The Lucille Lortel Theatre is an off-Broadway playhouse at 121 Christopher Street in Manhattan's West Village. It was built in 1926 as a 590-seat movie theater called the New Hudson, later known as Hudson Playhouse. The interior is largely unchanged to this day. In the early 1950s, the site was converted to an off-Broadway theater as Theatre de Lys, opening on June 9, 1953, with a production of Maya, a play by Simon Gantillon starring Kay Medford, Vivian Matalon, and Susan Strasberg. It closed after seven performances. Much more successful was The Threepenny Opera which opened March 10, 1954, with a cast that included Bea Arthur, John Astin, Lotte Lenya, Leon Lishner, Scott Merrill, Gerald Price, Charlotte Rae and Jo Sullivan. Because of an incoming booking, it was forced to close after 96 performances. Re-opening September 20, 1955, with largely the same cast, The Threepenny Opera this time played until December 17, 1961, a then record-setting run for a musical in New York City.In 1955, financier Louis Schweitzer acquired the building as an anniversary present for his wife, actress-producer Lucille Lortel. In 1981, the year of her 81st birthday, the theatre was renamed in her honor. After Lortel's death in April 1999, she left the theatre to the Lucille Lortel Foundation.

St. Luke's School is a coeducational elementary and middle school which is divided into a Lower School (Grades JK-4) and an Upper School (Grades 5–8). In 2020, the school completed an expansion, during which the school grew from a one-class-per-grade model to two classes per grade. Total enrollment for 2021-2022 is 340, which includes one class of Junior Kindergarten and two classes of Kindergarten through Grade 8. Class sizes range from 18 to 20. The student-teacher ratio is 7:1. Bart Baldwin has served as Head of School since 2007. 131 Charles Street is a Federal style townhouse on Charles Street and near Greenwich Street in the West Village neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. The red brick Federal two-story-over-raised-basement townhouse with a dormer attic was built in 1834 by David Christie, a stone cutter, for about $2,600. The brick is laid in the Flemish bond pattern. "These residences of the 1820s were almost all builder's, carpenter's, or stonemason's homes, and there were several blocks of them at one time. in 1899 Montgomery Schuyler, the critic, wrote that they were 'the most respectable and artistic pattern of habitation New York has ever known.'" The house was listed April 19, 1966, as a New York City Landmark.The structure retains all original window frames and lintels (except in the dormers) At least until 1971, when the property was nominated to the National Register of Historic Places, the trim was white and many original interior features of the house remained. Some minor exterior changes were made during the Victorian period. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972 for its architecture. From 1959 to 1968, the photographer Diane Arbus lived in the former stable behind the main house at 131 Charles St. The address of the back house is 131½ Charles St.

Plane Space was a contemporary art gallery located in the Greenwich Village district of Manhattan. The gallery featured mixed media work by emerging to mid-career artists in the U.S. and abroad. Plane Space opened on August 28, 2002, in an 1855 firehouse. Its mission was to show the most engaging contemporary art being created today. The interior of the gallery was designed by the New York-based firm Deborah Berke & Partners Architects. Its 1,300-square-foot (120 m2) ground floor space housed over 40 shows in its life span and closed in December 2008. The gallery's programming consisted of eight exhibitions annually of emerging to mid-career American and international artists working in sculpture, installation, drawing, painting, photography, and video. Plane Space featured a summer artist residency program. A selected artist living outside of New York City was invited to live in the quarters above the gallery and work in the exhibition space during Plane Space's dormant month of August. As a result, each season, began with a site-specific installation. In 2007 the summer resident was British artist Zoe Mendelson and in 2008 the final summer resident was American artist Emily Counts.

The Christopher Street station was an express station on the demolished IRT Ninth Avenue Line in Manhattan in New York City. It had three tracks, one island platform and two side platforms. It was served by trains from the IRT Ninth Avenue Line. It opened on November 3, 1873 and closed on June 11, 1940. On February 25, 1908, the Hudson and Manhattan Railroad built a subway station just east of this station as part of the extension between Hoboken and 33rd Street. The next southbound local stop was Houston Street. The next southbound express stop was Desbrosses Street. The next northbound stop was 14th Street for all trains.

The Church of St. Luke in the Fields is an Episcopal church located at 487 Hudson Street between Christopher and Barrow Streets at the intersection of Grove Street in the West Village neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. The church was constructed in 1821–1822 and has been attributed to both John Heath, the building contractor, and James N. Wells.The church is affiliated with the St. Luke's School, an elementary school located on the same block. Both are located within the Greenwich Village Historic District, designated in 1969.

Christopher Street is a street in the West Village neighborhood of the New York City borough of Manhattan. It is the continuation of 9th Street west of Sixth Avenue. It is most notable for the Stonewall Inn, which is located on Christopher Street near the corner of Seventh Avenue South. As a result of the Stonewall riots in 1969, the street became the epicenter of the world’s gay rights movement in the late 1970s. To this day, the inn and the street serve as an international symbol of gay pride. Christopher Street is named after Charles Christopher Amos, the owner of the inherited estate which included the location of the street. Amos is also the namesake of nearby Charles Street, and of the former Amos Street, which is now West 10th Street.
