300 ft) swimming course.

Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup (Danish: Københavns Lufthavn, Kastrup, pronounced [kʰøpm̩ˈhɑwns ˈlɔftˌhɑwˀn ˈkʰæˌstʁɔp]; IATA: CPH, ICAO: EKCH) is an international airport serving Copenhagen, Denmark, Zealand, the Øresund Region, and southern Sweden including Scania. It is the second largest airport in the Nordic countries. As of 2019, the airport was the largest airport in the Nordic countries with close to 30.3 million passengers. It is one of the oldest international airports in Europe, the fourth-busiest airport in Northern Europe, and the busiest for international travel in Scandinavia.The airport is on the island of Amager, 8 kilometres (5 miles) south of Copenhagen city centre, and 24 km (15 mi) west of Malmö city centre, to which it is connected by the Øresund Bridge. The airport covers an area of 11.8 km2 (4.6 sq mi). Most of the airport is in the municipality of Tårnby, with a small part in the city of Dragør. The airport is the main hub out of three used by Scandinavian Airlines and is also an operating base for Sunclass Airlines and Norwegian Air Shuttle. Copenhagen Airport handles around 60 scheduled airlines, and has a maximum operation capability of 83 operations/hour, and a total of 108 jet bridges and remote parking stands. Unlike other Scandinavian airports, most of the airport's passengers are international. In 2015, 6.1% of passengers travelled to and from other Danish airports, 83.5% to/from other European airports, and 10.4% were intercontinental passengers. The airport is owned by Københavns Lufthavne, which also operates Roskilde Airport. The airport employs 1,700 people (not including employees in shops, restaurants, etc.).Copenhagen Airport was originally called Kastrup Airport, after the small town of Kastrup, now part of the Tårnby municipality. The formal name is still Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup, to distinguish it from Roskilde Airport.

On February 3, 1975, 197 people fell ill aboard a Japan Air Lines Boeing 747 en route from Anchorage, Alaska, to Copenhagen, Denmark, after consuming an in-flight meal contaminated with Staphylococci. One hundred and forty-four people needed hospitalization, making it the largest food poisoning incident aboard a commercial airliner.

The 1947 KLM Douglas DC-3 Copenhagen disaster was the crash of a KLM Royal Dutch Airlines flight from Amsterdam to Stockholm via Copenhagen on 26 January. It occurred shortly after the Douglas DC-3 took off from Kastrup Airport in Denmark. All 22 passengers and crew on board were killed.Among those killed in the crash were Prince Gustaf Adolf of Sweden (at the time of his death, second in line to the Swedish throne), U.S. opera singer Grace Moore, and Danish actress Gerda Neumann. Prince Gustaf Adolf was the father of the present king of Sweden Carl XVI Gustaf. Moore's body was first flown to Paris on another KLM aircraft, and then to Chattanooga, Tennessee, where she was buried in the Forest Hills Cemetery, during a ceremony attended by around eight thousand people.The probable cause of the crash was determined to be failure to remove the gust locks that had secured the aircraft's elevators while it was parked. It was the worst aviation disaster in Denmark at the time of the crash.
