Van Cortlandt Golf Course

The Van Cortlandt House Museum, also known as the Frederick Van Cortlandt House or simply the Van Cortlandt House, is the oldest building in the borough of the Bronx in New York City. It is located in the southwestern portion of Van Cortlandt Park, accessed via Broadway (U.S. Route 9). The house was built in 1748 in the Georgian style by Africans enslaved by Frederick Van Cortlandt (1699–1749) for his family. Van Cortlandt died before its completion and the property was inherited by his son, James Van Cortlandt (1727–1787). It is a 2+1⁄2-story, L-shaped house with a double hipped roof. It was built of dressed fieldstone and is one of the nation's finest examples of the high Georgian style in stone.The Van Cortlandts, a mercantile family prominent in New York affairs, established a grain plantation and grist mill on the property. The house was used during the Revolutionary War by the Comte de Rochambeau, Marquis de Lafayette, and George Washington. In 1889, the family sold the property to the City of New York as part of Van Cortlandt Park's creation. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1967 and became a National Historic Landmark in 1976. The house has been operated as a historic house museum since 1897, the first in the city and fourth in the country.

Amalgamated Housing Cooperative, originally the Amalgamated Cooperative Apartment House, is a pioneering American limited-equity cooperative apartment complex organized under the provisions of the Private Housing Finance (PVH) law, article IV (unlike the Mitchell-Lama housing under PVH, art. II) and originally built from 1927 to 1930 in The Bronx, New York City, New York.The Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America, headed by Sidney Hillman and prodded by Cooperative housing founder Abraham E. Kazan, funded and organized the construction of a community of affordable housing for the working class. It was designed by the architectural team that included Herman Jessor, the man who ultimately designed the bulk of the housing cooperatives that went up between 1930–1975. It was the first cooperative housing complex in the United States founded under the limited equity rules. The undertaking was such a success, that it spawned over 40,000 more units to crop up around New York City. Amalgamated Housing grew from original 300 to almost 1500 apartments by 2007. The newest tower building was completed in 1971.

Jerome Park is a municipal park in the West Bronx of New York City. The park, along with the surrounding neighborhood of the same name, are both on land that was once Jerome Park Racetrack, which was founded by Leonard W. Jerome, grandfather of Winston Churchill. The park occupies a long and narrow strip of land between Jerome Park Reservoir and Goulden avenue. Neighboring the park are two "Education Mile" institutions: The Bronx High School of Science, and DeWitt Clinton High School. Harris Park, another New York City Department of Parks and Recreation property, is another neighbor. The Jerome Park Reservoir and its surroundings (including the park) were further developed under the federal Works Progress Administration. The park opened on April 4, 1940.In June 2022, the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York (City) proposed relocating a public observatory to the park at the suggestion of The Bronx High School of Science. The proposed observatory was previously in use at Nassau Community College for more than 40 years. The 12-foot tall, 6-foot diameter observatory has enough space for 3 people.

Van Cortlandt Village is a subsection of the Kingsbridge neighborhood in the New York City borough of the Bronx. The neighborhood is part of Bronx Community Board 8. Named after Van Cortlandt Park, it is bordered by the Major Deegan Expressway to the west, the Jerome Park Reservoir to the east, West 238th Street to the south, and Van Cortlandt Park to the north. New York City Water Tunnel No. 3 is a water-supply tunnel forming part of the New York City water supply system. It is being built by the New York City Department of Environmental Protection to provide New York City with a third connection to its upstate water supply. Water Tunnel No. 3 is the largest capital construction project in New York City history. The tunnel will be more than 60 miles (97 km) long, travel 500 feet (150 m) below street level in sections, and will cost over $6 billion. Construction began in 1970 and is expected to not be completed until at least 2026. The tunnel will serve as a backup to Water Tunnel No. 1, completed in 1917, and Water Tunnel No. 2, completed in 1936.

The Van Cortlandt Park–242nd Street station is the northern terminal station on the IRT Broadway–Seventh Avenue Line of the New York City Subway. Located at the intersection of 242nd Street and Broadway (US Route 9) in the Bronx, it is served by the 1 train at all times. It is adjacent to Van Cortlandt Park to the east, Manhattan College, and the 240th Street Yard of the subway system, along with the affluent neighborhoods of Fieldston and Riverdale to the west. It was built from a design by subway architects Heins and Lafarge. Today it is the only remaining Victorian Gothic elevated terminal station on the subway, and contains the subway's only remaining scrolled station sign among its decorative flourishes. In 2005, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Horace Mann School (also known as Horace Mann or HM) is a private, independent college-preparatory school in the Bronx, founded in 1887. Horace Mann is a member of the Ivy Preparatory School League, educating students from the New York metropolitan area from nursery school to the twelfth grade. The Upper, Middle, and Lower Divisions are located in Riverdale, a neighborhood of the Bronx, while the Nursery School is located in Manhattan. The John Dorr Nature Laboratory, a 275 acres (111 ha) campus in Washington Depot, Connecticut, serves as the school's outdoor and community education center. Tuition for the 2019–20 school year from pre-kindergarten through grade twelve is $52,300 per annum, not including some additional fees, one of which exceeds $1,000. The 2020 Niche survey ranked HM as the 3rd best K–12 private school in the country and the 12th best private high school in the country.

The 1989 firebombing of the Riverdale Press was an attack in which two firebombs were thrown at the offices of a weekly newspaper, the Riverdale Press, in the Riverdale community of the Bronx, New York City on February 28, 1989. The building was heavily damaged. Two California bookstores were also damaged in similar attacks.The bombing took place shortly after the newspaper published an editorial defending Salman Rushdie during the controversy over The Satanic Verses.

Draddy Gymnasium is a 2,345-seat multi-purpose arena in the Bronx, New York. It is located on the campus of Manhattan College and is the home of the Manhattan Jaspers athletic teams including men's and women's basketball and women's volleyball. The building has the largest indoor track in New York City. It was named in the honor of alumnus Vincent dePaul Draddy. The Draddy Gymnasium was featured in Season 1 of The Cosby Show where Clifford Huxtable trains to get ready for a relay race rematch of former college acquaintances at the Meadowlands Arena.

S&S Cheesecake is a kosher cheesecake producer in Bronx, New York founded by Holocaust survivor Fred Schuster and now co-run by his Israeli son-in-law Yair Ben-Zaken. S&S was opened 1960. They provided the cheesecake for the steakhouse The Palm, as well as supplying Peter Luger Steakhouse and Zabar's. Their motto is "doing one thing well".

Gaelic Park (Irish: Páirc na nGael) is a multi-purpose outdoor athletics facility, located at West 240th Street and Broadway in Riverdale, Bronx, in New York City in the U.S. state of New York. Since 1926 the grounds has been used as the venue for Gaelic games in New York, and since its purchase by Manhattan College in 1991 it has hosted numerous American college athletic events. Located just west of Broadway and south and west of Van Cortlandt Park in the northernmost part of the Bronx just south of the city border with Westchester County, Gaelic Park was purchased in 1926 by the Gaelic Athletic Association of Greater New York. It has been given a few different names over time including Innisfail Park, but since the 1950s it has gone by its current name, Gaelic Park, a reflection of the park's decidedly Irish flavor. The park includes a playing field and dance hall. In addition to hurling and football matches, a number of other sporting events take place at Gaelic Park. There are also concerts and dances that feature Irish music both old and new.
