Chabad headquarters car ramming attack

On 24 April 2025, a mob of pro-Israel Orthodox Jewish men and boys attacked a smaller group of people protesting a visit of Israel's Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir to the Chabad-Lubavitch World Headquarters in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. The mob followed and assaulted two women. One victim, an Israeli-American protester, was hit in the head with an unknown object and required stitches. The other woman, a bystander, was shoved, kicked, hit with a traffic cone, and threatened with rape and phrases like "Death to Arabs" while a police officer escorted her to a police car. In a lawsuit against New York City, the two victims accused the New York City Police Department (NYPD) of failing to protect them from assault because of bias against pro-Palestine protesters. As of November 2025, no one has been arrested for the assaults.

On January 8, 2024, clashes broke out at the World Headquarters of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement, a synagogue located at 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, as construction workers, on behalf of the synagogue's leaders, attempted to fill in a tunnel that students had illegally dug beneath the building. The New York City Police Department was called to intervene and arrested nine people.

Built by architect, Steve H. Wilkowski of Milagros PM, the museum opened in 2004. In 2005, the Museum was among 406 New York City arts and social service institutions to receive part of a $20 million grant from the Carnegie Corporation, which was made possible through a donation by New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Basil is credited with "ushering in the new era of fine kosher dining in the neighborhood, " so that by 2017 The Jewish Week described Crown Heights as "an eating destination." The menu features a range of vegetarian and fish dishes, in addition to pizza baked in a wood-fired oven. Frank Bruni of The New York Times describes Basil, which opened in 2010 on the West Indian side of a neighborhood with a mixed population of Orthodox Jews, immigrants from the West Indies, that was beginning to attract hipsters and upscale purchasers for it fin de siecle row houses, as a "cross-cultural experiment, trying to promote better integration of, and communication between, groups in Crown Heights that haven’t always mingled much or seen eye to eye."Moshe Wendel was part of the team that opened Basil. The Forward called Wendel, one of the "small band of chefs has led the way in kosher dining, with restaurants that rival their local non-kosher competition."The owner is Daniel Branover.

The Rohr Jewish Learning Institute (JLI) is a division of Merkos L'Inyonei Chinuch, the educational arm of the Chabad-Lubavitch Orthodox Jewish Hasidic dynasty. It offers adult Jewish courses on Jewish history, law, ethics, philosophy and rabbinical literature worldwide. It also develops Jewish studies curricula specifically for women, college students, teenagers, and seniors. In 2014, the organization claimed there were 117,500 people enrolled in JLI, making it the largest Jewish education network in the world. It was created with a mission to make the teachings, values and traditions of the Jewish people accessible and personally meaningful to all Jews, regardless of their background or affiliation. Lamplighters Yeshivah was a Jewish Montessori-style school for Jewish children located in Crown Heights, Brooklyn that was founded in 2009. In 2020, the school was closed due to financial difficulties.

Brooklyn Home for Consumptives (previously, Garfield Memorial Home; later, Brooklyn Thoracic Hospital and Brooklyn Hospital; currently, Brooklyn Hospital Center) was an American sanatorium located in Brooklyn, New York. Founded in 1881 as an almshouse, it was a purely benevolent and non-sectarian institution. It had two sections, one of which was attended by homoeopathic physicians and the other by allopathic practitioners, who treated the patients according to their choice. The home went through several changes before becoming the Brooklyn Hospital Center.

Machon Chana is a private religious college for Jewish women affiliated with the Chabad Hasidic movement and geared toward Baalot Teshuva – women from secular backgrounds who become more observant. The school is located in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York.
