Conroe is a city in and the county seat of Montgomery County, Texas, United States, about 40 miles (64 km) north of Houston. It is a principal city in the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan area.As of 2023, the population was 103,035. Since 2007, the city has increased in size (and population) by annexation, with the city territory expanding from 52.8 to 74.4 square miles. Some communities have attempted to fight such annexation. According to the Census Bureau, Conroe was the fastest-growing large city in the United States between July 1, 2015, and July 1, 2016.

Conroe Normal and Industrial College (1903–1981) was a private co-educational vocational school and normal school for African American students, founded in 1903 in Conroe, Texas, United States. The school also went by the names Conroe Baptist Theological Institute, and Conroe College.

The Montgomery Processing Center is a private immigration detention center located in Conroe, Texas. It is operated by the GEO Group, a private prison corporation, under contract from the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The facility was expanded from a capacity of 1,000 to 1,314 detainees in 2019. The Montgomery ICE Processing Center has a significant number of detainees in solitary confinement: 109 detainees in 2022 and 210 in 2023. A 2014 investigation by Houston Landing found that at least five detainees had been held for longer than the 15-day period in solitary considered torture by the United Nations. In 2026, the Texas Observer reported overcrownding at the facility with 60 people held in cell blocks intended for 45, and unsanitary conditions at the facility.

Montgomery County is a county in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 U.S. census, the county had a population of 620,443. The county seat is Conroe. The county was created by an act of the Congress of the Republic of Texas on December 14, 1837, and is named for the town of Montgomery. Between 2000 and 2010, its population grew by 55%, the 24th-fastest rate of growth of any county in the United States. Between 2010 and 2020, its population grew by 36%. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the estimated population is 678,490 as of July 1, 2022. Montgomery County is part of the Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land, TX Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Southern Star Brewing Company is a brewery in Conroe, Texas, USA. Southern Star's president is Dave Fougeron, former head brewer of Houston-based Saint Arnold Brewing Company. The brewery distributes in Texas, Alabama, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and South Carolina. Southern Star's flagship beer is its Pine Belt Pale Ale, an American-style pale ale that is roughly 6.5 percent alcohol by volume. It also produces Buried Hatchet, a Strong American Stout, at 8.25 percent alcohol by volume; and Bombshell Blonde, an American blonde ale at 5.25 percent alcohol by volume. In 2009, Southern Star introduced an annual competition for homebrewers. The winner's beer is put into production by Southern Star for a year. The first year's winning style was a saison; the winning style for 2010 was a smoked porter. In 2019, Southern Star was named as one of the top 100 best breweries in Texas in the Texas Craft Beer Report published by the analytics organization Hopalytics.

The Lone Star Expo Center is a 5,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Conroe, Texas, USA. It hosts local sporting events, concerts, and other events. It was opened in 2002. In 2007, it became home to the now-defunct Conroe Storm indoor football team.

Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (SHSU-COM) is the medical school of Sam Houston State University in Conroe, Texas. Founded in 2019, the college confers the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree. The campus consists of a five-story, 107,000 square-foot building on 7.3 acres. SHSU-COM has received pre-accreditation from the American Osteopathic Association's (AOA) Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA). The college employs 20 full-time clinical faculty, 17 full-time biomedical science faculty, and 37 staff members. In its 2023-2024 Rankings, the medical school was unranked in research and primary care in the U.S. News & World Report of best medical schools.

Covenant Christian School is a private Christian school in Conroe, Texas, United States. CCS was formed in 1982 under the original name of Conroe Bible Christian School. The name was changed to Covenant Christian School in 1983 in an effort to appeal to a broader segment of the Christian community. For the first eighteen years, the school functioned as a ministry of Conroe Bible Church and used the CBC facilities as its campus. The school has always been governed by an independent Board of Trustees, composed of parents of students at Covenant. The student body is made up of families from Montgomery, Walker, San Jacinto, and Liberty counties. Covenant families currently represent approximately twelve denominations and more than fifty local churches.

Panorama Village is a city in Montgomery County, Texas, United States. Residents have Conroe addresses and Willis phone exchanges. The small city is home to a 27-hole municipal golf course and country club. The population was 2,515 at the 2020 census.

Conroe-North Houston Regional Airport (IATA: CXO, ICAO: KCXO, FAA LID: CXO) (formerly known as Lone Star Executive Airport and Montgomery County Airport) is a public-use airport in Conroe, Texas, United States, 37 miles (60 km) north of the central business district of Houston. It is publicly owned by Montgomery County.

Willis High School is a public senior high school in Conroe, Texas, with a Willis postal address. It is a part of the Willis Independent School District.

Excel Academy was a coeducational boarding school located in Conroe, Texas, established circa 1998 and operated by the Aspen Education Group beginning in 2001. Excel Academy was accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The school enrolled adolescents with behavioral issues and provided a college preparatory high school curriculum and treatment based on the 12-step philosophy. Beginning with the 2007–2008 school year, Excel limited new enrollment to students with no history of conduct disorders and whose history included substance abuse as a primary issue. The school had required some students to wear orange jumpsuits, but the practice was discontinued in the 2007–2008 school year. In January 2008 a Montgomery County sheriff's deputy who had been moonlighting at Excel Academy was fired by the county and indicted on charges of official oppression and unlawful restraint after an incident in which he was alleged to have thrown a male student to the ground, handcuffed him, and taken him to the county jail. At the jail, inmates reportedly undressed the boy and applied Vaseline to his back. In April 2009 the policeman was sentenced to 30 days in jail and one year of deferred adjudication.
