Amalgamated Housing Cooperative, originally the Amalgamated Cooperative Apartment House, is a pioneering American limited-equity cooperative apartment complex organized under the provisions of the Private Housing Finance (PVH) law, article IV (unlike the Mitchell-Lama housing under PVH, art. II) and originally built from 1927 to 1930 in The Bronx, New York City, New York.The Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America, headed by Sidney Hillman and prodded by Cooperative housing founder Abraham E. Kazan, funded and organized the construction of a community of affordable housing for the working class. It was designed by the architectural team that included Herman Jessor, the man who ultimately designed the bulk of the housing cooperatives that went up between 1930–1975. It was the first cooperative housing complex in the United States founded under the limited equity rules. The undertaking was such a success, that it spawned over 40,000 more units to crop up around New York City. Amalgamated Housing grew from original 300 to almost 1500 apartments by 2007. The newest tower building was completed in 1971.

Jerome Park is a municipal park in the West Bronx of New York City. The park, along with the surrounding neighborhood of the same name, are both on land that was once Jerome Park Racetrack, which was founded by Leonard W. Jerome, grandfather of Winston Churchill. The park occupies a long and narrow strip of land between Jerome Park Reservoir and Goulden avenue. Neighboring the park are two "Education Mile" institutions: The Bronx High School of Science, and DeWitt Clinton High School. Harris Park, another New York City Department of Parks and Recreation property, is another neighbor. The Jerome Park Reservoir and its surroundings (including the park) were further developed under the federal Works Progress Administration. The park opened on April 4, 1940.In June 2022, the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York (City) proposed relocating a public observatory to the park at the suggestion of The Bronx High School of Science. The proposed observatory was previously in use at Nassau Community College for more than 40 years. The 12-foot tall, 6-foot diameter observatory has enough space for 3 people.

Jerome Park Racetrack was an American thoroughbred horse racing facility from 1866 until 1894. It was located in a part of Westchester County, New York that was annexed into the Bronx in 1874. Jerome Park Racetrack was the home of the Belmont Stakes from 1867 until 1889. Today, Jerome Park is the name of a neighborhood adjoining the Jerome Park Reservoir, Bedford Park and Norwood in the northern Bronx.

The Bronx High School of Science (commonly called Bronx Science or Science, and formerly Science High) is a public magnet, specialized high school in New York City, New York, United States. It is operated by the New York City Department of Education. Admission to Bronx Science involves passing the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test. Each November, about 30,000 eighth and ninth graders take the three-hour test for admittance to eight of the nine specialized high schools. The test is extremely competitive, with only 800 of the 30,000 applicants being accepted to Bronx Science each year. Founded in 1938 in the Bronx, New York City, Bronx Science is now situated in an educational area known as the Educational Mile in Bedford Park, a neighborhood in the northwest portion of the Bronx. Although originally known for its focus on mathematics and science, Bronx Science also emphasizes the humanities and social sciences and continually attracts students with a wide variety of interests beyond math and science. With eight Nobel Prize-winning alumni, seven in physics and one in chemistry, it has produced the most Nobel laureates in science of any secondary school in the world. S&S Cheesecake is a kosher cheesecake producer in Bronx, New York founded by Holocaust survivor Fred Schuster and now co-run by his Israeli son-in-law Yair Ben-Zaken. S&S was opened 1960. They provided the cheesecake for the steakhouse The Palm, as well as supplying Peter Luger Steakhouse and Zabar's. Their motto is "doing one thing well".

Van Cortlandt Golf Course, sometimes known as Van Cortlandt Park Golf Course and frequently called Vanny or Vannie is one of New York City's municipal golf courses and the oldest public golf course in the United States. The course is a part of Van Cortlandt Park and is adjacent in some spots to the nearby Mosholu Golf Course. The course was established in 1895 as a nine-hole course and expanded to eighteen holes in 1899. The clubhouse dates to 1902 and its locker room was part of the film Wall Street.

The 238th Street station is a local station on the IRT Broadway–Seventh Avenue Line of the New York City Subway. Located at the intersection of 238th Street and Broadway in the Kingsbridge Heights neighborhood of the Bronx, it is served by the 1 train at all times. Built by the Interborough Rapid Transit Company (IRT), the station opened on August 1, 1908, as part of the first subway. The northbound platform was lengthened in 1910 while the southbound platform was lengthened in 1948. In 2018, the fare controls at the station were changed to allow entries in the northbound direction.

The High School of American Studies at Lehman College (commonly called American Studies, HSAS, or Lehman) is a specialized high school in New York City. The school is administered by the New York City Department of Education. It receives supplementary funding from The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. Together with the Queens High School for the Sciences at York College and the High School for Math, Science and Engineering at City College, it was one of the three smaller specialized high schools opened in 2002 by the New York City Department of Education, and it is one of the 9 Specialized High Schools in New York City. Admission is granted through a competitive examination known as the SHSAT. As a public school, American Studies has no tuition fee, and only residents of the City of New York are eligible to attend. Admission to American Studies involves passing the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test. Each November, about 30,000 eighth and ninth graders take the 3-hour test for admittance to eight of the nine specialized high schools. Approximately 80-110 applicants are accepted each year. American Studies is located on the Lehman College campus in the Jerome Park section of the Bronx. It is ranked 49th nationally by U.S. News & World Report.

DeWitt Clinton High School is a public high school located since 1929 in the Bronx, New York, United States. Opened in 1897 in Lower Manhattan as an all-boys school, it maintained that status for nearly 100 years. In 1983 it became co-ed. From its original building on West 13th Street in Manhattan, it moved in 1906 to its second home, located at 59th Street and Tenth Avenue (now the site of the John Jay College of Criminal Justice). In 1929 the school moved to its present home on Mosholu Parkway in the Bronx. After more than a century of operations, producing a raft of accomplished alumni, DeWitt Clinton High School in the early 21st century has faced serious problems involving student performance and security.
