Newburgh Mall is a regional shopping center located on NY 300 in the Town of Newburgh, New York, near where Interstate 87 (the New York State Thruway) intersects with Interstate 84. It was opened in 1980 by Kravco property management (later Kravco Simon), which owns King of Prussia Mall outside Philadelphia. The mall has 46 stores and the only anchor store is Office Depot. Bed Bath & Beyond was a former anchor of the mall but the brand had seen a steep decline in recent years. In early 2023 this led to the closure of many of their stores in New York state, including the Newburgh Mall location. There are 2 vacant anchor stores that was once Sears and The Bon-Ton. Original anchors included the now defunct chains Caldor and Howland's (later Steinbach, then Old Navy, now TRACK23).Old Navy relocated out of the mall in 2011. More than 25 percent vacant since 2009, the mall faced foreclosure in 2012. After operating in foreclosure for several years, the mall was sold at a foreclosure sale for $10 to the holder of its mortgage, Wells Fargo.In 2017 the mall was sold for $7.7 million.On August 29, 2022 it was announced that Sears would be closing in fall of 2022 marking the end of era after 43 years as the last original anchor store in the mall as well as the last Sears department store in New York The Closing date for this store was announced 2 days later on August 31, 2022 in a Facebook post with the final day of operation being Sunday, October 16, 2022.On December 28, 2022, after 50 million dollars in renovations, the Malaysian-based Genting Group Resorts World Hudson Valley Casino, occupying 60 thousand square feet, featuring over 1200 slot machines and video lottery terminals (only the ninth official video lottery facility in New York State), and electronic 82 table games, opened in the Newburgh Mall at the site of the former The Bon-Ton Department Stores in the Newburgh Mall. The arrangement also includes a three million dollar annual payment by the Genting Group to the Town of Newburgh for the rights to host the casino in the township, which includes an annual 500 thousand dollar payment to Newburgh enhance police, fire and ambulance services, according to the Times-herald Record newspaper. The video lottery terminals were previously operated by the Genting Group at Monticello Raceway as a racino. The track remains open, but racino was later closed when the Genting Group opened Resorts World Catskills Casino in Monticello, New York.

The Orange Mill Historic District is the only historic district in the Town of Newburgh in Orange County, New York. It encompasses the 42 acres (17 ha) of county-run Algonquin Park and many of the surrounding lands. It is centered along Powder Mill Road just off NY 52, a mile northwest of the city of Newburgh, at the edge of the suburban hamlet of Gardnertown. The district takes its name from the old gunpowder mill complex, built by Asa Taylor in 1816 and operated by the Laflin & Rand Powder Company after 1869. It is located along the unnamed Orange Lake outlet brook which flows through the park just above its outlet at Quassaick Creek.While it primarily produced powder for local residents' use in hunting and shooting sports, during the Civil War the Union Army procured some higher quality material. In the years before that conflict, local historian Edward Ruttenber claimed the mills were "the most complete and extensive works in the country" when they were under the ownership of a man named Daniel Rodgers.After production stopped in the early 20th century, developers began building on houses on some of the property. Col. Frederic Adrian Delano (1863–1953), uncle of future President Franklin D. Roosevelt, purchased the remaining land, which included the core of the manufacturing operation, for use as a public park. Originally it was to have belonged to the City of Newburgh and in fact was deeded to the city, even though it was not contiguous with the city and is over a mile outside the city limits. The City of Newburgh maintained the park until the mid-1970s, at which time it became cost prohibitive and it gave up ownership. Eventually, Orange County purchased the property and it remains a part of the Orange County Parks and Recreation system to this day. It is adjacent to Cronomer Hill Park, which borders it across Powder Mill Road to the northwest. Cronomer Hill Park is a separate Orange County Park. Today the historic district includes 14 of these buildings which had been the core of the manufacturing operation as contributing properties. It was designed to incorporate the old buildings as an essential feature, and many of the roofless stone structures still stand next to the park's barbecue pits and picnic grounds. It is the only remaining 19th-century gunpowder production facility in New York. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.

Gardnertown is a hamlet (and census-designated place) in Orange County, New York, United States. The population was 4,542 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Poughkeepsie–Newburgh–Middletown, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area as well as the larger New York–Newark–Bridgeport, NY-NJ-CT-PA Combined Statistical Area. Gardnertown is located within the town of Newburgh, and is approximately two miles northwest of the city of Newburgh, a completely separate municipality. It takes its name from Silas Gardner, an early settler whose stone house, a Registered Historic Place, remains in use as a private residence on Route 300 just north of Route 52. Gardnertown is the geographic center of the Town of Newburgh. Accordingly, most of the governmental buildings, including the Town Hall, the Police Department, and the Code Compliance (Old Town Hall) building, are all located in Gardnertown. The Town Justice Court is located about a mile and a half to the north.

Newburgh () is a town in Orange County, New York, United States. It forms part of the Poughkeepsie—Newburgh—Middletown metropolitan area, which is a part of the New York megacity, and is a suburban satellite of the urbanized city of Newburgh. The city of Newburgh was a part of the town prior to 1865. New York Stewart International Airport is partially located within the township, and much of the land into which it could have been expanded has been turned into Stewart State Forest. As of the 2020 census, the population of the town is 31,985. The 2010 census determined the population was 29,801, marking the first time ever that the population of the town of Newburgh officially exceeded that of the neighboring city of Newburgh (with a population of 28,866). Estimates released by the U.S. Census Bureau during 2018 show the Newburgh township's population exceeded 30,000.The town of Newburgh is known as the "crossroads of the Northeast", a phrase coined in the 1980s by then-town supervisor Robert J. Kirkpatrick Jr., not only because of Stewart Airport and the Hudson River, but also because two major interstate highways cross the town: Interstate 84 (east and west) and Interstate 87, also known as the New York State Thruway (north and south). Previously, the highways were accessible to each other via a short stretch of New York State Route 300 (a major north–south thoroughfare and a main commercial corridor in the town) but a direct connection between I-84 and the Thruway was completed in December 2009, after being under construction for five years.

The community of Orange Lake is in the western part of the Town of Newburgh, located on the east side of a lake also called Orange Lake.

Lake Washington is the primary reservoir for the city of Newburgh, New York, United States. It is located just southwest of the city, lying partially within it and the neighboring towns of Newburgh and New Windsor. It holds approximately 1.5 billion US gallons (5,700,000 m3), an amount equivalent to the city's annual consumption.Recreational facilities such as picnic grounds are accessible to the public at Masterson Park, near the reservoir's spillway along NY 207.

Chadwick Lake is a reservoir supplying water to the Town of Newburgh, in Orange County, New York, United States, in which it is located. It is a manmade lake created in 1926 on private property owned by the Chadwick family by damming Quassaick Creek. It was maintained for recreational purposes for 36 years. In 1962, it was purchased by the Town of Newburgh as a reservoir to supply the Town with water. In more recent years, its use as a water supply has been supplanted by the Delaware Aqueduct and so Chadwick Lake has reverted to its original function of a recreational facility. It is located immediately to the northwest of the junction of NY 32 and 300 in the Cronomer Valley section of the town. It is open to the public, and there are recreational facilities near the southern end. Most of the town's water is supplied today by New York City's Delaware Aqueduct, with the reservoir acting primarily as a backup. In the past, surplus water has been sold to private companies, and in 2006 to neighboring New Windsor during a water shortage there. At times, more often than not, the Town of Newburgh has relied exclusively on the Aqueduct since manganese levels in the lake give its waters a brownish tint. This is especially true since a new, state of the art water treatment plant at the Delaware Aqueduct went on line in early 2014. Facilities near the lake's southern end, include picnic shelters, two playgrounds, fitness and walking trails and boating launches. A recent expansion is adding basketball courts, a skating rink and an arboretum. Use is generally limited to town residents. Fishing is also allowed on the lake; largemouth bass is a common catch. A very popular addition to the park is a 4.2 mile hiking trail, which encircles the entire lake.

The Belknap Stone House in Newburgh, New York, was built by Abel Belknap in the 1750s. Abel Belknap chaired the local Committee of Safety during the war, and when the Continental Army was encamped in the Newburgh area in 1782–83, the house served as James Clinton's headquarters in the area. Today it has been restored and operates as Stone Cottage Veterinary Clinic. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

Orange Lake is located near the hamlet named after it in the Town of Newburgh, New York, United States. At 400 acres (160 ha) in surface area it is the largest lake entirely within Orange County, after which it is named.

The James "Squire" Patton House is located along the brief overlap of NY 207 and 300 in New Windsor, New York, United States. It is on a five-acre (2 ha) parcel owned by the nearby city of Newburgh, formerly used for police K-9 training. The house now sits abandoned and in a state of decay. It was built in 1790, although it is not known by whom. Patton, a prominent local farmer and landowner, bought the property as a young man a quarter-century later. It assumed its present form after several additions and renovations in the first 40 years of its existence. In 2008 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Stewart Air National Guard Base, located in Orange County, New York, is the base of the 105th Airlift Wing (105 AW), an Air Mobility Command unit of the New York Air National Guard and "host" wing for the installation. The airport also hosts extensive civilian facilities, known alternately as Newburgh-Stewart, Stewart International Airport or New York Stewart International. Stewart Airfield opened in 1934 at the direction of Douglas MacArthur as a training facility for the nearby United States Military Academy (West Point). The base is named in honor of a 19th-century Scottish-born sea captain, Lachlan Stewart, and his son, who donated the land it now occupies. It was built out significantly during World War II. In 1948 it transitioned to the newly formed United States Air Force to become the Stewart Air Force Base while also continuing its training mission with West Point. In 1958 it added a SAGE direction center, DC-02, controlling the Boston Air Defense Sector. Most operations at Stewart wound down in the 1960s. The base was deactivated in 1970 and taken over by New York State as a civilian airport. The current base opened in 1980 by agreement between the state and the ANG. The next year, it was the arrival airport for the freed American hostages from Iran.
