The 145th Street station is a local station on the IRT Broadway–Seventh Avenue Line of the New York City Subway. Located at the intersection of Broadway and 145th Street in Hamilton Heights, Manhattan, it is served by the 1 train at all times. The 145th Street station was constructed for the Interborough Rapid Transit Company (IRT) as part of the city's first subway line, which was approved in 1900. Construction of the line segment that includes 145th Street began on May 14 of the same year. The station opened on October 27, 1904, as one of the original 28 stations of the New York City Subway. The station's platforms were lengthened in 1948. The 145th Street station contains two side platforms and three tracks; the center track is not used in regular service. The station was built with tile and mosaic decorations. The platforms contain exits to 145th Street and Broadway and are not connected to each other within fare control.

The Hamilton Grange Branch of the New York Public Library is a historic library building located in Hamilton Heights, Manhattan, New York City. It was designed by McKim, Mead & White and built in 1905–1906. The branch was one of 65 built by the New York Public Library with funds provided by the philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, 11 of them designed by McKim, Mead & White. It is a three-story-high, five-bay-wide building faced in deeply rusticated gray limestone in an Italian Renaissance style. The building features round arched openings on the first floor and bronze lamps and grilles.It was designated a New York City Landmark in 1970 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981.

On May 22, 1967, two New York Central Railroad freight trains collided head-on on the West 30th Street Branch line in Manhattan, New York City. That morning track two of the line was closed for repair, and so trains were single-tracking on track one. A 15-car, three-engine train traveling south from Syracuse, New York, collided with a northbound 60-car, four-engine train on a curve just south of 147th street, killing six crew members—three from each train Both trains were traveling around 40 miles per hour (64 km/h). This was the first accident investigated by the newly-formed U.S. National Transportation Safety Board, which blamed the New York City 72nd Street tower operator for failing to restrict the movement of the northbound train, along with other contributing dispatcher and operator errors.

New Heights Academy Charter School (M353) is a charter school in Harlem, New York City, New York for grades 5 - 12, located at 1818 Amsterdam Avenue. It is within the New York City Department of Education. The students originate from Harlem, Inwood, and Washington Heights.New Heights Academy Charter School was founded in 2006 for students in grades 5-12 living in Harlem, Washington Heights and Inwood. Washington Heights in particular was lacking in high school options for students entering 9th grade, so the opening of New Heights provided these students with the opportunity to attend high school in their own neighborhood. The Church of the Intercession is an Episcopal congregation located at 550 West 155th Street, at Broadway, on the border of the Harlem and Washington Heights neighborhoods of Manhattan, New York City, on the grounds of Trinity Church Cemetery. The congregation was founded in 1846, and the current sanctuary, built in 1912–1915, was designed by Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue in the Gothic Revival style. From 1906–1976, it was a chapel of Trinity Church.In 2020, it reported 210 members, no average attendance, and $109,272 in plate and pledge income. The Church of the Intercession and its Tudor Revival vicarage were designated New York City Landmarks in 1966, and the complex was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

The 32nd Police Precinct Station is a former New York City Police Department (NYPD) police station at 1850–1854 Amsterdam Avenue, at the intersection with 152nd Street, in the Hamilton Heights neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City, United States. Built in 1871 or 1872, it was designed by Nathaniel D. Bush, the in-house architect for the NYPD. The main building was designed in the French Second Empire style and has four stories and a basement. The 152nd Street and Amsterdam Avenue elevations of the facade are nearly identical, with brick facades, sandstone and granite decorations, central pavilions, and mansard roofs. The interior preserves several original 19th-century elements. The complex also includes a two-story prison (connected to the main building by a one-story wing), as well as an attached garage. The building served the 32nd (later 30th) Precinct of the NYPD from its completion until 1975. The precinct's original building, constructed on land acquired in 1864, was at the same intersection as the current building. The garage was constructed on the site of the original stable in 1926. After the NYPD moved out, the main building was sold to the St. Luke African Methodist Episcopal Church, while the garage was split into separate ownership. The main building is a New York City designated landmark, and the entire complex is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
