Gaulosen

Buvika is a village in the municipality of Skaun in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located at the end of the Gaulosen, an arm of the Trondheimsfjord, about 3.5 kilometres (2.2 mi) southwest of the mouth of the Gaula River. Buvika lies along the European route E39, about halfway between the villages of Børsa and Leinstrand. The village of Buvika was the municipal center of the former municipality of Buvik from 1855 until its dissolution in 1965, and this is also where Buvik Church is located. The western part of the village of Buvika is called Ilhaugen. Together, the 1.47-square-kilometre (360-acre) village area has a population (2018) of 3,089 and a population density of 2,101 inhabitants per square kilometre (5,440/sq mi).

Buvik is a former municipality in the old Sør-Trøndelag county, Norway. Buvik existed from 1855 until 1965. The municipality encompassed the extreme northeastern part of what is now the municipality of Skaun in Trøndelag county. It encompassed the roughly 25-square-kilometre (9.7 sq mi) area surrounding the Vigda river south of the Gaulosen fjord. The administrative centre was located in the village of Buvika.

Buvik Church (Norwegian: Buvik kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Skaun municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the village of Buvika. It is the church for the Buvik parish which is part of the Orkdal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The white, wooden church was built in an octagonal style in 1819 using plans drawn up by an unknown architect. The church seats about 250 people.

Øysand is a small village in the northwestern part of the municipality of Melhus in Trøndelag county, Norway. The village sits on the south side of the mouth of the Gaula River, at the head of the Gaulosen, an arm off the main Trondheim Fjord.

Spongdal is a village in the municipality of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is the largest village in the Byneset area in Heimdal borough. It is located between the villages of Langørjan and Ringvål. The Byneset Church lies about 2.5 kilometres (1.6 mi) west of the village of Spongdal.The 0.27-square-kilometre (67-acre) village has a population (2018) of 545 and a population density of 2,019 inhabitants per square kilometre (5,230/sq mi).

Trondheim Airport, Øysand (Norwegian: Trondheim flyplass, Øysand) was a military air base situated at Øysand in Melhus, Norway. Established by Luftwaffe in 1940, remained in use throughout the Second World War, until 1945. The airfield consisted of a runway made of wooden frames filled with sand 1,800 by 60 meters (5,910 by 200 ft). The airport was little used and only a squadron of meteorological observation aircraft where stationed there. Its main role thus remained as a backup of the larger air stations of Ørland and Værnes. Øysand was proposed as the site to build the German exclave Nordstern, but the plans never materialized.

The Gaula is a river that flows through the Gauldal valley in Trøndelag county, Norway. The 153-kilometre (95 mi) long river is the largest in Central Norway. The river begins in Holtålen municipality near the mountain Kjølifjellet. It then flows through the municipalities of Holtålen, Midtre Gauldal, and Melhus before emptying into Trondheimsfjord near Leinstrand on the border between the municipalities of Trondheim and Melhus.The Gaula River is approximately 152.8 kilometres (94.9 mi) long and it drains a watershed of about 3,661 square kilometres (1,414 sq mi). On its way, it is joined by one large tributary, the Sokna, at the village of Støren in Midtre Gauldal. Other smaller tributaries include the Rugla, Hesja, Holda, Forda, and Bua. The average flow of water is about 97 m3/s (3,400 cu ft/s).Within the Gaula River, there are two well known waterfalls called Gaulfoss close to the village of Hovin and the Eggafoss near the village of Haltdalen.In 2005, the Gaula was named the best salmon fishing river in Norway with a catch of 37.5 tonnes (36.9 long tons; 41.3 short tons) that year. In 2008, it had a catch of 42.5 tonnes (41.8 long tons; 46.8 short tons). The Gaula is consistently listed among the top 5 salmon fishing rivers in Norway.

Nordstern (en: "North Star"), sometimes referred to as Neu Drontheim (en: "New Trondheim"), was the Nazi plan for the creation of a new German metropolis in German-occupied Norway during World War II. It was planned to have a population of around 250,000–300,000 inhabitants.The building site of the city was located 15–20 km (9.3–12.4 mi) southwest of the Norwegian city of Trondheim. Because of the significant strategic importance of Trondheim Fjord to the German military, it was to be constructed in conjunction with a major navy and military base that would give Germany unprecedented maritime control over the North Atlantic area, a move strongly supported by Großadmirals Erich Raeder and Karl Dönitz.German leader Adolf Hitler envisioned the city as "a German Singapore", and it became one of his favorite architectural projects. During the war itself, the port city was already turned into a major base for German U-boat submarines, Dora I.

Byneset is a former municipality in Sør-Trøndelag county, Norway. The 78.5-square-kilometre (30.3 sq mi) municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1964. The municipality of Byneset encompassed the western part of what is now Trondheim municipality in Trøndelag county. Byneset was located along an arm of the Trondheimsfjord and it was separated from the city of Trondheim by the Bymarka recreation area. The local Byneset Church is one of the oldest stone churches in Norway. The largest village in Byneset was Spongdal which was the administrative centre of the municipality. Other villages included Byneset and Langørjan.

Storheia is the highest mountain in Bymarka in the municipality of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. The 565-metre (1,854 ft) tall mountain lies about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) east of the village of Langørjan. On clear days, one can stand atop Storheia and see as far as the mountain Snøhetta, about 130 kilometres (81 mi) away. The smaller mountain Gråkallen lies just to the northeast.

Ringvål is a village in the municipality of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. The village is located in the borough of Heimdal, at the mouth of the Gaula River between the urban areas of Heimdal and Spongdal.The 0.19-square-kilometre (47-acre) village has a population (2018) of 457 and a population density of 2,405 inhabitants per square kilometre (6,230/sq mi).

Trøndertun folkehøgskole is a "frilynt folkehøgskole" (not Christian) in Gimse in the village of Melhus in Melhus municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The school annually welcomes about 150 students and is owned by "Gauldal Høgskulelag".Gunnar Andreas Berg is teacher of guitar, Espen Berg teacher of jazz and former Trøndertun student Hans Magnus Ryan (Snah) from Motorpsycho is a guest teacher at the school. Other teachers at the school are professionally strong with experience as performing artists.
