The Gansong Art Museum, located in Seongbuk-dong, Seongbuk District, Seoul, South Korea, is the first modern private museum of Korea and was founded by Jeon Hyeongpil (전형필 全鎣弼) in 1938. The museum was named after the pen name of the founder, Gansong (간송 澗松). The aim of the foundation was to prevent Japanese removal of Korean cultural properties, during the Japanese occupation. At times, numerous Korean cultural properties were taken to Japan, such as Goryeo porcelains, statues of Buddha made in Silla kingdom, documents and books made in Joseon dynasty. Jeon Hyeongpil contributed at his own expense to protect Korean culture and art. The museum holds many top-rated antique pieces of art such as Hunmin jeongeum (No. 70 National Treasure), Donggukjeongun Book 1, 2 (No. 71 National Treasure), Geumdong gyemimyeong samjonbul (No. 72 National Treasure), Hyewon pungsokdo.

Hongik University College of Education Affiliated High School (Korean: 홍익대학교 사범대학 부속고등학교), commonly known as Hongik University High School (홍대부고), is a high school for boys in Seongbuk District, Seoul, South Korea. It is part of a system of schools affiliated with Hongik University.

Seongbuk-dong is a dong, neighbourhood of Seongbuk-gu in Seoul, South Korea.Seongbuk-dong is a village located in the north of Seoul, nestled in the hills overlooking the city. A large proportion of the residences are owned by wealthy households. It is also where many ambassadorial residences are located (among them, the residences of the Chinese, Australian and Canadian ambassadors).

Gilsangsa (Korean: 길상사; Hanja: 吉祥寺) is a Buddhist temple in Seongbuk-dong, Seongbuk District, Seoul, South Korea. The temple is of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism. It was established on December 14, 1997, and is located on the Samgaksan mountain.The temple is relatively new. It was established via a donation of 100 billion won from Kim Yeong-hwa. It has a seven-story stone pagoda. It participates in the Templestay program, where guests can participate in activities at the temple and experience Korean Buddhist culture.When the Mayor of Seoul Park Won-soon went missing, shortly before his 2020 suicide, his last mobile phone signal was near the temple.

Hyehwamun (Hangul 혜화문, Hanja 惠化門; also known as Northeast Gate) is one of the Eight Gates of Seoul in the Fortress Wall of Seoul, South Korea, which surrounded the city in the Joseon Dynasty. The gate is also known as Dongsomun (동소문, “East Small Gate”).

Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU or simply Seongdae, Hangul: 성균관대학교; Hanja: 成均館大學校) is a private comprehensive research university in South Korea. The institution traces its origins to the historic Sungkyunkwan, founded in 1398 and located in central Seoul. As the foremost educational institution of the Joseon Dynasty, it was governed by the great code of the state administration with royal assent. It was restructured as a comprehensive university in the late 19th century, and has since greatly expanded its course offerings. The university spends heavily on research and development, mostly sponsored by Samsung, Hyundai, and government agencies, producing high-end research scientists including chemical engineering professor Park Nam-gyu, who was named a Clarivate Citation Laureate in 2017 by Clarivate Analytics, and physics professor Lee Young-hee, director of the Center for Integrated Nanostructure Physics in the Institute for Basic Science. Both scientists frequently appear in Nature.

Dongyang Bookstore (Korean: 동양서림; RR: Dongyang Seorim) is a historic bookstore in Jongno District, Seoul, South Korea. It is one of the oldest active bookstores in Seoul, having been founded in 1953. It is a designated Seoul Future Heritage. It was initially founded in Hyehwa-dong, before moving to its current location in 1954. Its founder was Lee Sun-gyeong (이순경), the wife of painter Chang Ucchin and daughter of Yi Pyong-do. She reportedly served as the breadwinner between her and her husband, through the business. In 1987, she handed off the business to her long-time employee Choi Ju-bo (최주보). In 2004, Choi handed the business off to her daughter, So-yeong (최소영). By 2019, the younger Choi was still the CEO. After the business was designated a Seoul Future Heritage in the 2010s, the Seoul Metropolitan Government provided funds for its renovation. The store was reportedly previously a cramped one-floor business that was packed with bookshelves. After the renovation, bookshelves were removed to make room for readers, and they began work on creating a cafe space for customers. A second floor was added, with bookshelves of poetry. They kept the original faded facade of the restaurant, in order to show that it was a historic and aged place. The store has hosted author events with people such as Han Kang and Gu Byeong-mo.

Hansung University Station (Korean:한성대입구역) is a station on the Seoul Subway Line 4. It is also called Samseongyo Station. The university with the same name is about a half-mile away from this station. The Holy Spirit Campus of the Catholic University of Korea is located closer, to the southwest.

Munmyo (more specifically Seoul Munmyo or Seonggyungwan Munmyo) is Korea's primary temple of Confucius ("munmyo" is also the general Korean term for a temple of Confucius). It is located in central Seoul, South Korea, at 53 Myeongnyun-dong 3(sam)-ga, Jongno District, on the campus of Sungkyunkwan University. Munmyo houses a shrine to Confucius known as Daeseongjeon, or "Hall of Great Achievement." The main gate leading to the shrine Sinsammun, literally "Spirit Three Gate", is open only on special occasions such as Seokjeon Daeje. The central gate is reserved for the spirit of Confucius and his disciple, and no one else may enter through this gate. Past this gate is the central path that leads to Daeseongjeon, and visitors may not cross this path, especially during a ceremony when the gates are open. The courtyard is used for the Seokjeon Daeje ceremony. Munmyo also contains two other halls (Dongmu and Seomu, east and west hall), two dormitories (Dongjae and Seojae, east and west dormitories), a Confucian lecture hall called Myeongnyundang, a library called Cheonggyeongdang, and Jinsasikdang which is the dining hall.

Sungkyunkwan was the foremost educational institution in Korea during the late Goryeo and Joseon Dynasties. Today, it sits in its original location, at the south end of the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus of Sungkyunkwan University in Seoul, South Korea. Twice a year, in May and September, the ceremonial rite Seokjeon Daeje is performed in the Munmyo Shrine, to honor Confucius and the Confucian sages of China and Korea.

The Museum of Korea Straw and Plants Handicraft is a handicrafts museum in Myeongnyun-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea.

Waryong Park (Korean: 와룡공원; Hanja: 臥龍公園) is a park in Myeongnyun-dong, Jongno District, Seoul, South Korea. It was founded in 1984. It is adjacent to the mountain Bugaksan. The park is so named because it resembles a dragon (용/룡) laying down.The park was renovated in 2023, with safety railing and additional flora installed in the park.
