Moylough ( moy-LOKH; Irish: Maigh Locha, meaning 'plain of the lake') is a small rural village located in County Galway in Ireland. It is located on the N63 national secondary road (Cnoc Tua Mór–Longford), and is served also by the R328 and R364 regional roads. It is 50 km from Galway, 30 km from Roscommon, and 5 km northwest of Mountbellew. It is twinned with Elliant in Brittany. It used to be part of the kingdom of the Soghain of Connacht. Moylough is the birthplace of Thomas Higgins who became the shortest serving MP in Westminster when, representing the Irish Parliamentary Party, he was posthumously declared elected a Member of Parliament of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland on 26 January 1906.Thomas Carr, Archbishop of Melbourne 1886–1917, was born near Moylough in 1839.There is a statue of the Galway Gaelic Footballer Enda Colleran in the town.Former Irish Rugby Manager Eddie O'Sullivan is from Moylough.In 1947, the Moylough Belt-Shrine, an 8th century Irish reliquary shaped in the form of a belt, was found here by a peat bog by John Towey while he was cutting turf near Moylough.

Together with nearby Skehana, Menlough is a half-parish within the diocesan parish of Killascobe in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Tuam.

Mountbellew–Moylough (Irish: An Creagán/Maugh Locha) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in County Galway, Ireland. The club is a member of the Galway GAA. The club was formerly known as Mountbellew before amalgamating with Moylough. On 14 November 2021, they won their first Galway Senior Club Football Championship title since 1986 with a win over reigning All-Ireland club champions Corofin.

The Carrownagappul Bog (Irish: Portach Ceathrú na gCapall) Special Area of Conservation or SAC is a Natura 2000 site in County Galway, close to the town of Mountbellew in County Galway, Ireland. The site qualifies for Special Area of Conservation status under three criteria: the presence of active raised bog, of degraded raised bogs still capable of natural regeneration, and of depressions on peat substrates of the Rhynchosporion.

Mountbellew Agricultural College or Franciscan Brothers College is a training college for the farming and agricultural industry in Mountbellew, County Galway, Ireland. It was founded in 1904 by the Franciscan Brothers, who previously had a secondary school on the location, and was the first such college in Ireland. It is a private college but runs courses in association with the Irish governments Agricultural and Food Development Authority (Teagasc) and the nearby Atlantic Technological University Mountbellew campus (GMIT). The association with GMIT originates in the association with its predecessor the Galway Regional Technical College, with whom Mountbellew commenced in 1986 a Higher Certificate in Business Studies (agribusiness) which had pathways on to a degree in business. In 1998, an evening course in business studies for adults commenced. 2001 saw the start of a Higher Certificate in Agriculture, which allows students to progress to a bachelor's degree in Science in Agriculture and Environmental Management. Galway Mayo Institute of Technology. The links with GMIT have strengthened and students can now choose between two degrees (Rural Enterprise & Agribusiness or Agriculture & Environmental Management). These students spend time between the Mountbellew and Galway campuses. Former Galway West Fine Gael TD Paul Connaughton Jnr attended Mountbellew qualifying with a degree in business from GMIT.
