Teatro Español ("Español Theatre" – former Teatro del Príncipe and Corral del Príncipe) is a public theater administered by the Government of Madrid, Spain. The prime location was an open-air theater in medieval times where small venues and some theatrical pieces, which formed famous classical literature in later years, were staged. Its establishment was authorized by a decree of Philip II in 1565.The 18th century also marked the definitive consecration of Teatro del Príncipe, which had its own group of followers, the "chorizos," in constant struggle with the "polacos," who preferred the scenarios of the rival Teatro de la Cruz. By this time, Leandro Fernández de Moratín premiered La comedia nueva at Teatro del Príncipe. On 11 July 1802, the theater was engulfed by fire, to be re-opened five years later with the conclusion of the renovation work led by Juan de Villanueva.The current building, erected in Neoclassical style according to a design of Román Guerrero, was built between 1887 and 1895 under the direction of Natalio Grueso. In the foreground of the theater is Plaza de Santa Ana, built after the demolition of a 16th-century Carmelite monastery. The names of famous theater personalities are engraved on the façade, among them the name of Federico García Lorca.

Federico García Lorca or the Monument to Federico García Lorca is an instance of public art in Madrid, Spain. Located at the Plaza de Santa Ana, in front of the Teatro Español, it consists of a bronze statue of the aforementioned poet and playwright.

Plaza de Santa Ana (English: Saint Anne Square) is a plaza located in central Madrid, Spain, nearby Puerta del Sol and Calle de Huertas, in the Barrio de las Letras. It features monuments to Spanish Golden Age writer Pedro Calderón de la Barca and to the poet and playwright Federico García Lorca and numerous restaurants, cafes and tapas bars, with its terraces covering most of the sides surfaces. Teatro Español, the oldest theater in Madrid, is located on the plaza's east side. It was built in seventeenth century and then had the name Corral del Príncipe. On the west side of the plaza, a luxury hotel (now ME Madrid Reina Victoria) was built in the early nineteenth century. The hotel achieved fame for being the favorite among the most popular bullfighters. For example, the regular guest Manolete always reserved room number 220 in superstition . Another interesting fact is that the hotel NH Vantas, close to Plaza de Toros in Madrid, has its own room 220 usually booked by the famous painter Xavier Morard. The plaza is a popular meeting point in Madrid.

The former headquarters of Banco Central Hispano is located in Madrid, Spain. It was declared Bien de Interés Cultural in 1999.

Lhardy is a restaurant located at Madrid in Spain, which was opened in 1839 by Emilio Huguenin Lhardy. It was said to have introduced French haute cuisine to Madrid. It has a deli and takeaway service on the ground floor and a formal restaurant on the second floor. It is one of the oldest restaurants of Madrid

The Palace of marqués de Miraflores (Spanish: Palacio del marqués de Miraflores) is a palace located in Madrid, Spain. It was declared Bien de Interés Cultural in 1976.

The Banco Bilbao Vizcaya (formerly Banco de Bilbao) is a building located at Calle de Alcalá, 16, in Madrid, Spain. Projected in 1919 by architect Ricardo Bastida (1879–1953) and built from 1920 to 1923 for Banco de Bilbao, a constituent financial institution of BBVA. It was declared Bien de Interés Cultural in 1999. The rotunda features murals painted by Aurelio Arteta in 1922 and restored in 2003.

The Casino de Madrid (Spanish: Casino de Madrid) is currently located in Madrid, Spain on number 15 Calle de Alcalá. It was born as a social club in 1836, outside of politics and with the intention of being a place where its members could congregate in peace. It was declared Bien de Interés Cultural in 1993.

The National Defence Council (Spanish: Consejo Nacional de Defensa) was the governing body in Republican Spain at the end of the Spanish Civil War (1936–1939). The council seized power with Colonel Segismundo Casado’s coup on 5 March 1939 when it was clear that the Republicans had lost the war. The leaders hoped to negotiate an end to hostilities with the rebel forces led by General Francisco Franco. However, Franco insisted on unconditional surrender, and on 26 March 1939 launched the final offensive of the Spanish Civil War. By the end of the month he controlled the whole country. Most of the council members escaped into exile on British warships.

The Real Casa de la Aduana (Spanish: Real Casa de la Aduana means royal customs house) is the headquarters of Spain's Ministry of Economy and Ministry of the Treasury. It is located on Madrid's longest street, the Calle de Alcalá. The eighteenth-century building has been modified over the years. It was declared Bien de Interés Cultural in 1998.
