Pinnacles Gallery is an art space located within the Riverway Arts Centre at Riverway, Townsville, Queensland, Australia. Its mission is "to make sure its programs are contemporary, engaging, accessible, interactive and enjoyable".Artists can submit applications to have solo exhibitions of their work exhibited, and the gallery co-ordinates a number of group exhibitions in which artists can submit works. Pinnacles also hosts artist talks and workshops for a range of ages, as well as educational programs and guided tours for school and community groups. The gallery exhibits contemporary work from local, national and international artists. Pinnacles also operates exhibitions at Your Space, an exhibition space for artists, community groups and curators in the foyer of the Thuringowa branch of CityLibraries Townsville. Exhibitions are generally shown for a duration of four weeks, and showcase works of a local social, literary and historical significance. Selections are made with the view to maintain a diverse, high quality community exhibition program.

In 2017, it has 1997 students with 156 teachers (145 full-time equivalent) and 75 non-teaching staff (59 full-time equivalent), making it the largest high school in North Queensland. It is located in the former city of Thuringowa.

Aitkenvale Aerodrome was an aerodrome located 10 km (6 mi) southwest of Townsville, Queensland, Australia near Aitkenvale Weir on the banks of the Ross River. It was also known as Weir and Aitkenvale Weir. The aerodrome was constructed in 1942, during World War II, for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as part of a group of airfields to be used as aircraft dispersal fields in the event of Imperial Japanese attack on the Townsville area. Located adjacent to the Weir State School, it became operational on 9 April 1942. Initially consisting of a 4,500 ft (1,372 m) gravel NE-SW runway, which was later sealed with bitumen. It was abandoned after the war and has been redeveloped for housing.

The City of Thuringowa (19°18′26″S 146°43′54″E) was a city and local government area in North Queensland, Australia covering the northern and western parts of what is now Townsville. The suburb of Thuringowa Central is the main business centre in this area. Thuringowa was named after the German state of Thuringia where the shire's first chairman, John von Stieglitz, originated. Prior to its proclamation as a city on 1 January 1986, Thuringowa was a large rural shire, almost surrounding the City of Townsville. In 2007 the Queensland Government recommended that the Thuringowa City Council and the Townsville City Council be merged as part of the review of councils and boundaries, with the merged entity to be referred to as the Townsville City Council and the city being called the New Townsville City. The transition was completed with the election of a new combined Council on 15 March 2008.

Ryan Catholic College is a combined, co-educational, primary and secondary school in what is now the City of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. It was established by the Roman Catholic Diocese lalalkskksof Townsville in 1979. Ryan is the largest catholic school in Townsville.It currently has over 1900 enrolments and employs approximately 200 teachers. It is unique in the fact that students are not required to address their teachers by their prefixes and last names. The students commonly address their respective teachers by their first names. Ryan Catholic College is broken up into 2 campuses with a junior school on the smaller campus, with the middle and senior schools located on the main (Ryan) campus.A new two-storey building was constructed throughout 2007 on the main campus. The building houses classrooms, toilets, showers and a staffroom. The building replaces the former 'temporary' I block, which has been moved and now functions as a permanent set of classrooms.In 2011, the college opened the Emmaus Hall.There is a new library that was built in 2018 and finished around 2019 November which houses state of the art buildings for all children and teachers.

Kirwan Health Campus is a health service located in the suburb of Kirwan, Queensland, Australia, and is the main health facility serving residents in the City of Townsville, about 12 kilometres (7 mi) west of the Townsville CBD. The Kirwan Health Campus offers a range of specialist services and is not an emergency or general hospital, such services are provided out of the Townsville Hospital in nearby Douglas. The Health Campus opened on 21 June 2006 at the former Kirwan Hospital for Women.Kirwan Health Campus cost $20 million to redevelop, and is staffed by 230 health care professionals that can provide treatment and medical services to more than 150 families each day. This is the largest community health facility in Australia and was officially opened by Health Minister, Stephen Robertson.

Jack Manski Oval is a sporting venue situated in the suburb of Kirwan in Townsville, Queensland, Australia. Predominantly used as a rugby league ground, it is the home ground of the Townsville Blackhawks, who play in the Queensland Cup. The ground is also used by the Townsville Brothers junior and senior rugby league teams.

The 2010 North Queensland Cowboys season was the 16th season in the club's history. Coached by Neil Henry and co-captained by Johnathan Thurston and Matthew Scott, they competed in the National Rugby League's 2010 Telstra Premiership, finishing in 15th place and failing to make the finals for the 3rd consecutive year.
