Kilcolgan (Irish: Cill Cholgáin, meaning 'Colgan's church'), is a village on the mouth of the Kilcolgan River at Dunkellin Bay in County Galway, Ireland. The settlement is at the junction of the N67 and R458 roads, which lies between Gort and Clarinbridge. The village is near the site of the Galway Bay drowning tragedy. Kilcolgan was designated as a census town by the Central Statistics Office for the first time in the 2016 census, at which time it had a population of 141 people.

Kiltartan (Irish: Cill Tartan) is a barony and civil parish in County Galway, Ireland. The southern portion of this barony was formerly known as Cenél Áeda na hEchtge or O'Shaughnessy's Country, the northern portion was called Coill Ua bhFiachrach (the territory of the Hynes clan) and the eastern part was called Oireacht Réamoinn (Mac Redmonds clan, a branch of the Burkes). It was the home of Lady Gregory, Edward Martyn, and a regular residence of W. B. Yeats. The barony takes its name from the Burke stronghold of Kiltartan Castle (now ruinous) also known as Castletown or Ballycastle. The castle in turn takes its name from the medieval church of Kiltartan a short distance to the north. The old Irish name for the church and parish was Cill Athrachta (church of St. Attracta) which was corrupted to Cill Tortain. The older anglicised form was Kiltaraght which is closer to the original Irish form. It is referenced in Yeats's poem "An Irish Airman Foresees His Death".

Coole Park is a nature reserve of approximately 1,000 acres (4 km2) located a few miles west of Gort, County Galway, Ireland. It is managed by the Irish National Parks & Wildlife Service, part of the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht. The park is in a low–lying karstic limestone area characterised by seasonal lakes, known as turloughs, which are almost unique to Ireland. It has extensive woodlands. There are 6 kilometres of signposted nature trails plus a formal late 18th century walled garden.

Rahasane turlough is a turlough (an intermittent lake), west of Craughwell in southwest County Galway. It is the largest surviving turlough in Ireland. A turlough is a karst lake, which has no surface outlet and is surrounded on all sides by rising land. At Rahasane the drainage has been modified in that since the 19th century the Dunkellin river has followed an artificial channel downstream of the turlough, but part of the flow continues to go underground, via a natural sink, into the underlying limestone. Rahasane consists of two basins which are connected at times of flood but separated as the waters decline. It covers 257 hectares (640 acres) at an altitude of 10–30 metres (33–98 ft) above sea level. The site comprises marshes, and seasonally flooded wet meadows, with limestone outcrops and scrub at its margins. In the summer the lake empties and the basin is grazed by cattle, horses and sheep. The southern basin is the more impressive feature, with high rocky sides above an undulating base, strewn with boulders. There is a low hill on the south side of the main basin, and another on the northeast, near Shanbally Castle.

Clarinbridge GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the village of Clarinbridge in County Galway, Ireland. The club is almost exclusively concerned with the game of hurling. In March 2011, they won their first All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship, defeating O'Loughlin Gaels by 2-18 to 0-12 at Croke Park. Micheál Donoghue was manager of that team.
