River Road (community)

The River Road Moses Cemetery (also recorded as Moses African Cemetery, White's Tabernacle #39 Cemetery, Friendship Moses Cemetery, and Macedonia Baptist Cemetery) is a historic African-American burial ground in the Westbard area of Bethesda, Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. Established as the cemetery of a Black mutual-aid lodge of the Ancient United Order of the Sons and Daughters, Brothers and Sisters of Moses, and serving the River Road freedom colony, the cemetery holds an estimated 200 or more burials, including an African-American Civil War veteran; the site now lies beneath the asphalt parking lot of the Westwood Tower apartment complex. Since the mid-2010s the cemetery has been the focus of one of the most prominent African-American burial-ground preservation disputes in the United States, generating sustained protest, county-commissioned investigations, and litigation that reached the Supreme Court of Maryland, which held in 2024 that the site "was a historic Black burial place" in which human remains likely remain interred, and that Maryland's common law protects burial places.

WIHT (99.5 FM) is a Top 40 (CHR) formatted radio station that serves the greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Located on the fifth floor of 1801 Rockville Pike in Rockville, Maryland, the station broadcasts 24 hours a day and is licensed to, and owned by, iHeartMedia. The transmitter is located on River Road in Bethesda, Maryland.

WTTG (channel 5) is a television station in Washington, D.C., serving as the market's Fox network outlet. It is owned and operated by the network's Fox Television Stations division alongside MyNetworkTV station WDCA (channel 20). WTTG and WDCA share studios on Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda, Maryland. Through a channel sharing agreement, the stations transmit using WTTG's spectrum from a tower also located in Bethesda on River Road at the site of WDCA's former studio facilities. WTTG's signal is rebroadcast on a low-power digital translator station, W24ES-D, in Moorefield, West Virginia (which is owned by Valley TV Cooperative, Inc.).

WPXW-TV (channel 66) is a television station licensed to Manassas, Virginia, United States, broadcasting the Ion Television network to the Washington, D.C. area. The station is owned by Ion Media, and maintains business offices in Fairfax Station, Virginia; its transmitter is located on River Road in Bethesda, Maryland. WPXW-TV is one of two Ion outlets that serve the Baltimore market (alongside Towson-licensed Class A station WMJF-CD, channel 39). WWPX-TV (channel 60) in Martinsburg, West Virginia, operates as a full-time satellite of WPXW-TV.

Georgetown Bagelry is a bagel bakery in the Washington, D.C. area, founded in 1981. Its first location was on M street downtown, and it is now located in Bethesda, Maryland. For several years, it was voted by the Washington City Paper as having the best bagels in the area. The company specializes in New York-style bagels which are made by boiling dough.

Milton is a historic home located at Bethesda, Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. Also known as the Loughborough House, the building was constructed in two stages and is built of uncoursed granite. The older section, constructed prior to 1820, is one and one-half stories and a two-story three bay structure was subsequently built in 1847. Outbuildings on the property include a square, stone smokehouse with a square, hipped roof, and a 19th-century stone ice house. It was the home of Nathan Loughborough, Comptroller of the Treasury during the John Adams administration. From 1934 until the 1970s, the house was owned by the agricultural economist, Mordecai J. Ezekiel.Milton was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

Drummond is a village and special taxing district in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. The village was founded in 1903 and officially chartered in 1916. Approximately one-third mile long, the village consists of Drummond Avenue between Wisconsin Avenue and Little Falls Stream Valley Park.The population was 120 as of 1990. There are 43 homes in the village.The village is governed by a three-member Citizens' Committee.

The Salmon-Stohlman House, also known as Clover Crest, is a historic home located at Somerset, Montgomery County, Maryland. It is a 2+1⁄2-story, frame structure built about 1893, and designed in a transitional manner with late Victorian detailing. It was one of the first houses built in the present day Town of Somerset by Dr. Daniel Salmon, a leading veterinarian at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and one of the original developers of the suburban property.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.Victoria Clarke is a former resident of the Salmon-Stohlman House.

Somerset is an incorporated town in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States, located near its border with Washington, D.C. The population was 1,216 at the 2010 census. Somerset has no relationship to Somerset County, some 150 miles distant.

The Wiley-Ringland House is a historic home located at Somerset, Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. It is named for its original owner / builder Harvey Washington Wiley and longtime owner / resident, Arthur Cuming Ringland. The house is a 2+1⁄2-story Queen Anne-style frame building built about 1893. A fire in 1978 virtually destroyed the house, but it was restored between 2001 and 2002 by new owners.The Wiley-Ringland House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

WAVA is a religious talk radio formatted broadcast radio station licensed to Arlington, Virginia, serving the metro areas of Washington, D.C., and Baltimore, Maryland. WAVA is owned and operated by Salem Media Group. In its early history, the station sported pop, country and news/talk formats. As WARL, it was the first station to brand itself as playing "country western music". WAVA is a daytime-only station because 780 AM is a clear-channel frequency, on which WBBM in Chicago is the dominant Class A station.
