Famous Accountants is a contemporary art gallery located in Ridgewood, in the New York City borough of Queens, near the border with the Bushwick, Brooklyn. It was founded in October 2009 by artists Kevin Regan and Ellen Letcher, who opened the space to carry on the community spirit of Austin Thomas's closed Pocket Utopia gallery. The gallery is located in the basement of a building on Gates Avenue that was owned for nearly 15 years by performance artist Genesis P-Orridge., and her late partner, Lady Jaye Breyer P-Orridge. Lady Jaye used the same space as her studio for many years, the only remnant being the number 23, used as the title of Famous Accountants' first exhibition, 23, 2009. In a profile in The New York Times, P-Orridge claimed that she was "forced out [of the neighborhood] by the hipsters" and that she would relocate to the Lower East Side.The gallery has drawn attention for its exhibitions featuring a broad range of materials and working methods, including both artist William Pappenheimer's curatorial project Tunneling, 2010, which surveyed new media and Matthew Miller's self-portraits painted using traditional methods from the Northern Renaissance. In January 2011 the gallery exhibited an installation by artist Andrew Ohanesian of an airplane jetway that the artist had built from new and discarded parts he sourced himself.Artist William Powhida praised the inclusiveness of the Ridgewood / Bushwick artist community of which the gallery is a part, saying, “You can still have a BBQ outside of English Kills and host Sunday salons at Famous Accountants... Do you ever see that in Chelsea? Not so much.”

Cypress Avenue East Historic District is a national historic district in Ridgewood, Queens, New York. It includes 247 contributing buildings built between 1900 and 1914. They consist mainly of three story tenements with two apartments per floor. They feature alternating facades of light and dark speckled brick.The district boundaries were drawn to exclude commercial and frame construction buildings, and include the following addresses: Linden Street 16-66 to 16-92 17-02 to 17-40 Cypress Avenue 654, 664 Gates Avenue 16-73 to 16-91 16-74 to 16-94 17-01 to 17-21 17-02 to 17-22 Palmetto Street 16-63 to 16-83 17-01 to 17-21 17-02 to 17-22 Woodbine Street 16-61 to 16-83 16-60/2? to 16-84 17-01 to 17-21 17-02 to 17-26 Seneca Avenue 652 to 668 784 to 790 802 to 816 Madison Street 17-01 to 17-25 17-10 to 17-28 Cornelia Street 17-19 to 17-33The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Myrtle–Wyckoff Avenues station (announced on New Technology Trains as Myrtle Avenue–Wyckoff Avenue station) is a New York City Subway station complex formed by the intersecting stations of the BMT Canarsie Line and the BMT Myrtle Avenue Line, served by the L and M trains at all times. It is located at Myrtle Avenue and Wyckoff Avenue in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn and the Ridgewood neighborhood of Queens (since Wyckoff Avenue between Gates Avenue and Eldert Street forms the border between Brooklyn and Queens). The complex is connected by a set of stairs and several elevators and escalators between the elevated and underground levels. The station was renovated completely from 2004 to 2008. Since many buses stop here, the MTA opened the Ridgewood Intermodal Terminal on August 20, 2010. Palmetto Street was shuttered to all traffic except for buses in order for the B26, B52, B54, Q55, and Q58 buses to terminate closer together on different parts of the street, and to increase accessibility and convenience for buses and subway transfers. However, neither the elevated BMT Myrtle Avenue Line nor the underground BMT Canarsie Line terminate here, merely the bus lines, excluding the B13, which passes on Gates Avenue, one street away from the terminal on Palmetto Street.

Cornelia–Putnam Historic District is a national historic district in Ridgewood, Queens, New York. It includes 87 contributing buildings built between 1907 and 1922. They consist of two story, flat front brick rowhouse dwellings with one apartment per floor and three story tenements with two apartments per floor. They are constructed of yellow and amber brick with brownstone trim.Addresses in the district include: Putnam Avenue 16-12 to 16-74 Cornelia Street 16-11 to 16-77 16-22 to 16-80It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Seneca Avenue station is a station on the BMT Myrtle Avenue Line of the New York City Subway. Located at the intersection of Palmetto Street and Seneca Avenue in Ridgewood, Queens, it is served by the M train at all times. The station opened in 1915 as part of the Dual Contracts.

The Evergreen Avenue station was a station on the BMT Myrtle Avenue Line located at the intersection of Evergreen Avenue and Myrtle Avenue in Brooklyn, New York City. This station opened on July 20, 1889. It closed on May 3, 1917 due to its proximity to the Central Avenue station, and to allow for the Dual Contracts rebuilding of the Myrtle Avenue Line. As part of the rebuilding, the line was given a third track, the Central Avenue and Knickerbocker Avenue stations were given side platforms, a connection to the Jamaica Elevated was installed and the structure was strengthened to allow subway cars to use the line. This elevated station had two tracks and an island platform.

Myrtle Avenue was a train station along the Evergreen Branch of the Long Island Rail Road. The station opened on May 16, 1878, at Myrtle Avenue and Gates Avenue. From the Greenpoint Terminal it took 18 minutes to get here and Myrtle Avenue was 3.26 miles away from Greenpoint Terminal. The station was located under the present-day Myrtle Avenue El. The station closed with the end of passenger service in May 1882.

The Bushwick School for Social Justice (BSSJ) is a small public high school in the neighborhood of Bushwick, Brooklyn, New York City, one of four schools currently occupying the Bushwick Campus. Enrollment is approximately 425 students. The school is partnered with Make the Road New York, Brooklyn College, and the Institute for Student Achievement (ISA). It was founded by Terry C. Byam, Matt Corallo, Matthew Ritter, and Mark Rush. It opened in 2003, graduated its first class in 2007, and has received an 'A' rating for the last five years. Terry C. Byam was the founding principal. The current principal is Ana Marsh.

The Academy for Excellence in Leadership (AEL), formerly the Academy for Environmental Leadership, is a small high school located in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn in New York City. It was founded in September 2006, and is located on the 4th floor of the Bushwick High School Campus. The school has close to 285 students, spread out among four grades. The partner organizations of the Academy for Excellence in Leadership include Advancement Via Individual Determination Brooklyn College, Brooklyn Library Connections Program, College Now, Guardian Life, Make the Road New York, Medger Evers College, Nature Conservancy, New York City College of Technology, SolarOne and Summer Search. AEL offers Advanced Placement classes in Studio Art, English Language and Composition, English Literature and Composition, Biology, Government and Politics, and U.S. History. As of the 2015–16 school year, the school had an enrollment of 279 students and 28.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.4:1. There were 237 students (68.3% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 3 (0.9% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Academy of Urban Planning (AUP) is a small public high school in Brooklyn, New York on the campus of Bushwick High School. It shares a building with Academy of Environmental Leadership, Bushwick School for Social Justice, and New York Harbor School. It was established in 2003 as a partnership between the New York City Department of Education and New Visions for Public Schools, a nonprofit organization promoting educational reform. Funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, New Visions transformed failing New York City high schools into smaller, more specialized learning communities. AUP was founded by parents, teachers, students and staff from the school's lead partner, Center for the Urban Environment.As of the 2014–15 school year, the school had 280 students and 21.8 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.8:1. 267 students (95.4% of enrollment) were eligible for free lunch and 8 (2.9% of students) for reduced-cost lunch.Through the school's theme of urban planning, students take a sequence of courses including art, architecture and urban design, urban sociology, Geographic Information Systems and a senior seminar in democracy and leadership. The school also offers advanced placement courses in English literature, statistics, human geography and Latino studies. AUP offers students the opportunity to participate in the arts, community service, mentoring, college planning and community advocacy. AUP has been featured in local and national media including MTV's Thinkover Your School, US News and World Report, New York Daily News, Newsday, The Bushwick Observer, EL Diario and News 12. In 2005, AUP received the William H. T. Whyte award for innovation in urban planning. AUP students' work has been exhibited at the Municipal Art Society and the Brooklyn Historical Society.

Cypress Avenue West Historic District is a national historic district in Ridgewood, Queens, New York. It includes 440 contributing buildings built between 1888 and 1906. They consist mainly of brick two and three story row houses with one apartment per floor and three story tenements with two apartments per floor. Also included in the district is Public School #81, St. John's Ridgewood United Methodist Church, and a row of commercial buildings. They feature Romanesque Revival style applied detailing.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Seneca–Onderdonk–Woodward Historic District is a national historic district in Ridgewood, Queens, New York. It includes 211 contributing buildings built in 1911–1912. They consist mainly of three story brick tenements with two apartments per floor. The buildings feature amber brick facades with burnt orange brick bases and trim.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
