Ashgill Quarry

The Old Man of Coniston is a fell in the Furness Fells of the Lake District in Cumbria, England, and is the highest point (county top) of the historic county of Lancashire. It is at least 2,632.62 feet (802.42 m) high, and lies to the west of the village of Coniston and the lake, Coniston Water. The fell is sometimes known by the alternative name of Coniston Old Man, or simply The Old Man. The mountain is popular with tourists and fell-walkers with a number of well-marked paths to the summit. The mountain has also seen extensive copper and slate mining activity for eight hundred years, and the remains of abandoned mines and spoil tips are a significant feature of the north-east slopes.

Brim Fell is a fell in the English Lake District. It stands to the west of Coniston village in the southern part of the District.

Levers Water is a small lake in the English Lake District. It is located at the head of the Coppermines Valley, above Coniston village. To its south-west is Raven Tor, a spur of Brim Fell, and to its north-west are Little How Crags and Great How Crags, on the eastern side of the north–south ridge leading to Swirl How. A dam built in 1717 enlarged the existing tarn to provide water for the mines and for the village below.A public footpath on its north-east side connects the Coppermines Valley to Swirl Hawse, while to its south-west, a path leads up Gill Cove to Levers Hawse on the main ridge of the Coniston Fells.

The Coniston copper mines were a copper mining operation in Lancashire, England. It was functional for hundreds of years in Coppermines Valley above Coniston Water. Today there are industrial remains of the industry and the Coniston Coppermines Youth Hostel is based in the old manager's building. Mining for copper in the valley dates back to the 16th century and the area continued to be mined until the 1950s. In 1982 the buildings in the valley were purchased by The Coppermines Lakes Cottages founder Philip Johnston who set about a comprehensive scheme of rebuilding, restoration and conservation. The buildings were sympathetically restored from the original Victorian sawmill. In 1974, the area of Coniston and the Furness Fells was transferred for administrative purposes to the area of Cumbria County Council.

Buck Pike is a fell located in the Lake District National Park in Cumbria. Buck Pike is near the village of Coniston. Other fells in this area include Brown Pike, Dow Crag, and the Old Man of Coniston.

Dow Crag is a fell in the English Lake District near Coniston, Cumbria. The eastern face is one of the many rock faces in the Lake District used for rock climbing. The name Dow Crag originally applied specifically to the eastern face which looks down upon the tarn of Goat's Water, the fell itself having no need for a name before the inception of hill walking in the 19th century. As with many fells the name of a prominent feature was then applied to the whole mass. Dow was originally named Doe and still locally pronounced as "Doe".

Bowmanstead is a village in Cumbria, England. It is situated 1 mile to the south of Coniston and contains a Catholic church and a pub - The Ship Inn, it is located next to Haws Bank. To the west of Bowmanstead lies the old Coniston to Foxfield railway line, which is now a footpath leading to the village of Coniston in the north and Torver in the south.

Torver railway station served the village of Torver, in Lancashire, England (now in Cumbria). It was on the branch line to Coniston.

The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

Brown Pike is a fell located in the Lake District National Park in Cumbria, England. Brown Pike is near the village of Coniston, and is most commonly approached from there with walkers often continuing onto Buck Pike, Dow Crag and the Old Man of Coniston. There are two main ways to summit, the first being via a path on the south-western side of the mountain marked on Ordnance Survey maps. The second route involves a narrow path along the south slope of the mountain; this route involves some scrambling.

Torver is a village and civil parish in the Westmorland and Furness Unitary Authority of Cumbria, England, 3 miles (4.8 km) south west of the village of Coniston and 1 mile (1.6 km) west of Coniston Water. Farming has always played an important part in Torver's history, though slate mining increased when the Coniston branch of the Furness Railway was opened in the 19th century (it subsequently closed in 1958). Nowadays, the hamlet remains a starting point for many walks around the Duddon Valley and Coniston Water, an area popularised by William Wordsworth.
